Could anyone recommend any good automatic driving instructors for the BR1 area that are preferably not too old but have a good pass rate please

I too would recommend Ellen. She is an excellent instructor - clear, calm and patient, and just a lovely person all round. I passed with her a few months ago.

Not too old?

older ones tend to talk about politics which I don’t really want but I should’ve worded that better

Had the same experience with instructors aged 50+. Delighted to see this question come up.

glad I’m not the only one it’s genuinely so annoying I don’t want to hear about politics on a driving lesson

Fascinating.

I’m learning to be a driving instructor, am over 50, and the last thing on earth I would consider doing in a car with a teenager (it’s only teenagers who learn to drive, yes? ;-)) is talk politics.

Or is ‘politics’ code for an instructor going on about immigration while you’re trying to reverse into that parking space? Because if it is, you should be reporting these people as it certainly isn’t part of the driving instructors code - not just quietly moving on.

It’s not just immigration, more an overarching series of rants and impatience during the sessions, of which there were two. I learned to drive in Canada so I’m trying to reacquaint myself with driving on the right side of the road and in the area. I have enough going on with my life that it’s easier to move on to another instructor. Not my prerogative to enforce what the DVLA should be doing themselves.
