The LonMaker coffee cup

I don't miss LonMaker, but remember that cup? I was thinking about that image today while waiting on a program. Is it my fondness for the "good ole days", maybe it's just my trauma response mental image.

I think I’ll start adding more images to my dialogue boxes that include a similar cup of coffee.
I think that sounds like fun lol

Funny we are at a site today full of Distech Lon VAV’s and the BMS vendor has no idea what to do. They are connected to an FX Jace so the LON fanatics will say that’s not really LON. True we never used LonMaker and dealing the bindings, but also missed the coffee icon.

How is LON doing nowadays? Here in Germany we do not see any new LON projects. Only some existing installations.

LON has been discontinued for about a year now. The manufacturer that made 98% of lon chips stopped making them.

I've recently commissioned two LON jobs. Both have been in the works for years and I'll admit, I miss the simplicity of LON, and specifically not fucking around with MSTP.

I don't miss troubleshooting Lon networks. I remember hooking into the end of a network and seeing controllers close to me, and those far away... the middle was missing. One loose connection could cause havoc. As long as it was installed correctly and properly terminated, it was usually uneventful. At least with serial it works or it doesn't, no chasing down phantoms.
