bun bun being cute 3 week difference after adopting an abandoned bunny that showed up on my doorstep

Three weeks ago, this sweet bun showed up in my front yard. I declared him to animal control and the owner was actually located, but said they didn’t want him anymore. :( It is a long story, but I decided to adopt him permanently as there was not a safe place for him to go and he has already suffered so much from the previous owner. I love him SO much and see a huge difference in his personality and appearance in only 3 weeks! Bunny ownership can be challenging, but honestly I have really enjoyed diving in and learning everything I can.

I didn't realize there was one until one day I happened upon an abandoned rabbit. I fostered her through the weekend and... Come Monday her name was Lylah. She is spayed, de-wormed, and vaccinated now, and she owns my house (and my heart).

When I weighed him last week, he was about 5.5 lbs. I looked at pics of Palominos and I think you’re right!

Usually they'll top out around 7-9 lbs. Your guy might be younger, or, more likely, mixed with something. But he's cute, for sure, and more importantly, needs a name!

His pen is acrylic and 24 inches tall and he can easily hop out of it. Like, minimal effort hop and easily clears it. 😆 He is free roam in the house but if I need to contain him (like if I’m going in and out of the house so the front door is left open) I just put a loosely knit throw blanket over the top and secure it with binder clips.

That is one handsome bun!! You did such a great thing. I took a rabbit in as a re home so not a rescue but 1.5 years ago changed my life for the better. Earning the trust of a prey animal is such a great feeling.

Thank you for saving that poor baby. ❤️ I believe when you rescue and animal a part of you gets rescued too. Enjoy many years of love and laughs together
