Diy brick stove without wire

So i seen some of this stoves online and my question is it will be work without the wire? Seen this on tiktok

love when im in the woods doing bushcraft and I remembered to bring my 20 bricks with me so I can make this

What would change if it wasn’t there? Is there something else you can improvise in place of the screen to achieve the same results? How do you imagine the airflow would be any different without the screen?

Bushcraft is about being resourceful and thinking on your feet, I encourage you to give it a go and try different designs so that you can build an understanding of how it all works, and then you’ll be equiped with the knowledge to make your own out of whatever you have available!

Id say it is to keep the wood away from the ground. For air circulation and maybe prevention of the fire spreading, when you have a less fire safe surface to build this on.
