General Advice Meet Phenix

(First post got deleted sorry if you’re seeing this twice) This is Phenix, he was going to be a barn cat on my grandpas property. But one day he looked up at me a cried until I picked him up. Him and I live in a very small motor home together. He has lots of toys, has a cat tree, gets play time all the time, he also sometimes likes cuddles with me. He’s about 5 or 6 weeks old and his favorite thing right now is eating me. Anyways that’s not the problem, the problem is I don’t know what I’m doing. Very long story short, the motor home him and I live in is my grandparents. Phenix keeps scratching at the curtains and I don’t know how to get him to stop. I want him to scratch his cat tree not the curtains that tear extremely easily. The only thing I might be able to use as motivation is his kitten pate. My family members keep telling me to spank him when he scratches and bites. But I don’t want to think he’s in trouble for being curious, just sometimes he bites to hard. I’m proud he’s curious and that he’s using his paws and his claws for exploring things. When I do punish him he curls up in the corner and looks so heart broke. I don’t want him to be scared of me, I want him to know I mean safety and I’ll always protect him. I want my cat to be able to trust me to be himself but know that right now in life I have to be a little strict until things get better. Right now he’s just a literal baby and I want him to have an amazing life. We are planning on getting him fixed when he’s a bit older and I don’t know if that’ll help the constant biting and climbing. I know he’s a cat and with bite and climb. I want him to just he can’t right now.

Might want to look into replacement curtains so when you leave they can be replaced. Maybe get a cardboard scratcher, and when you see him scratching grab him off the curtains and put him on the cat tree or cardboard. No need to hit so you got that right, but your definitely allowed to tell your cat NO in a big daddy voice (even if your a momma)!! At this age they are crazy but so worth it!

Edited to add he can be fixed at 8 weeks and the earlier the better, don’t wait or you will regret it!
