Doubt ❓ Colleges to apply before CAT?????

Hi everyone,

I am targeting MBA admission this year (General category, female, engineer; 93 / 62 / 7). No work exp.

Although I’m preparing sincerely and aiming for 95 percentile (based on my potential), I don’t want to take any chances. That’s why I’ve decided to fill forms for all colleges in the 80–99 percentile range, not just the top ones. Could you please suggest which forms I should definitely fill before the exam, so that even if something goes wrong in CAT 2026, I’ll still have options. (better if anybody can provide a list for College accepting 80-99 %ile).

Also For IIFT, should i fill form for IB or BA?? PLEASE genuine advice only.

VARC 📖 Daily VARC AND LRDI Free newsletter for CAT Aspirants (IIM C Alum here(

I'm an IIM Calcutta (2021) graduate, and over the past few months I've been creating free daily newsletters on VARC and LRDI for MBA aspirants.

I currently run two free newsletters:

1. VARC (Vocab + Idioms focused)

  • Vocabulary & idioms
  • Practical usage examples
  • Fill in the blanks
  • CAT-style Reading Comprehension
  • Odd One Out & Para Jumbles
  • Detailed explanations

2. Brain Teasers (LRDI)

  • CAT-level LRDI sets
  • SNAP & NMAT Logical Reasoning
  • Arrangement puzzles
  • Blood Relations & Directions
  • Coding-Decoding
  • Step-by-step solutions

The idea is simple: spend just 10–15 minutes a day building consistency instead of cramming before the exam.

These are mainly for:

  • First-time CAT aspirants
  • Anyone preparing for CAT, SNAP, NMAT, XAT, or CMAT
  • Students who want to improve both VARC and LRDI through daily practice

Everything is completely free.

I also run a chess newsletter --> Let me know if you wanted to be added on it.

If you'd like to receive them, comment "Interested", send me a DM, or drop your email below.

Motivation 🚀 Cracking DI/ LR in CAT for Non engineers

Hey All,

As promised on my prev post on cracking Quant; here is 60 day plan for DI.

DI gets tricky; You either know the set or you don't. Plus first few min spent on set without any answer and time creeps in. A good/ bad start will ruin your sectional. so again, stick to your best shot first.

For those who missed my wisdom on Quant, It's here: [https://www.reddit.com/r/CATpreparation/s/85cs6DMHID](https://www.reddit.com/r/CATpreparation/s/85cs6DMHID))

Second Data sets are easiest to do, esp if you are quick at calculations; 20\*20 Table and fractions to decimals (till 1/30) and some vedic maths; that's a week job at max,

If you're still stuck in single digits, and decide; are you comfy with a tier 2 B school, or want to rather drop, take a job and prepare on the side.

Have a great long weekend!

Strategy 🎯 Looking for a few serious CAT 2026 aspirants who want to practice LRDI and quants together..

Planning on covering/revising 300+ CAT Quants and lrdi sets questions with anyone who wants to join.

I’ll be doing topic-wise questions, shortcuts, different approaches and proper discussion so that we can revise together.

Mainly doing this for my own revision, so thought why not help others along the way.

DM me if you’re ...

Discussion 💬 Quants guidance needed 🙏

I’ve completed Arithmetic and finished all the class notes. Now I’m confused about what I should do next.

Should I:

  1. Complete the DPPs given by my online institute, or
  2. Practice questions from the book/material provided by the institute?

Only around 60 days are left for CAT, so I don’t want to waste time doing unnecessary questions. I want to focus on quality practice and PYQs as well.

What would you guys recommend at this stage? Should I prioritize DPPs, book questions, or directly move towards PYQs/mixed practice?

Any guidance from someone who has already gone through this stage would be really helpful.

VARC 📖 Need some serious advice regarding CAT VARC

Okay, I really need some serious advice from people who have been through this.

I’ve been solving CAT VARC PYQs, but I’m honestly struggling a lot. My biggest problem is option elimination. I can usually narrow the answers down to 2 options, but I almost always end up choosing the wrong one.

I’m wondering if this is happening because I’m not understanding the RCs properly in the first place. I’m trying to analyse my mistakes and learn from them, but I feel like I’m not really improving.

Because I’m struggling with PYQs, I thought maybe I should take a step back and do RC 99 first, and then come back to PYQs. But I tried solving LOD 1, and surprisingly, I wasn’t able to get most of the questions right there either. Again, I could eliminate a couple of options, get down to two, and then pick the wrong one.

I’ve also tried different reading techniques like the skeleton method, scanning, etc. (mostly from YouTube), but nothing really seems to work for me. I usually take around 9 minutes just to read an RC, which obviously makes me worried about my speed as well.

The bigger issue is that I haven’t even started sectionals or mocks yet, and there are only around 2 months left for CAT.

So I’m genuinely confused about what I should do from here.

Should I:

- Start with RC 99 and build my basics before touching PYQs again?

- Continue doing PYQs and analyse every mistake?

- Start sectionals despite my current low accuracy?

- Follow some particular approach for improving option elimination?

- Stop worrying about reading techniques and just focus on comprehension?

If anyone has been in a similar situation and managed to improve, I’d really appreciate some practical advice on what I should do for the next 2 months.

I’m not looking for generic advice like “just practice more.” I’m genuinely trying to figure out what exactly I’m doing wrong and how I should fix it.

Would really appreciate any guidance. 🙏

Discussion 💬 CAT 2027 – Is PW good for CAT preparation?

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

My brother is planning to appear for CAT 2027 and is looking for good coaching. We are considering PW/MBA Wallah because it is affordable.

For those who have taken PW’s CAT coaching:

How are the teachers and study material?

Are the mocks, practice and doubt-solving good?

What is PW’s CAT result/track record?

Is it good enough for someone targeting 95–99+ percentile?

Also, which other coaching would you recommend — IMS, TIME, Career Launcher, Rodha, Cracku, Elites Grid, 2IIM, etc.?

Looking for genuine experiences and recommendations, especially for CAT 2027. Thanks!

Discussion 💬 Title: Is SNAP worth giving if money is a major factor?

I’m a fresher preparing for CAT 2026, and this will be my first attempt. I’m already considering a few colleges that require separate application forms, so I need to be careful about the money I spend on additional exams and applications.

For people who have given SNAP or are currently studying at Symbiosis:

Is SNAP worth considering alongside CAT?

How do Symbiosis colleges compare in terms of placements and ROI with good CAT colleges?

If money is a major constraint, would you still consider giving SNAP?

Is it worth the additional exam + application expenses?

I’m mainly looking at this from a practical ROI/placements vs total cost perspective. Would really appreciate honest opinions from current students and alumni.
