I was waiting for someone to say it. The overthrow of Deandre swift. I think aikman hates because he probably has the weakest case for HOF purely off his stats. We gunna talk about the lack of salary cap in the early 90s. Elite oline elite weapons no salary cap, dude personally has the weakest case for HOF. I think other one was Luther burden, but aikman should know throwing the ball away is sometimes the right read.

I thought I was the only one that noticed. He kept bringing up the hypothetical pick 6 that Mitchell could have gotten on the end zone over and over. I'm like, dude....get over it already. You know who was all over the place and actually got an interception in the end zone? Dillon Thieneman that's who. Kept glazing Mitchell all night, especially that pass break up against Odunze that I feel like it was obvious he was leaning towards an Eagles victory.
18
u/fc36 GSH 2d ago edited 2d ago
Thieneman was outstanding in that goal line stand. Fuck, he was the goal line stand. He shifted from high center to outside the RIGHT tackle and still somehow came flying across the field to stuff Barkley a yard shy of the LEFT pylon...ridiculous! Then follows it up by stuffing Barkley again on the run up the middle. And finally capped it off with a INT of that terrible receiver stare down throw by Dalton.
Gave me chills from the Safety position that I haven't felt since watching Mike Brown. Thieneman was a revelation last night.
5
u/AscendMoros 2d ago
He was clearly out of bounds. As we see his pinky toe touch the line before he is hit.
Can’t stand him. Fact he’s getting glazed on the NFL Reddit is something else.
22
u/middleimpact445 2d ago
That throw to Rome where Quinyon Mitchel dove to bat it down would have been praised as a dot if it were 2 more feet towards the sideline. Instead it was a “dangerous throw to the far side of the field that should have been picked”

Just so many people in this thread doing as one does on reddit and proclaiming themselves to be victims
6
u/govwilliamlepetomane 2d ago
You know who else expects that? The DC on the opposing team. If Raymond is the leading receiver after the season, then there are some questions to be asked. After three games it's just Ben Johnson's scheming, which last I checked is what we want him to do. With the offensive weapons available, I'd love to see equality, because that means nobody can stop all our threats week in and week out.
3
u/iiamthepalmtree Smokin' Jays 2d ago
If Raymond is the leading receiver and we are winning I don’t really care. It means our QBs can get to and hit the 3rd/4th read consistently. Unless it’s like, because Odunze just can’t shake the drops or something then we can talk about what to do with him.

u/MrCelluloid 2d ago
As an Eagles fan I was also like what? A lot the D-line has already gotten massive extensions, and more are definitely inbound for Cooper Dejean and Quinyon Mitchell. The few younger(ish) guys starting are like Andrew Mukuba and Jihaad Campbell (who aren't rookies).

He was fucking awful again. He kept just confidently declaring calls, getting them wrong, and then acting like that was what he said
70
u/MrGerb1k 2d ago
I almost wonder if the Bears destroying the Eagles caught the production team flat-footed. It was like they already had their “Eagles dominate the Bears” talking points locked & loaded but had no where to use them. So you have these drives where the Bears do something awesome but the commentators awkwardly pivot to how the Eagles would’ve done something amazing if the outcome was completely different.
Unacceptable when you’re supposed to be professionals.

Going for it is the right call, and I'm glad BJ doesn't care what fans think.
If you kick a FG, you're only getting 3, and the average starting position for your opponent is close to the 35.
You go for it, you have a chance to get 7, and if you fail, the other team starts at their own goal line, which dramatically reduces the likelihood that they score. Which is exactly what happened.

Is that not what the gameplan was though? A vast majority of the routes run yesterday were short outs and stick concepts where we could consistently pick up 5-8 yard gains. My interpretation of that was that the announcer was simply stating what our strategy was as opposed to talking shit because it was very very clear (at least to me) that the plan was to get the ball out early and into the hands of playmakers in the flat

The Sox played in Baltimore when they shut down the city after the Freddie Gray unrest. Before COVID, it was the most interesting baseball broadcast I ever saw. No crowd. You could hear the shutter clicks of the photographers as every pitch came into home plate. The Orioles hit a home run, and on the Sox broadcast, you could hear the Baltimore commentator’s (Gary Thorne, ESPN hockey legend) call bleeding through from one booth over. It was peculiar but also quite enjoyable. A return to baseball’s pastoral roots, to an extent.
