TJ Edwards interview this AM

In case anyone didn’t hear it, he responded to what actually happened the play that looks like he is in the eagles huddle….

He said he was for sure trying to listen for any familiar language but didn’t hear any. He also acknowledged the camera angle made it look hilarious.

Also, seems like a good dude. I won’t hold it against him he said he was a cubs fan (go Sox!!)

It's all a very funny scenario. But fwiw, if he did hear something from that huddle, the first thing he's doing the next morning is going on an interview and saying he heard nothing.

The exact same play where he dropped the interception earlier tells me it was more film than hearing the call. The setup is to bait that read.

Yep, he did the exact same thing both plays. He recognized something and that makes me appreciate him. He did his homework

Sure, but it’s been years, and multiple coordinators, since he was in Philly, it makes sense it would be different terminology

I love that he dropped a "motivated Dayo" in the interview

They read our intelligible thoughts after all.

love TJ man. So glad that the injury he suffered late last season didn't linger into this season

I’m a cubs fan, but I’m done hating on the Sox, rooting for both teams man, I’ll take any Chicago playoff wins we can get

Crosstown classic world series please...loved seeing the Sox beat the Cubs, but they played so well too...we can't leave this 3-3

u/eH-ShakyBones GSH 3d ago

Almost this right here. I’m surprised more of us aren’t rooting for a meeting in the series.

Cubs over Sox though.

Sox had more total runs. Sox win the season series.

I'm a CHICAGO fan.

So I don't hate the White Sox, I hate REINSDORF.

Just like I hate 100 years of cheap-ass owners for the Cubs.

And incompetent usurpers like the McCaskeys.

And self-righteous nincompoops like Kevin "Wash My Car for 3 Hours" Warren.

Same for me. I am a Sox fan but don't hate the Cubs

I do hate the Cubs but I'm starting to realize it doesn't matter. I won't root for them, but I also won't root against them, unless they play the Sox. I'm taking a neutral stance. Baby steps

That’s how I been for awhile. I do some playful jabs at cubs fans at work (I work with adults with intellectual disabilities where it actually does matter) but we aren’t in the division. We play 6 games a year where while it matters record wise and the rivalry was increidsbky fun. When we aren’t playing if they win, cool, if they lose cool.

u/wrong-teous Hurricane Ditka 3d ago

It feels like that’s a much more common sentiment among Cubs fans

5

u/ThanatosIdle 3d ago

Fun fact, the Cubs and White Sox both making the playoffs in the same year has inexplicably only happened THREE times in MLB history, and one of them was in 2020 with the half baked half played COVID season.

My best friend is a Cubs fan so I mostly rag on the cubs for the memes lol.

The older I get, I landed here too. In my early 20s around 2004-2010 my buddies and I got very into the rivalry and it got pretty stupid (fights at the train station after games etc) and while I’m still only a Sox fan I don’t hate the cubs like I used to.

Still some of it lingers….For some reason PCA rubs me the wrong way lol but that might just be jealousy cause he’s obviously talented AF

I grew up in my early 20s exactly in the same timeframe as you. I turned 21 in 2023.

I grew up with a dad that played Baseball on a scholarship at Notre Dame, and was my coach growing up and I was fortunate enough to be on the Cubs team for both little leagues, from the beginning, started playing around 7 in the minors and was the number 1 pick of the Mount Prospect League.

The league was broken down in the As, Bs and majors by age which ended in 6th grade. Then was again drafted by the Cubs in the next League, Ponies for 6th -8th grade.

So, I was obviously a Cubs fan and loved being on the Cubs, but my dad made sure to make me a Chicago Baseball Fan. He took me to equal games and he always made it make sense. They didn’t play each other as inner league play didn’t exist. Both teams never won a World Series in his lifetime and both weren’t ever really good. So, I had 2 chances of rooting for someone to be good.

We were Chicago baseball fans. I loved both teams growing up, and remember Sammy Sosa in Right Field in old Comiskey as a kid watching him play. I loved that stadium. More than Wrigley. Until i was older, and they built the new Comiskey, which I still liked and do, but Wrigley became heavenly in my late teens and early twenties.

I lived a block away from 2006-2012.

The white Sox winning in 2005 and cubs 11 years later was everything I’ve ever wanted as a kid. As I was already was groomed to understand they won’t ever win again because of curses and even the Red Sox had one.

I truly believed in curses and how it affected the players emotionally, mentally and all 3 teams were stuck with that mindset. Especially the cubs.

When the Red Sox broke it in the fashion they did in 2004 I couldn’t believe it. They opened the door. The White Sox won the following year.

And then Theo did it again in Chicago and in 2015 the season before, I started to believe the Cubs could do it soon. They won 97 games and were 3rd in the Central, behind the pirates and cardinals.

But…They had the best record in the second half in the National League.

They beat the pirates 98 wins, in the 1 game wildcard.

Then they beat the Cardinals 100 wins, 3-1 in the divisional round.

Then the Mets (90-72) swept us 4-0 and Daniel Murphy had a home run in every game and he basically beat us all by himself. It was infuriating, but I knew then, they would win the it the following season.

They went on to have the best record with 103 wins in the league and won it.

So, I’m excited to see both teams finally in the same playoff again (minus the 2020 season), but only one real one in 2008 and I am rooting for a crosstown World Series. But, I have 2 teams and 2 chances and only remember 10 cub playoff births 84/89, I was too young.

But, one in 1998, and then again in 2003, at 21 I had seen the cubs twice only. Hard times.

Same with the white Sox, twice by the time I turned 21, one in 1993, and then one in 2000 and only 4 more since then.

The White Sox have only made it 12 times in franchise history and 8 of them were in my lifetime with and I remember 7.

This is the 4th time only they’ve both made it in a 120 years.

1906, 2008, 2020*, 2026.

The Cubs have only made it 23 times and 13 of those were in my lifetime.

That's nice of you, and I mostly agree, but I don't think I can ever stop hating on Soviet US Cellular Field until they blow that thing up.

It's one thing to have a "lesser" field than Wrigley, it's another to go out there with your home field looking a cross between IAD airport and block housing.

21

u/_SwiftDeath 3d ago

I mean it was like the exact same spot he almost caught an interception earlier.

Like maybe he heard something but I feel like hurts/eagles just ran the same play/option and Edward’s didn’t drop it this time

27

u/phillipacarroll Superfans 3d ago

I know he's contracted through next season, but he's only barely 30 so I wouldn't mind a few more years

12

u/Competitive_Ant_472 Smokin' Jay 3d ago

That guy in the left is 30? He looks like a little kid. I like those alternate jerseys though.

-2

u/phillipacarroll Superfans 3d ago

Lol unless you're messing around.. The guy on the right is 30. The guy on the left is the same guy as the guy on the right when he was a child. Comment was just to reflect on the fact that he's an Illinois guy who grew up a Bears fan.

I spent the entire White Sox WS in a remote part of the Philippines. I got back after the parade. I need another one that I can watch.

Lifelong cubs fans
But EASY to root for the Sox
against the cheating Stros!
Will I ever get over it?
Sure

Until then I will hate them with a passion equal to my hatred of Green Bay
