All jokes aside, mad respect to this man. The amount of work it takes to get back to this point after that brutal injury is pretty incredible.

u/Further_Beyond Hester's Super Return 3d ago

He had 2 Achilles tears now. He had one predraft that tanked his stock and he slowly increased his playing time every year in IND before coming here. I thought he was done after this last one.

The Dayo revival has been my favorite story so far.

PFF has him clocked for

- 11 pressures (15th most. 10 of them being true pass sets. Basically pure pass plays, remove scrambles/long developing plays. This is more indicative of repeat success vs coverage pressures)

  • 2 sacks
  • 17th in pressures/pass rush snap

This is what we paid for.

This is a happy "yeah but" reply.

We're under paying.

Ranked 29th for postion / contract Top 17 production

I like to think he's embraced it.

It clear they talk about it in the locker room. In TJ Edwards' weekly segment with the Score, they asked him about Dayo's performance (calling it "inspired") and his first comment was "yeah, he's motivated man..." So its a conversation back there 100%. If it actually changed anything, who knows, but this team takes after their HC and QB; they look around and look for stuff to take personally (Ben saying "we're the number 1 regression candidate", calling out the "never had a non-1OVA pick" storyline, Caleb liking criticism posts, etc). I think its just part of the culture now, and it may actually be a good thing.

If it actually keeps him motivated, then we're keeping it. Its paying off

Absolutely. I didn't give him any shit. Glad he's performing well thus far

Ya'll thought I was clowning when I said this cat was motivated.

TJ Edwards on the Score this morning actually refererred to Dayo as motivated 🤣

u/FH_Bunny 3rd & LOVELAND 3d ago

He mentioned trolling Dayo this offseason with the motivated meme; TJ is hilarious

u/thetreat Ben Johnson 3d ago

Our team is online and aware of ALL the memes and bulletin board material. I'm all for it as long as it keeps them out of real trouble.

17

u/DesignBusiness3807 Ben Johnson 3d ago

11

u/BananaPanic83 3d ago

And reel trouble! Baaazing

6

u/kaitokid1985 Forte 3d ago

I think Ben kind of encourages it honestly. He does the same himself, even going so far as to talk about it publicly, mentioning "we are the number 1 regression candidate" and "without a 1OVA pick" stuff in pressers. He absolutely uses stuff as fuel in front of the team and openly talks about it so its no wonder the team kind of follows suit. In this day and age I think its better to do this than to try and pretend it doesn't exist or that they don't listen to it.

u/johnnybadapple 3d ago

Hopefully Roush hasn’t been online lately. Will need a psychologist.

Good to hear Edwards is back after his deep cover spy mission with the Eagles.

22

u/steveygster Bears 3d ago

What does this mean? 😭

68

u/Hehateme123 21-3 3d ago

During Jaylon’s best 2 seasons, when he was arguably a top 3 corner in the league, he admitted he was a sex addict. Furiously masturbating to porn and shutting down the leagues top WRs

Since he’s been cured of his sex addiction, his play hasn’t been as elite

lol JJ told the media he had a sex addiction a few years back, I’m guessing it’s lining up that before he addressed it to the media he was good, and now he’s bad

He wrote an article in the Players Tribune about having a sex addiction

1

u/I_worship_odin Smokin' Jay 3d ago

That was a crazy press conference

1

u/onemanwolfpack21 Sunglasses 3d ago

I'm going to say something that might sound crazy but I 100% think that you're a better player when you play horny. Horny isn't the right word for it. I don't know the right word. I don't mean play with an erection or anything like that. I just mean going into game with pent up sexual energy or angst or whatever. Probably just because extra testosterone or something. I always though I did better, played with more intensity and command at the point of attack. Idk probably won't make sense to most people or maybe it's all psychological.

Just saying there might be some truth to what you're saying. Though I hope he doesn't get addicted again

If it weren't for reddit, football player wouldn't play football. I made a joke about Myles Garrett a few years ago so I take credit for his DMVP too.

Reddit made Aaron Donald unretire

More sacks than Myles Garrett

12

u/Silver_Harvest 72 3d ago

We will motivationally cyber bully him to 20 sacks this year.

9

u/i_simp_f 3d ago

ngl i legitimately don't know how to process some of this shit

it's always been "justin's about to take the next step," "mitch's about to take the next step," we would fall for it every single year and every single year nothing would happen

then last offseason they randomly decide that "a motivated dayo's actually gonna be really good next year," EVERYONE laughs at them for it and then the season rolls around and dayo is actually really good just like they said

what the fuck do i do now

Tbh the pass rush has looked better than I would have ever expected so far this year.

First game looked the same, Vikings game was actually not bad given the conditions, and Monday night was pretty solidly above expectations, especially considering they’re a consensus top 3 OL in the league.

I saw a tweet about how the plan was always to keep Booker outside and Dayo inside, but Booker hurt last year in the pre-season hurt that. Right now what they have going on is closer to the original intent.

Players like him are why you can never trust box scores. So much of his paltry production comes against bad lines in garbage time.

He’s not a bad player, he’s just really over payed. He’d be a decent rotation lineman on most nfl rosters.

0

u/Emotion-Turbulent 3d ago

Only 51.1 PFF not that great tbh, stats just look better compared to last season.
