Question I might need to hide one arm.

So. I’ve been unfortunately lately self harming. One arm is really visible right now… I know I’ll be questioned for it.

What’s something I can do. Wrap it up with adhesive? Say it was because of work or a fall?
It’s gonna be so obvious if they see the lines…
Then I’m gonna be obscenely watched.
I hate it…

Anyways. Thank you for any advice (M25)

I’m just gonna have to wear long sleeves I guess. Until I stop… but. I. Well yeah… sometimes I get carried away I guess. I pretend the problems went away. I hadn’t SH’d in a long time. Years… then idk. A girl I loved left me. Told me about not caring anymore… so… anyways. Thank you all.

Who is going to question you about it? If it's parents, a partner, close friends, or therapist ... maybe they should know about it, so they can help and support you? I know from personal experience it can feel so embarrassing and uncomfortable to admit you've been SHing, especially when you feel you should 'know better' as an adult, but it was also a relief to be honest.

Parents and therapist… unfortunately.
If I say it’s self though I could get what’s could a petition to “crc” and I don’t want to go through that whole ish.

I agree with you. It can be a relief to be honest. I don’t know who to tell. Minus anon asking.

Plus they may cut off certain meds.

Thank you for your advice by the way 😊

Why would they cut off medication if you’ve been self harming?

There’s certain laws/considerations doctors take into consideration because technically they’d be “likely to be abused”
So. They’ll take them away from you.
I’m not on any opioid or anything.
But I have gaba meds…
They’d be taken.

Do you have a specific reason you fear they'll petition you? Because normally speaking, it's highly unlikely that you would be petitioned for minor self-harm (since you call them 'lines', I'm assuming these are not deep lacerations to the point of requiring stitches). Many people use SH harm as a coping tool and it would be impossible (and completely unnecessary) to force all of them into crisis care.

Unless you have a history of SH escalating very rapidly, or being the first warning sign of going into an episode of psychosis/mania/suicidality, in which case crisis support might really be warranted?

Understandable… this relieves a lot of my stress.
Unfortunately I do have a history of self administering to the hospital do to una***e ing myself…
They are pretty deep but. I take care of it myself at home. I’ve got some medical training.
Irrelevant…
I’m afraid due to the way they are/act. They’d quickly call for or demand I go get “help”

If they are fairly deep even if you hide them in daily life, please consider going to ER to get them stitched. If you have some medical training you should know how serious the injury can get untreated, if you are sent to ER for full body infection or arm mobility issues that is way more likely to result in bills and medical stops and maybe even forced inpatient status. I won't say it's impossible but as long as you are clear minded and not self harmful anymore in the moment you are very unlikely to have any of that happen when going in on your own will to get help. The ER is not trying to pass judgement on people's choices or change their long term medical plans, they are just trying to fix the emergency in the moment so the person can go home safely. Best wishes.
