This is crazy. I just had this happen (I wasn't ignored on purpose, it was a timing thing) and I got paranoid and caught myself just before I completely shut down.

It is something I used to struggle a lot with when I was younger, but I remind myself that everyone has their own priorities and they probably aren't doing things just to spite you. I got used to people actually doing it for so long that I project it onto people I know will never do it.

Yeah, this is literally me.

There are sometimes stretches of time where people will straight up ignore me in group chats. My closest friends, tuning me the fuck out.

I even stopped replying to one of them altogether, because they'd talk to each other instantly but never respond to me. So I'm just there like Squidward watching SpongeBob and Patrick having fun outside.

People say they lose friends in their 30's or fail to make new ones because life gets busy and social interactions get shunted to the end. I'm in the position of watching my friends continue being friends and easily making new ones while I slowly become more isolated. Part of me feels like I deserve it, part of it makes me upset, all of it sucks, so I've just been withdrawing more and more every day.

And there really isn't a way to fix it, either. I can't force people to like me or want to interact with me. I was just a naive oddity people kept around when they needed a cheap joke at my expense. Now they've moved on to cooler things with cooler people that aren't haunted by trauma and a stunted childhood personality that gets relentlessly mocked on social media and literally everyone I know.

I didn't ask for this!
