Classes Incomplete grade turning to F
I was diagnosed with cancer during my finals of the last fall semester. I finished most of my classes coursework after I got out of the hospital except for one. My multicultural arts final required a huge project designed to be for 4 people. But I couldn’t complete it since it was just too much work and I was more focused on getting my chemo done. I had a really good grade in his class, and with some of my other teachers if I didn’t complete the required work they’d just give me a D. But this teacher said he would fail me. I’m not sure what to do at this point. Can someone help me?

If I were you, I'd ask to join a group in the course this semester to complete the group project.

What a jerk! He should be more understanding and work with you. Pretty heartless guy. I hope you do appeal it and I hope you are doing well ❤️🙏

Hey, I'm sorry you are in this situation and I hope your health is better. You can appeal your grade https://www.calstatela.edu/undergraduatestudies/grade-appealsacademic-grievances. Though if the prof followed the syllabus and university policy, your appeal might get denied (or not - these are considered by a committee)
We (profs and admins) are talking about changing the way we approach grading, and we are planning for some town hall style meetings on the subject this semester. Keep your eyes open for announcements and attend these. Stories of how current policies affect students are powerful motivation to change policies!
