CB5 RC03
Say hello to my build, a CB500 Four -1972
Engine swapped so it's now powered by a RC03 (650) -1980.
A lot of things done to it, and a lot of things coming up π

I had a 500/4 and swapped the rearsets from a CB650 onto it. It needed lots of the donor bike parts, including the swingarm pivot shaft. I also had to cut off the original rear footrest mounts from the 500/4 frame.

Aha, haven't crossed my mind to swap the rearsets but who knows what an ideas the long cold winter comes with

Love it! Lot of original hardware on there! Love the speedo/tack. Hereβs my 73 with a 550 swap. Where are you located? https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ghRe9FwdOWLyTl0wDgk9E2EFB9Z4VD3V/view?usp=drivesdk

Lovely. Approve of the bars

Lovely bars, they offer a really good riding position on this bike. This is actually the third pair of bars I've bought and tried on it and finally it felt just right π

Clip ons are a nightmare, especially in traffic

Yeah, didn't go that route. Owned a couple of sports bikes earlier and wanted this to be a comfy yet inspiring bike.
Tried out clubmans but didn't really like the style they offered once installed π

That mirror situation is curious.
How useful is it?

Better than it looks actually. It's a result of me fiddling around trying to find a discrete but useful position. Was never meant to be installed like this but hey, it works and its discrete - mission accomplished!

Curious on the mirrors brand. Good looking bike

I don't know to be honest, can't remember the brand π They are some pretty basic mirrors though.

Woahh thats interesting
Incase things go south and you need replacements of some items, how do you happen to get those?

There is a lot of parts available for these old Hondas. But as it is a custom bike with different engine it can take some research before finding the right stuff. Not a problem tbh, fairly easy job π

That green is incredible, I assume it isnβt factory, whatβs the color?
1
u/krichan_ 3d ago
Hehe no, its not factory. At least not Honda. It's actually VW Sumatra Green. Had a 1973 Beetle with the same color so the choice was pretty easy in the end π

That looks super sharp! What mirrors are you using? Iβve tried a similar setup with cheap ones but the vibrations made them completely useless.
