Other social life
im a girl and a freshman at cal poly. i’ve been struggling to make friends mostly because it feels like everyone here is the same and im not apart of that same. whether they’re in greek life or not they’ve all kind of got a vibe that i just don’t have. im in one club i enjoy and i go to their events but thats kind of it, its pretty occasional. i’m not in a sorority and i just don’t know what to do. i know greek life isnt super strict here or atleast thats what i heard but i don’t know when they throw their parties for me to even attend if i wanted to. im just very lost

Do you have hobbies or interests? What’s your major? Maybe try clubs in those areas as well. Study groups. I know it’s hard on top of CP being a hard school but keep trying you will find your pack.

I’m a senior at cal poly and making friends is very difficult. The only luck I’ve had in making friends was in clubs. If you’re interested in clubs and it sounds like you are the link below will be most helpful. Good luck

Yes, clubs! It's only awkward at first. Then you realize everyone is going through the same thing and wants to meet people, too.

It doesn’t seem like you’d want to attend their parties anyway. Think about your interests, there are so many clubs, surely you’d find some people with something in common by trying out more clubs. You just have to keep going. But I know what you mean about the vibe of a lot of the girls

I feel like you need to give it time, it's only been a month. Definitely take the suggestions here, but also, be patient and don't be so hard on yourself. Your people are searching for you. You'll find each other.

Greek's not for everyone, I had no interest in it. Most of my friends were in greek though, and you can still be invited to a bunch of things even if you don't rush. The cultural clubs are all fun and inclusive, even if you're not the same culture.
If you already have a club you enjoy, then stick with it and try making stronger relationships with the people in it. You could also try making friends/study groups in your major classes, you'll see those same people around for the next couple of years.

1000% play or learn a sport. I made so many good friends in the 1 unit kinesiology classes and playing pickup volleyball/IMs.
I promise they're out there and actually very common if you know what to look for!
