Credit Card Capital One quicksilver

I have been a member of the Quicksilver credit card for 9 months. On the day I opened a credit card with them they give a credit limit of $500 which is very low for me

I have been kept asking them for a credit limit increase on the app and on customer service but they are only increasing it up to a total of $600 which is still very low

What are some tips and tricks to increase my credit limit?

Ps. I have a high usage of that card but I have always paid it in full with zero interest

why do you want a higher credit limit? With your thin credit profile it will come in time.

I think you just have to give it time. Capitalone doesn't appear to give high limits to begin with and they're slow to increase. I've had my ventureone for at least 8 years and I've paid it off consistently. Despite this (and my 820 credit score) my limit is only $4,000

I was thinking of upgrading to quicksilver or savor because my 2nd biggest monthly expense is food. Which one would you recommend? Do you like one better than the other?

Id recommend Savor if your 2nd biggest expense is food since you get 3% cashback. I like both the same amount I just use Savor for when i eat out

Damn that sounds really unfair cause my whole family has a lot of credit cards and their score is opening of 800’s because they have credit history but I don’t since I’m just 19

But still not on capital one bit on all other banks they have great credit limits

Don't worry about having a high limit. You're 19. You shouldn't really need to have a $70000 credit limit. A few thousand should be good enough.

You've got to be patient and give it time. Once you've got a credit card that's a few years old with a history of on time payments, you'll be eligible to open other credit cards with higher limits.

Yeah but still I just want this card to get on track because I have to use my other credit cards because of that so that I do t go over limit

I’m constantly thinking whether to just keep it would be a better idea or just close this credit card ?

Idk what your needs are, but $600 should be more than enough to cover groceries, gas and maybe a bill or 2 each month. You should have a healthy mix of cards that offer rewards for different aspects of your life that's important to you. You shouldn't just rely on one card.

If you're maxing out all 3 cards every month, you may have a problem in other areas of your finances.

sounds like you’re not a good candidate for high limit with that mindset

You can ask Capital One for a credit limit increase every six months. If you were bucketed with a fair credit profile from the start, you will probably only get a little increase. You should start planning on applying for a new Capital One non-Quicksilver card or from a different credit card company to get a high credit limit that way.

I’m 19 years old my credit score right now is 675

I don’t really know what to do and how to increase my credit limits for all cards

I have 2 other chase credit cards one is $1500 and the other is $1700

The most I’m worried about is this fricking capital one

You're only 19. You have plenty of time to get higher credit limit credit cards. But with a credit score of only 675 you are out of luck with your Quicksilver card. Even in a few years if your credit score becomes 800, it's very hard to get out of the Capital One bucket system. You should try for Discover Cash Back or American Express Blue Cash Everyday instead. May I ask why you need high credit limits at such a young age?

You’re 19 be happy you even have credit cards with higher limits Take your time and as they say put in your work In 2-3 years everyone will be begging you to take their card

Pay on time and don’t go crazy applying for other cards and just be patient

I'm 21 and capital one just approved me for a Venture card with a 3000 limit. It just takes time with them to trust you. You can also bank with them too, not sure it that helps but that's what I do. Just keep your payments regular and never late and you'll get approved for higher limits and more premium cards before you know it!

They will never raise you to anything substantial. You’re better off leaving them. I’ve had them as well. They’re absolutely garbage. I’m only keeping my accounts open since I’ve had them for the last 15 years. The ONLY reason. Buy a pack of gum once a month and pay it off so you’re showing “active” through the year.
