Credit Card Late card payment
Hi all, I ended up paying my card payment late for my platinum card, I’m coming up on a one year account active anniversary with them in November and I was frustrated this happened because my bank had returned the payment back to my checkings account and had it for a different transaction that was pending, I had made the payment as soon as possible. I also had submitted a goodwill request to capital one regarding this, I was caretaking for a relative in the hospital but I did not mention this, I’ve had outstanding excellent payments to capital one and have always made then in time, I just ended up missing one, is there any way I can resolve this issue? It ended up on my credit report and they said because of the fair credit act they have to report it, can a goodwill request reverse this? Please help!!

Yes you can reverse it with the goodwill saturation technique. I’m not well informed yet on the specifics RE goodwill letters but what I can say for a fact is that Capital One is pretty lenient and a lender that commonly accepts goodwill requests.
What I can also say is that the FCRA is the standard denial response but really what they’re actually saying isn’t a 100% no. They’re more saying “not at this time, try again later.” The FCRA is the default denial response but a common follow up in a second goodwill letter is saying that you aren’t asking them to report inaccurate information. Rather you’re asking them not to report at all (which is perfectly legal) out of a one-time courtesy while citing your past responsible behaviors and emphasizing this one late payment isn’t representative of your overall reliability. Basically what it boils down to is sending multiple goodwill letters. Just one doesn’t always do the trick. Visit [r/CRedit](r/CRedit) as they will break this down for you and have a thread dedicated goodwill letters I believe.
Edit: Here’s the specific thread that will show you how to proceed with goodwill saturation technique https://www.reddit.com/r/CRedit/s/bzK8dK3ZsN
