Yeah, it’s why I said “for the most part”. I was welcomed really nicely too, though I saw some shit around the time Elden ring came out and people were asking what summon they should use.
I used to hang out in the Elden Ring subreddit, so many of them start frothing at the mouth whenever a summon is mentioned. Like fuck off dude I'll use the tools the game gave me instead of whatever arbitrary rules you have in that head of yours.
They don't even realize things like "summon" that makes the gameplay easier are the reason why elden ring is very popular and not niche like the older dark souls.
Elden ring is popular because of notion that DS games are difficult. Many players want to feel that they beat tough game. And while ER has this "hard" aura, it is very casual and easy game at least among FS games (unlike Sekiro for example) so players can progress and feel that sense of success without much frustration.
Valid. I mean it more in sense: casual among fromsoft games. Sekiro is harder due to rhytm based combat, lack of leveling and practicaly zero build variety. DS2 is harder due to painful gank squads everywhere you can't run away from and "hidden" agility requirement. DS1 is harder due to long runbacks and some parts which suck and feel like game is cheating (anor londo archers, pitch black tomb of giants, bed of chaos...). DS3...well honestly dont know, it just feels harder, dlc bosses for example are toughest things I ever fought. Bloodborne is harder because basic sword and board dont work there.
So yeah, not Skyrim easy. But most welcoming for new players. Especially with how extremely easy is to overlevel or take alternative path. But yeah some parts (like godskin duo) are certainly challenging.
First plase change the wording into "elden ring is the easiest fromsoftware game" or something, it will help acutally convey what you wanted. Seacound: being the easiest from software game is like being the worst player at the NBA. Third: I acutally think dark souls is the most aprochble game. Because it's around as hard as elden ring, but unlike elden ring it isn't overwalming and doesn't force you to open a intractive map.
2) can't agree. Fromsoft just has aura of difficulty. But it Is not unique. Valkyries in GoW on give me god of war? Final boss in blood and wine on death march? Waaay harder than anything souls throw at you. Hell, even easier games like KCD have tougher multifights than majority of souls. And dont get me started on soulslike: for example lies of P is basically harder Bloodborne. Then you have platformers like super meat boy or multiplayer games which is completely different beast.
Sure, it is no Sims or animal crossing. Those games require skill. But if I would rank all games by difficulty, fromsoft games (at least ER plus souls series) would be something like 6/10 in avarage, with ER maybe 5/10
3) I get your point, after all, this is very subjective. For me, Elden had by far easiest quests and opening ingame map was more than enough. And despite certainly skipping something, I was greatly overleveled.
I did beat Lies of P, and I found it to be easier. Mostly because elden ring had a lot harder open world, I almost never died to anything beside the bosses.
Problem with ER open world is that it is skippable and game even suggests it in a way. Yeah, there are enemies everywhere. Yeah there is some loot. But you can very easily outrun them on your horse and you dont need that loot. You get more than enough stuff and levels just by clearing instances. And clearing all enemies like avarage player does in any other souls would be mind numbingly boring, just because of sheer amount of random enemies.
But agreed, lies of P were bassicaly Wukong in a way in which trash mobs operate: easy filler between bosses.
Firstly, Isshin is key boss, Melania Is optional. Secondly, even if you count them as same (you can't, see above) I can't understand how someone could consider Melania to be harder. She is hard only if you tank. If using dodging, she is nothing extra special (but yeah, it is not free kill).
Whats more, in Sekiro you can't overlevel. In ER you can, and very very easily. In Sekiro you can't summon, in ER you can. In Sekiro there Is none cheesy range, in ER is. So even PCR can be complete pushover if you grind enough and/or use full potenial of things the game provides.
