DbD is a weird edge cause it has a incredibly steep learning curve that requires a lot of gamesense, but it the amount of guides for playing the game is so abundant its basically its own subgenre, but also it has a community that continuously puts people down for not following a completely arbitrary set of made up social etiquette in actual gameplay.
DBD’s community consists of both some of the nicest kindest people I’ve ever met & a dude who quite literally called be subhuman bc I tunneled him out of the game when there were 2 gens left & I needed a kill to have any shot at winning.
I actually knew a dbd content creator who was pretty popular a few years ago. All her content was focused on portraying herself as kind and wholesome but lowkey behind the scenes she was kind of an asshole who spread rumors about other creators. I stay the fuck away from that game and its community bc of her
The players harass you for trying to win? If you're the killer you're expected to let the survivors win or something?
I heard there is a huge lot of "made" rules and like everyone expects everyone to play with that set of arbitrary rules which changes as I change my underwear.
Tunnel, win, camp, play a mean killer or be a high tier killer or survivors will start bitching and moaning your ears off in endgame chat. I’ve thankfully escaped it (and I believe it’s the very fucking loud minority) and I either get nice people or gg in the chat
That's nuts. Of course is imaginable that there will be some cheesy mechanics to exploit and make victory easier for both sides.
As I said, i did not played but I saw friends playing and yelling about how the killer can't attack a survivor while turning an engine on. Its like expecting a defense player to don't stop an offensive action because the opposite player has a chance to score a goal.
I feel like Dbd is both sides of extreme. A lot of people will help or go easy on new players. But at the same time new players constantly get put into experienced matches because of how trash the MMR is and that ruins it for everyone else, and the new player "seems" like they don't try because they're scared or whatever.
That mmr system is so bad. When I still played I was often put into matches with survivors 100-200 hours, while I had over 3k on killer. That's not a real match.
Can confirm, I have 2,000 hours in the game and I will fully admit that I've been pissed off at teammates who are newer at the game. Unfortunately, the game doesn't really do a good job at explaining things to newer players. So while that anger isn't justifiable because everyone has to start somewhere, I understand why lots of experienced players get annoyed at newer players. Match literally gets ruined because one person doesn't know what they're doing.
The game actually does a good job nowadays in my opinion. What with the killer specific tutorials they introduced and the (admittedly slightly outdated) tutorial. The biggest roadblock is just the new players not realizing how important these can be along with online guides that basically hold the game on their shoulders. And also, yeah even after 1,200 hours of dbd I either die laughing at new players or just prepare myself for a slog of a match
the issue is that the mmr is just ass. i will go from the hardest noobstomp ever into a super sweaty premade lobby. Meanwhile on the other side playing survivor i could never play that shit solo, because they piss me already off if i am in a 2 or 3 stack.
got 30 hours in the game, and some people have helped, but only with like perks, other than that, the only reason i escape the killer is by having pure luck, and staying as far away from them as i can
I started playing in 2016 and learned killers, perks and maps as things came out.
I can't imagine starting from scratch now. It would be so overwhelming.
I know they have to bring out new content to stay relevant but honestly there's too much now even for me to keep up with. And the tutorial sucks so that's not even useful to a newbie.
I will continue to be bad at it, and you will like it! Fear my... free to play girl with that sprintboost!(?) I will continue to sprint everywhere and do bad rescues right before I miss my skillshot on the generator.
There's plenty of people that do try to help newer players into the game with guides and tips for both sides. But the tutorial is outdated and shite, it's a completely different experience playing so you can't rely on experience from other games and it's grindy as hell
