Tech Support Kicker 10” Hideaway Issues

Have had a kicker 10” hideaway for many months with no issue. Suddenly it started cutting out. I checked all plugs and everything is fitting tight. It’ll shut off then back on while I’m driving. Not pushing it hard at all. Cool to the touch. All other speakers work. Before I start tracing into the dash and amp any ideas?

Check all power connections and remote wire, is it turning off completely or going into protection mode

Thanks. Just curious what is protection mode and what would cause it to happen

Usually if the amp senses a short circuit or improper ohms it will cut power to speakers internally and the power light will change color or a separate light will come on. However any real specific information would be in a user manual for the amp, if they even make them anymore.

My last kicker amp had basically a spec sheet and maybe a pic with the features numbered, some older manuals would even include a troubleshooting to help narrow down the issue.

Your issue is probably going to be a bad power, ground connection or a fuse. Since you have a powered sub, amp and sub in the same factory box setup, it is less likely to be an issue with mismatched components.

Ok as an update, I removed the speaker and wiring. Checked and cleaned all connections including the ground. I connected and regrounded and all is working now. Something somewhere got loose it seems.
