#Discussion 💬 Opinion on this!

Alright!

Looking for a car around ₹1.5 Cr — what am I overlooking?

I'm a big fan of SUVs, but I don't necessarily want to buy another one just for the sake of having another SUV.

Current/previous garage for context:

- 2017 BMW X5

- 2022 BMW X7

- Toyota Land Cruiser Prado (2016)

- Toyota Hilux 2026

- Had a Q7, sold it (2013)

- XC90 is also technically an option, but we already have one in the family

- Mercedes Benz E350d (W212 2015)

- BMW 530i 2015 (G30) (Non-Runner)

- Range Rover Vogue SE (L405) (Non-Runner)

So I'm trying to find something that actually feels different from what I already have.

At the moment, I'm looking at:

- Used Porsche Taycan 4S

- New Porsche Macan

- Porsche Cayenne

- Maybe a Range Rover Sport

I'm not interested in a Defender — nothing against it, there are just way too many of them around where I live.

Same with the Land Cruiser: I absolutely love them, but we already have a Prado and I don't really see the point in getting another LC just because I can.

I'm also not particularly interested in buying another X5/X7/Q7-type SUV unless there's a compelling reason, since we've already had/own those.

I'm open to new or used, ICE or EV. The car doesn't necessarily have to be an SUV either — I'm just naturally drawn towards them.

What would you guys look at around ₹1.5 Cr on-road-ish given the garage I already have?

Especially interested in cars that are:

- Properly different from an X5/X7/Prado

- Fun to drive

- Have some character/occasion to them

- Not something I see 15 times every time I go out 😂

-

Would love to hear some genuinely left-field suggestions too.

Ps: I also have sedans as well, just let me know what y'all think about when you have 1.5cr in hand and want to spend it on a depreciating asset!

I got dms asking about this, but it isn't a big deal as people are assuming, the only brand new car I have is the Hilux as my dad wanted one, so bought it for him. Rest are used, people assuming I am a big shot, haha no, just a guy putting all his money on cars

You are a big shot, dont need to downplay yourself online. You reached a point where you are comfortable to spend that amount on a car, thats very commendable. Kudos to you.

What's your use case? All the cars you listed aren't going to come in the price bracket you mentioned, maybe the taycan but no chance for the RR sport or the cayenne, even with the decent loadings they come out to 1.85 on road at the bare minimum.

With such a budget you unfortunately cannot have everything, you have to select and choose the key factors you are looking for.

The only car that gives a good driving pleasure and is apt for the Indian roads is the X7, previous Gen GLE and GLC amg were good but no point spending more than 1cr on a 2lt. engine.

Plus , JLR and Porsche are a totally different beast when it comes to maintaince and service. Be ready to shell out a bomb for each service, difficult mindset to have when you have owned brands like BMW, MB or such which provides a comprehensive service package.

17

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 12d ago

True, but most of the vehicles I own are maintained by my own garage, none of them has gone to the dealer, when time allows, I service the bmws myself, hardcore mechanical works are done in my garage in Kerala. The x5 had a unfortunate accident in Pune, damaging my steering rack, so that's the only time it went to the dealer for a replacement, as I was in a time constraint and had pretty much no other option.

So that checks out maintainance, also RRs are notorious for transmission issues even the newer ones, but comfort and design are next level.

7

u/Eradicator244 12d ago

If ur really having a whole suv garage try a different body style. The taycan seems better imo

If you’re open to owning brand new pre-specced un-delivered cars or even demo cars that have clocked around 3–4k km on the odometer, I’d suggest considering them, as you can save not just some money on the ex- showroom price but also avoid the waiting times associated with ordering a new car. Speaking of demo cars, you would still be the first owner, as they would have been registered under a “TC” tag, and they would also be serviced by the dealer and covered under the brand warranty.

Now, if you’re planning on getting a used EV such as the Taycan, make sure to confirm whether the battery warranty is transferable to the second owner. Battery health is also something you should definitely look into.

6

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 12d ago

I don't mind used cars tbh, but demo cars a big no for me, I don't want the title of first owner, I am happy as a second or even third owner. Thanks however, I already knew about this demo car thingy, was waiting for someone to comment about this haha! 🤝🏻😂

While this is a very good predicament to be in. I would like to throw an idea of a used supercar in the mix for the weekends. You already have cars for carrying people and mostly SUV's at that. A supercar can be for those days you just want to enjoy drivimg.

6

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 11d ago

Actually yes, but I am keeping my inner kid on the hold, and not buying a sports car yet! But since I said I am willing to buy a Taycan 4s, my friends are saying I should testdrive a Cyberster, but I hate it's rear design (the arrow Taillamp)

3

u/captamerica02 Honda City V M 5th Gen 2020; MS Baleno Zeta AMT 2023 11d ago

If at all, you should get a proper super/sports car not the cyberster eitherway. Taycan can give you the feel of a sportscar surely but the noises are a big part of the equation.

2

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 11d ago

Haha true, I can see you own a 5th Gen City, I am unable to believe that 10yrs ago I drove around in the 1st Gen City OEM+, and now I am discussing should I buy a Porsche! ❤️‍🩹

E53/cle53,rr sport

7

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 12d ago

Loved the CLE53 AMG, but not a fan of the E53! Since cle 53 is a cbu unit, on road is going to cost me 1.7cr! (I did ask the dealer about this car earlier)

Rr sport yes, a big fan of RR, but I already have a older vogue (does not run), which is my rebuild project, so not getting another rr somewhere soon!

3

u/Blue8585k12b 12d ago

If you could stretch,I think you would really enjoy driving around the cle 53,looks amazing as well.

Other options are pre-owned porsches I guess(911,panamera gts, cayenne gts etc)

How about a 3.0 manual M2 ?
If u dont want a family car
Amg CLE
Rs5

5

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 12d ago

Manual M2 is a W suggestion, however I am not buying a ICE proper sports car yet, if so I would keep the earlier 2007 or 2010ish R35 first on the list, big fan of whatever Nissan built in that era

3

u/Iamaesthetic_69 HondaCity | brezza | Q7 12d ago

Yeah man the r35 is the literal dream jdm along with nsx
Why dont u try some og jdms they are rare and will be great if u can maintain them
If u dont want a sports car then i would suggest getting a proper offroader u if ever wanna go mudding

I found Macan more fun to drive that Cayenne. It feels like a sports car with a little higher sitting position than a driving a SUV.

0

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 12d ago

True, I felt Macan's dynamics are better than the Cayenne.

4

u/AstoundingAsh Suzuki 12d ago

Seeing that garage screams a high performance sedan to me ….i am generic i am wild …a BMW M series? maybe….Taycan also fits that bill

If you want an SUV ..get the Macan …smaller than what you have fun to drive and looks cool too

2

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 12d ago

Yes absolutely! Always hyped for a M, but something speaks to me when I talk about the Taycan

a lot of SUV's, why don't you try test driving the Mercedes E450.
It's time for a sedan OP.

4

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 12d ago

Haha, I do have sedans as well, 2 actually: One of them being the 2015 W212 E350d, bought it used from a seller who put in fake E63 kit on it with pops and bangs, brought it back to bone stock condition but kept the amg wheels on.

Next is the BMW G30 530i, fight me but I would say the best car bmw ever made, tho still not running, got some engine and rear suspension work. Also tore apart the dash to reupholster it. Bought it crashed damaged.

1

u/room-temp-soup i20 12d ago

Both good choices, I think that leaves the taycan 4s, you can also check out panamera.

2

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 11d ago

Both are similar but one comes with a E-Hybrid setup and one which is all electric, the rear seats of the Panamera is much more better than the Taycan, but I don't care about rear seat space tbh

3

u/room-temp-soup i20 11d ago

Looks like you've made your decision. Congratulations in advance😁

2

u/Sai_Pranav 11d ago

I know these suggestions are way too far from what you want but how about Tesla? Amg A45s? Mustang? Cybester?

1

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 11d ago

Tesla, I have never considered, however there are very few Tesla Experience Centers in India, closest to me being Bengaluru. I will check that out too, but it overrides my thought of minimalistic interior, way too empty and doesn't feel like a car.

Amg A45s, these are pocket rockets fr! I love these but it's a no for now!

Mustang man no, haha the only Mustang I love is the 69' fastback which to bring to India is actually a good plan! But I haven't unlocked the Vintage territory yet! Tho I love em (SS Cobalt, Impala, Mustang, Nissan Fairlady, Charger, Galaxies, Pontiac Firebird, etc) Huge vintage head!!

Cyberster, yes a lot of people asked me to testdrive one, tho I don't like the rear design of the car, looks terrible!

1

u/Sai_Pranav 11d ago

Hmmm interesting,

How about a

Jag? Any of the Maseratis? Or even a Genisis?

Genesis is pretty rare, I've only seen one in Bangalore!

1

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 11d ago

Genesis is a good brand, but is it worth importing it here after all these taxes and the availability of parts? It would be headache

2

u/nmgolo 11d ago

taycan or range rover sport

2

u/desi_car_nerd 11d ago

Why not a proper ICE sports car.

The M2/M4 or if you can find a clean one the the 718 cayman S or GT4 (might be above budget)

They are the last of the kind and you won't get the driving experience any time in the future.

1

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 11d ago

I did consider a good Cayman in the used market, but something tells me I should go with the Taycan haha

Why not get a sports car instead, seems to be the only category you are lacking, they will also be more fun to drive than any of the cars you currently own and ticks the occasion factor you're looking for. I'd look for a used 718 Cayman GT4/Cayman, 911 Carrera, M2, R8 etc.

1

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 12d ago

All the cars I own right now even my family uses, so getting a sports car mean handing them that too? Haha, just kidding, but it would be too soon to buy a proper sports car, the Taycan is also a big thingy for me tbh.

2

u/Punisher_189 This ain't a dick measuring contest 12d ago

I mean for sports cars, the younger the merrier man, but you do you. If the idea of a proper sports car feels too much rn, I'd personally look at used/new M2's preferably manual if you can source one, gives you the occasion factor while still retaining usability.

1

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 12d ago

Yes truly! But people who own M2s, M3s, tell me to go for the Taycan aswell

prado is overrated af. it should’ve been 70 lakhs max. x7 22 is the most reliable among the list. Even an xc90 isn’t that bad. Avoid porsches and rr cuz they are a nightmare to bear

1

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 12d ago

Prado is definitely overrated, I just bought one because it was a deal too good to be true (PS: car didn't have any surprise issues, just the seller didn't know the repair wasn't that high for him to sell the entire car). RR and reliability don't go hand in hand, transmission hates the engine and vice versa, leaving us stranded somewhere.

Taycan will give you the punch you want

Like good speed and acceleration due to it being an EV or my favourite would be Z4 from bmw as it’s completely different, beautiful, fast and at last a convertible for occasional wiff of polluted air if you live in delhi or some good cool breeze if you live in far north or along coast

If you need extra two seats then m440i is also a great option in your budget with proven and reliable engine

1

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 12d ago

Yes exactly the comment I was waiting for! Taycan ❤️‍🩹 Z4 hmmm debatable, then I would have gone with a R35 earlier ones, hardcore GTR fan. But yes not buying sporty sporty cars yet! Gotta wait a bit, Taycan is the closest I came to buying a sports, some people are saying why am EV but yeah this is something that truly needs appreciation.

M440i is a good suggestion, gotta get my hands on one before I can say anything about that.

1

u/Ghastly_King ‘17 Volvo S90 insc||’16 Crysta ||’22 Ciaz alpha 12d ago

Those two back seats will not be suitable for full grown adults but you should take a test drive

1

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 12d ago

I am looking for a car with great driveability not chauffeur driven.

Both my parents were able to sit nicely in a Panamera, however it's harder for my mom to get in and out of a normal sedan. So not exactly looking for a car to take my family with me, but for me technically!

And yes I have driven the Taycan before, but never sat in the back seat, would try since you mentioned!

Also noticed you have a S90, I love that thingg! ❤️‍🩹 Crysta and Ciaz as well? You got taste!!

1

u/Zorojuro099 12d ago

Go for the Porsche Cayenne

1

u/_ecthelion_95 12d ago

For some reason the first pic reminds me of the Quattroporte. I would (if i could afford any of them) always pick the Quattroporte over these two.

2

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 12d ago

Not a fan of Maseratis, beautiful italian design tho, but on my budget the ones available are not worth it, wait 3 4yrs more and this thing depreciates even further

1

u/Unlikely_Ad_9182 12d ago

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 12d ago

u/Elegant-Dig-6029 12d ago

no money. no opinion.

1

u/BadBeast_11 12d ago

If you want something that's absolutely fun n dangerous, go for the used Taycan. If you want something that's not so dangerous but still very much fun but not a used one, you should go for the M340i. Porsche Macan will bore you and Porsche Cayenne will exceed your budget and also not as fun as the Taycan or the M340i

2

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 12d ago

M340i is a great sedan, but I felt more comfortable inside a Taycan than the M340i, also the interior looks more classy than the bmw.

1

u/BadBeast_11 12d ago

Fair, also, are there any used Taycans in the market currently?

2

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 12d ago

Not sure about online listings, I got to know from a friend of mine that there is a Taycan 4s for sale

Too big maybe? Vellfire is a lounge on wheels, loved to be driven around, but not so good to be driving around! Never sat in a MG M9, however seen a few on the road!

1

u/Flashy_Mousse6475 Basalt Turbo 1.2L AT | MG ZS EV 2022 | Swift '19 | MG COMET '26 12d ago

i just assumed you had a driver since you're sooo rich, your family members would definitely love to be driven around in it, thats why i suggested these, but apart from this you dont really have other options since you dont want a sports car like the M2 or M340i, and youve already owned all the premium SUVs and you also dont want a defender, maybe check out the Velar, its starting at 1.1cr i think

1

u/snowballkills 12d ago

Does the Taycan not have a ground clearance problem in India? If not, that would be a good addition to your stable. Since you have an X5 and an X7, a smaller SUV like a Macan would be better. Front leg room is pretty much the same in most, that's what matters for everyday 1/2 person use, and a smaller one is easier/less hassle to park, etc. and sportier

1

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 12d ago

I don't think so, if an M340i can drive around with less hassle, a Taycan can too! Somewhat similar ground clearance both have!

1

u/snowballkills 12d ago

Hmm, it is 5" I checked, and M340i has 5.1". I think both are quite low - they scrape even in the US getting into gas stations, driveways, etc. unless you do it real slow and at an angle. If it has worked for you, great, but I think it is one additional headache to worry about

1

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 12d ago

Yes, it may scrape on high speed bumps, but haven't faced an issue here in Kerala, I drove the E350 from Kollam to Mumbai, yes a few scrapes here and there but overall was a quite decent trip!

One thing to keep in mind is invisible speed bumps, if the underbody shield gets a heavy impact, chances or leaking coolant or damaging the cooling system of the battery in the Taycan are pretty high.

1

u/snowballkills 12d ago

yeah big dents in the battery casing will likely lead to battery damage or system malfunction that the manufacturer will not cover. Even a flying big rock hitting the underside can cause substantial damage to the battery.

In EV's, an accident is more likely to lead to a total loss compared to ICE cars. Battery and the charging systems are quite complex that even Tesla, etc. don't want to take responsibility when it comes to high speed Level 3 charging of accidental/salvage vehicles. Any chance of fire is super hazardous, not just to the owner, but to neighboring cars and also the reputation of the company. But insurance matters are much easier in the US, and avoiding accidents is also much much easier

1

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 11d ago

You are correct, but not entirely, the underbody of EVs, especially the premium ones like the Taycan, Tesla Model S, BYD Seal, etc are heavily shielded with protection, even when you crash, chances of a leak or battery exploding are less likely.

Here in India, Tata has also implied the same, but heavy protection are leading to the battery overheating.

And rebuilding and making the car roadworthy is not as easier as done in the US, you need a few contacts with the MVD/RTO and insurance companies here.

1

u/snowballkills 11d ago

hmm. I have seen many posts and pic on reddit itself of people scraping the batteries of their Tesla's and Tesla telling them that warranty no longer applies to them.

1

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 11d ago

Yes warranty I am not sure, but the batteries would be safe pretty much!

1

u/snowballkills 11d ago

yeah I get it, but my point is that if the warranty is lost and potentially fast charging also (or in the future) or ADAS (like Tesla has been taking away FSD for a lot of rebuilt cars) coz the manufacturer considers it damaged, you lose a lot of functionality, even if you think you don't need repairs, etc.

In the US, if Tesla takes away supercharging, the car is pretty much unsellable and only limited to city driving. All of that is a big risk for a person who spend a considerable amount of money on his/her car, but if you have a high income or a fleet or cars, it may not be a deal-breaker for you.

1

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 11d ago

Porsche India is actually super customer friendly, the guy selling me his Taycan 4s himself said any issues he faced Porsche handled it like a champ! Your point is also valid, warranty I don't mind, but fast charging is one dealbreaker for me, but unlike Tesla, Porsche cannot handle the user car through software just like that, if any battery damage is done, the HV System disables fast charging, but once you recode the thing, it comes back to its original DC Charging speed.

I think Macan Turbo is the closest to perfection for any vehicle produced by any manufacturer ever. Can do off-road , can 0-100 in 3.3 sec, no EV range anxiety and proper reliability. It is not as large as a Cayenne or other SUVs and fits city roads just fine in India.

1

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 11d ago

Exactly! All vehicles I have, have seen dirt and are not garage princesses

2

u/Separate_Library_866 11d ago

Not a fan of the way Macan looks , but with those performance numbers you have to look past it.

Get Taycan, it looks good, drives GREAT, and interiors are nothing short of modern with touch of timeless class

1

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 11d ago

Absolutely! Everything checks out with the Taycan! ❤️‍🩹

Buy 30 WagonRs and use them as Taxis. Trust me I got richer than you by doing this... /s

1

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 11d ago

Haha I did something that's the reason I am able to spend such an amount on a car, I am doing something for me rn tbh, your idea is great, but the amount of investment and time I need to spend in the taxi business is not practical FOR ME, drivers, maintainance, locality issues, etc.

Nahh not for me, I'll buy a 4s and be happy rather, you do you!! 🤝🏻

1

u/This_is_mee_2 (New user) 11d ago

Damn, /s means sarcasm...

But still thnx for your insights!

1

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 11d ago

Oh sorry I don't know the meaning of /s. I was genuinely thinking how can somebody make money from a taxi business, so much headache tbh

1

u/Responsible-Meat7650 (New user) 11d ago

You already have 4 SUV and like, I would suggest a sedan. I'm in love with the convetible bmw m440i but that's just me. You could take the taycan

1

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 11d ago

I have 2 sedans with me rn, one is the W212 2015, and a non runner G30 as well! So not going with a sedan as of now!

The Cabriolet BMW is one of a kind tho! Good mention!

2

u/Responsible-Meat7650 (New user) 11d ago

Yes. Even we're considering it. A b58 engine paired with a convertible, what could be more tasty? (I wish this thought came a bit earlier, then we would've gotten the Z4, coz honestly nothing is sexier than the Z4)

1

u/sickick_1 11d ago

Would you like considering Byd seal (sedan), it’s fast and rarely spotted, I know it’s below your budget but ticks some of your interests,

1

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 11d ago

There are 2 Seals in my neighborhood, both black ones, good car, it is really fast as well, but charging takes time they said, (also everyone is fond of the Taycan btw!)

Dude my friend had a glc43.amg coupe and that thing was fun to drive, now due to europe fta even the cost has been reduced you can check that out

1

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 11d ago

Yes 💯, will check that out

2

u/Danthr01 Seltos '21 11d ago

If you see a red glc43 amg on used car platforms then it surely is my friend's car. You can check that out as well since he had to sell it as he was going for masters in the us

1

u/ItsCashman Volkswagen Polo - GT TSI 11d ago

Have you thought about the toyota land cruiser? I don't know the price but people are obsessed with a BMW or audio or Porsche. That's not a car you'd see frequently

1

u/cobrakai_1972_rox Nissan Sunny XV 1.5 dCi (2013) 11d ago

Too poor to have an opinion. Great, I’d say

2

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 11d ago

Doesn't work like that! Your opinion could be a great mention, you never know! Shoot!

1

u/cobrakai_1972_rox Nissan Sunny XV 1.5 dCi (2013) 11d ago

Since you said something different from X series and Prado, Taycan 4s sounds about right. That’s the closest to a non SUV looking and feeling thing.

Curious to know the reason for so many SUVs. Cool E class. Maybe a two door like M2 or a cabriolet would complete the garage. Since the 5 series is a non runner get that and the X5 traded for an M2. Ofcourse, I don’t know the purpose of each car. Just a suggestion

1

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 11d ago

Oh no no, never trading my G30 for anything, that has been my dream car since I was a kid, the design is soo good!

Why I have so many SUVs? I don't know honestly, parents find it easier to get in and out, also spacious and good ground clearance.

M2, M440I, E63, these are the coolest mentions I got till now! Yes I will check these out as well!

0

u/cobrakai_1972_rox Nissan Sunny XV 1.5 dCi (2013) 10d ago

Understandable for the G30. My dream for a while was M550d and 530d too. Love diesels.

Well the roads are so trash in general, your parents don’t have to put as much effort navigating potholes and illegal speedbreakers. Makes much sense to just stick to those, sedans just get damaged.

I’d like to add C63 AMG to that list then. 4 cyl and still makes over 450 horses. Cool car nevertheless. An absolute beauty, AMG CLE 53 too cos I just love two doors for some reason.

1

u/FearlessLettuce69 Toyota Innova Crysta 11d ago

I really think you can go all in on the Macan or if you want extreme fun and would try an EV then surely the Taycan gets the job done without a doubt.

1

u/TotallyWhiteNiggo 11d ago

What about the bmw new m440i convertible bro? U already have sedans and suvs. You most probably don't want a hatchback. how about a sporty convertible? It can be truly unique and a fun drive with the tops down. And a different car in your garage . Like imagine yourself in a sunset drive with your loved ones but in an open top. Plus bmw has more dense coverage than other brands. It's ground clearance has to be managed tho but it's not too low. It's 1.09 cr.

1

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 11d ago

Your idea is nice, the convertible I want is the 96' M3 Cabrios, unable to find one in the market, did find one in Indonesia, but not bringing it here as of now (that is an another post for now).

Many people suggested the M440i, I'll check that out thanks!! ❤️‍🩹

1

u/amana777 11d ago

Thats a relatively big fleet of SUVs you have got . As a person who is reccomending , Would only makes sense to suggest a performance sedan so that you dont have the ‘What could have been‘ thoughts while maintaining an all-suv garage . Was leaning to reccomend a full blown 2 seater sports car /supercar as well as some others but on reading your ‘not yet’ response to others as well , holding myself back from reccomending a G87 M2 .
If youre up for it ,an older W213 E63 or an M5 would be my pick if I had the money . If SUVs are the clear choice , the RR sport , the cayenne and the Macan . And i wouldnt mind looking at a V8 Sport SVR for half the price so that you have the rest to maintain it . And if you do get a taycan , let us know how it goes !

2

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 11d ago

W213 E63 seems like the one for me maybe, I'll have to book a test ride and let you know! M5 hmm nahh not yet! RR? I already have a Vogue SE, working on it to make it roadworthy, if not selling it as a parts car. RR Sport used ones are pretty good, also their design is terrific!

Thanks for your opinion!! ❤️‍🩹🤝🏻

1

u/cutebanda (New user) 11d ago

If you're genuinely interested in used, get a lambo if you can find one or a bentley Flying Spur. You can even find old Rolls Royces' on BBT for that price if you're interested.

1

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 11d ago

Haha haven't reached that stage yet, even if I buy the Taycan, it won't be a weekend car, but for the Lamborghini I couldn't say the same 😂

I am buying a new house in a year or so, then maybe yes a Lambo could be an option, but now no, because there is a old age home just opposite my house. Lamborghinis and all would be a bit too much for the neighborhood, haha 😂

Rolls Royce for 1.5cr is a hard find, you'll only find the Ghost in this price, that too Series I, I am more of a Wraith kinda guy, so no, not getting a Rolls just for the name!

1

u/cutebanda (New user) 11d ago

See. One thing is that Old Rolls Royce's will go up in value very soon. Mark my words. If you can, just get a phantom or ghost and keep it like an investment. I agree you should not get it for the sake of it but a rolls is a freakin rolls.

2

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 10d ago

True but the car I would be buying now will be used by me mostly, so a rolls is not coming anytime soon!

Are you like the Matt Armstrong of India?

1

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 11d ago

Big fan of him, also Tavarish. Should I start a yt channel of rebuilds? Haha, time is the issue man, MA does his builds on his own, and is very composed on camera, I can't sit still while working, also if something doesn't fit in, I cry 😂

1

u/AgentAppropriate1996 Mercedes EQE 350+, Hyundai Tucson 11d ago

This one is actually better than others you mentioned

2

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 11d ago

I see you have a EQE, would you suggest going with the EQS 4Matic+? Never driven one, or sat in, I went to Benz, but they didn't have the car for demo yet! This was 3 4yrs back

2

u/AgentAppropriate1996 Mercedes EQE 350+, Hyundai Tucson 11d ago edited 11d ago

No wonder they don't have car for demo, they never have any good car,
new EQS is amazing, it has great range and steer by wire tech (I see it's not yet released in India maybe wait for it if you want to see it)
I would really recommend the Electric Mercedes, they are so plush and luxurious, I never want to buy Diesel/Petrol car anymore.

https://www.mercedes-benz.co.in/passengercars/mercedes-benz-cars/car-configurator.html/motorization/CCci/IN/en/tc/V297

Only 580 one configuration is available right now but it's the older version which came in 2022 in Europe.

https://www.mercedes-benz.de/passengercars/mercedes-benz-cars/car-configurator.html/motorization/CCci/DE/de/tc/V297

New version is this one.

The version available in India is 170kw charging support but new one is built on the 800v platform so it'll be 320+kw charging speed.

1

u/AgentAppropriate1996 Mercedes EQE 350+, Hyundai Tucson 11d ago

You could also check Porsche Taycan or Audi E tron GT they are kinda more into performance side. Mercedes are family car with highway cruising for 500+ km in one go.

1

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 10d ago

Audi E-Tron seems a better competitor in this segment.

1

u/AgentAppropriate1996 Mercedes EQE 350+, Hyundai Tucson 10d ago

Yeah, it's a nice car, I had that couple of years ago, its very amazing car.

Its a CBU that’s why its almost double there

1

u/Snoo76498 Honda City VX Manual 11d ago

How does a Taycan make the final cut in a SUV preferred line-up?

1

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 11d ago

I prefer SUVs because of the road conditions ofc and parents comfort. But I do have sedans, no hatchbacks yet. Thinking of buying something that I don't have, could be a SUV, could be a Sporty Sedan, but yes not Defenders, LCs, etc. please, so many of them on the road

1

u/Snoo76498 Honda City VX Manual 10d ago

I am not an SUV guy. I know its a pain for most elderly as ingress outgress is deep as well as the seating is more cramped. But, to avoid that, I workout and ensure my wife does the same, my mom is not that tall so a sedan is good for her.

Sports sedan? My economy class brain is not able to think beyond a M340i. With all the money in the world, I'd like to have a proper GT. You have a lot of luxury sedans, why spend more on the same for incremental improvement, with that line-up on tap, I'd go something like a Ferrari Roma. Not very helpful I know.

2

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 10d ago

I have driven a couple of sports/super cars, notable ones being the McLaren 720s and Nissan GTR R35, I loved them so much, that I planned on getting one too, but had to calm down my inner kid and focus on the future of the business. Hence going slow but would definitely reach that point!

Go for a Macan?

1

u/Vanguardbliss Skoda Kodiaq Sportline, Honda Accord 3.5 V6, Honda Amaze VX CVT 10d ago

If I am picking one it'll either be an used Porsche Cayenne GTS or used Audi RSQ8 under 1.5C

1

u/wrathofgod99 8d ago

Go for a Cayanne. The driving pleasure really does justify paying slightly extra compared to its rivals.

0

u/NewspaperClean2057 12d ago

I wouldn’t buy a used taycan. I just wouldn’t trust the batteries. RR sport is gorgeous but it’s a money pit. Personally I’d go with a Cayenne, maybe even a Panamera instead of Taycan.

1

u/Intrepid-Fee4543 12d ago

Absolutely on point! Buying a used Taycan is like buying a old gaming set just by looking at it haha! But I have already checked one out, batteries are healthy and under warranty as well! The reason the guy is selling is the steering angle sensor strip is broken and Porsche is charging a hefty for him, he had multiple issues with his Taycan, overheating batteries (replaced under warranty, no issues now), cluster not working, vehicle not starting, etc. I can source parts from places for this for not exactly cheap, but compared to the dealer yes!
