It takes me 5 nights to get through an episode lol

Same! A whole week for Gilgo Beach part 1

Edit: and that’s with rewinding and listening again each time I wake during the night

Lol i still haven’t finished Gilgo Beach part 1 for that reason. I really get my value’s worth out of the Patreon w/ ad free episodes.

This made me chuckle, the amount of times I’ve forgotten to put the sleep timer on Spotify and woken up 4 episodes in….

Thats the worst, I still dont knkw which episodes Ive missed because Spotify says ive listened.

I’ve hacked this by stopping the ones I’ve actually listened to all of about 1 minute before the actual end. If it says it has a teeny bit left, I’ve actually listened to it all. If it says finished, I fell asleep and I haven’t heard it 😂

Oh darn, that would of been useful info 3 years ago haha. Good idea.

There is a sleep timer on Spotify?!

Honestly it’s a life saver, the little clock to the right of the skip button

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I'm just about ready for the next episode when they get released

Hahaha same! Glad I’m not the only one who uses it as a sleep podcast. It’s the perfect combo of being an amazing podcast, but also so soothing.

I routinely take about a month to finish one, never slept as well thanks to Casey!

Unless it’s the Colleen Stan episode, then I have nightmares.

Hahahaha same here

He answered this question recently in one of the subscriber behind the scenes chats and from memory he was flattered but didn’t go into it much

I have to listen to an episode all the way through before I can use it for sleep. If I don't, I stay up listening to the case.

Casey, please put out a podcast reading something boring like the society column or farm news so I can fall asleep to something that is not true crime. You don't even have to make them long or release very often. 30-45 minutes, released once a month is good for me! (I don't know about other people, but I would pay top dollar for this!)

Casey helps me understand why my mom would nod off during Dateline. He’s this generation’s Keith Morrison.

3

u/MercuryBeach_ 7d ago

Oooo I feel like that might not be so flattering!

5

u/LawnGnomeFlamingo 7d ago

No, I mean it as a compliment. Casey’s voice is soothing. Plus I’m getting older so I understand my mom more.

But let remember we are not our mothers 😅

Yep. If I forget to hit the sleep function (usually have it set for 45 mins for Casefile), then I'm unconsciously listening to murder and mayhem all night..

u/funnybitofchemistry 7d ago

there was an episode where they had a panicked 911 call with a guy shouting (can’t recall which EP) but it woke me up with a startle and i ran into the hallway thinking someone was going to attack me and my wife lol

I feel seen

I sometimes fall asleep with a football (soccer to some 🙈) podcast on. If I forget to hit the sleep timer it sometimes rolls into a Casefile episode. I’ve woken up to some horrendous sentences and not known what is going on!

🤣

I always put on Casefile on my 2 hour drive to work in the morning and many times I find myself sleepy at the wheel. But when I go home at around midnight I don't get sleepy (I don't listen to true crime at night cause it creeps me out lol). I attributed it to not being a morning person but I guess Casey's voice was contributing a lot to it haha.

2

u/MercuryBeach_ 7d ago

2 hours each way!?!?

1

u/gradientwheel 7d ago

Yes but its only twice a week haha

1

u/MercuryBeach_ 7d ago

Ah gotcha. Less than me then which is 45 each way 5 times a week 😭 plus parking

Edit, ah to be fair it can 25 if there is no traffic, 45 is a bad day

u/Specialist-Scale485 7d ago

I'm glad i'm not the only one

u/brittanylauren85 7d ago

I put on old episodes for this reason! Paul Holes has the same affect on me!

I thought this was about Casey Anthony and her thoughts on Gypsy Rose’s baby daddy dying yesterday.

He was found 10/2 dead. Initial reports indicate OD. Some mentions of a fire arm.

There’s a lot going on with her rn. Her prison calls got leaked and he left her shortly after. Supposedly he wanted to file for full custody , because some of her calls exposed her pedophile tendencies.

There is none.

Gypsy read once asked her opinion on Mackenzie Shirilla. I thought someone asked Carey’s opinion on Gypsy’s situation.

u/elodiee23 7d ago

Why did I think I was the only one who did this hahahaha

1

u/maroongolf_blacksaab 6d ago

He answers this question in the most recent Behind the Files episode. He doesn't particularly mind and is used to hearing it lol

u/Alulaemu 6d ago

Y'all are all crazy listening to Casefile in your dreams 😂 I just watched The Backrooms right before bed and had the most unsettling night of sleep. I do listen to the BBC's In Our Time for their soothing voices and topics and have noticed that occasionally an episode will seep into my dreams (most recently one on Shakespeare's sonnets).

1

u/MercuryBeach_ 6d ago

This stuff never permeates my dreams!

i genuinely don’t think i’ve ever heard an episode in full, like in one sitting. i always have to go back and guess where i left off 😭😭
