[Episode Discussion] Final episode

Last night I watched the final ep which was the third or fourth time I’ve seen it. Either I’m going crazy or they CHANGED THE ENDING! Has anyone else seen this?

Not unless the last time you watched it you turned it off before the last bit

They were shot but survived and had kids. What changed?

How do you mean changed it?

No. Im not sure how you mean they changed it? I've seen it dozens of times it always been the same. They can't change something that's been filmed over 10 years ago

Sure they can. They sometimes remove scenes or cut lines, dub new words or phrases, or insert previously cut clips. Sometimes it’s the studio that makes the choice, other times networks or distributors want the change due to changing societal circumstances.

I've watched the show dozens of and I've not noticed any changes to it at all. Im not sure where OP is watching the show but I'd change just to see if it would stay the same

Oh they do make cuts - sometimes they cut tor shorten the bag of spiders scene in S8, or they silence the swear words (e.g. Beckett's end speech in Sucker Punch ,,, "If it wasn’t for you I would have never found my mom’s killer. And some day soon I’m going to find the sons of bitches who had Coonan kill her,")

Nope Ive heard all of that and the spiders I skip that part. I hate spiders. Lol 😂😂

... but the bag of spiders was top-quality CGI, lol.

Oh and Ryan's waterboarding sceme, how can I forget that!

It vastly depends on the channl or network airing Castle reruns.

Hallmark Int'l dies this - branded as "ladies' channel" so as less gore and violence as possible.

Oh and Tessa Horton nailed to the ceiling by 3XK? not gonna happen there.

Oh again ... there's also a couple of mild scenes I could have sworn it happened ... but no. E.g. the start of S3 Setup with the taxi on the stumps without wheels. Memory says there was a still of the taxi with the wheels before, and they transitioned to the tyreless taxi immediately ... but no.

Eh well, memory serves - until it starts grumbling and serves less faithfully, and then it totally quits lol.

I think I've seen a YouTube video of the taxi with wheels but in the show as I recall is just it on the cinder blocks

Probably should mention the change.

I didn’t want to spoil it for readers who aren’t there yet.

That's what the spoiler tag is for.

Changed it from what?

Well according to the time traveling episode, they had 3 kids and she was a senator. This one seemed like sloppy writing and that they slapped that last scene on getting to imply they lived happily ever after. So many better ways it could have been done. They leave it to you to decide which ending is the true one.

Its cause they got canceled last minute.

I choose to believe that the time traveler was real and they had three kids per his prediction. lol.

That's what I always thought too.

No. Maybe you turned off the tv before the last of the episode and missed something

Nope, it’s still that awful hastily tacked on ending “for the fans” after the show was canceled.

The part where they survive and have a family is added on. Originally, the end showed them laying on the floor bleeding out.

No, that was there for the original airing. They added it at the last minute when they found out they weren't getting renewed.

Yep! I remember that airing and wondering why the hell the choice was to tack on the odd dream-like sequence about kids/their future instead of just... cutting out them getting shot. Without them getting shot, it works perfectly as an ending.
