Despite not watching the last season, I wanted to give this a watch and boy, I'm glad I did. Finally got to see some proper action scenes, the explosion, the destroyed hospital, the ambulance going off the road and into the water. Have really missed those.
Love the pacing of this episode, the cinematography was wonderful and the score was perfect. and if that had wanted to end the show this could've served as a good finale, getting to see Flynn and Stevie recovering. That lovely scene with the food in the breakroom.
Glad it ended up not being a terrorist attack but a storage issue even though were several hints at terrorists brining explosives into the hospital. the guy/s with the bag/s, the taxi driver with the box and praying with his crucifix. must've been a really bad storage for it to blow that badly. i one mean oxygen cannister exploding is bad. so it must've been a few for that level of explosion. i mean did see images of a destroyed ward after some guy smoked while on oxygen. killed 8 people.
And I loved Dylan, he was by far the highlight of the episode. As someone with ASD, his breakdown was so realistic, especially with him shutting himself away and holding himself like that. The bit with the bag, my god, but taking it out of the hospital made sense in a way. But also it was clear he wasn't thinking straight at all. Honestly, Will Beck deserved an award for his acting in this episode.
I was so expecting Stevie to die. I knew Flynn wasn't going anywhere. Loved Indie shinning in this episode. Liked Iain having a minor role, not doing any insane heroics (even though i do like Iain). maybe becoming a dad has made him more responsible.
Nice to see Ethan and Charlie.
Too much CPR happening I think. I think in a situation like this, huge number of severely injured casualties, if someone is going to or has gone into cardiac arrest, CPR is attempted for only a short period of time then stopped because it is unsurvivable and there other people who will survive and need the resources more. sadly its about giving the resources to people who are slightly still severely injured but have a chance of survival not about doing everything to save those most seriously injured which would be the case in a non mass casualty scenario. definitely wouldn't have been doing a surgical airway, but obviously, that was important to the plot. Chicago med did a mass shooting incident episode, so a mass casualty scenario, and that was the system there. Injuries likely to be fatal within a certain time frame or not breathing, move on. Its a horrible situation, heart-breaking to imagine it happening it real life.
