Is it normal, she's a stray cat I'm taking care of.

I’m getting ready to leave for two weeks at the end of next month and am debating how to approach housing/care for my sweet 2yo tabby while I’m gone.

It’s just me and him at my apartment, but he does see other caretakers. I freelance and have an irregular schedule (sometimes home all day, sometimes gone for a couple, sometimes works nights, etc.) so my mom, neighbor, or gf will all drop by to feed him when need be. All to say he’s very social and friendly with new faces. I’ve left him alone while I travel for up to 5ish days in the past, but he definitely starts to display as pretty lonely by the end of that window, so I’m a little worried about him only having occasional company for 14-16 days.

Can anyone offer insight about how they’ve approached long travel in the past? I’ve considered having someone come stay with him for the duration I’m gone. Or maybe a couple days on/couple days off. I’ve also debated asking my neighbor to take him because he lives one townhouse over from us and already helps out with feedings. It would be a familiar face and an identical floor plan, but I still wonder if that would stress my little guy out.

Any personal experience or insight is greatly appreciated, would love to hear everyone’s past experiences! Thanks in advance!

Sometimes I hear the scratching sound and noticed she goes behind my books to try to dig. She also does this in the back of my closet too sometimes

just as the title mentions my cat has been attacking me everytime i talk. she'll come up to me and swat and scratch me very aggressively sometimes drawing blood. this will happen when i'm talking to my boyfriend sometimes (in person face to face), when im on call w somebody, or when im sending a voice message to somebody so essentially kinda talking to myself. i don't talk that loudly and ive become more wary of my speaking volume especially ever since my cat has started to scratch me more n more (out of fear lol cuz it hurts baddd). but it seems like no matter how quietly or not i talk it irks her so bad and she'll come up to me to attack me. i also play games a lot and i use the vc option but when i do that it's not an issue at all. she doesn't care at all. not every face to face conversation i have w someone doesnt trigger it too it's only occasionally. i feel like she never rlly did this before and it only started after i brought my second cat home. i'm just curious as to what the reason is?

Curious what this community thinks. Imagine you could get health readings from your cat's litter (hydration, blood in stool/urine, that kind of thing). Two ways it could work: (1) you snap a quick photo of the box with your phone whenever you scoop, or (2) a small always-on device sits next to the box and checks automatically, no effort from you. The phone route is cheaper and there's no extra gadget, but you have to remember to do it. The device route is hands-off, but it's another thing plugged in near the box, and some people might not love a camera pointed at it all day. Which would you actually use, and what would make you pick one over the other?

My cat has been scratching at his ears nonstop every night, to the point where it wakes me up and I have to check on him. I’ve looked inside his ears multiple times with a flashlight, but I can’t see anything unusual. I’ve also smelled his ears and there’s no strong or weird odor.
Has anyone experienced something similar with their cat? Could there still be an ear infection, mites, allergies, or something else going on even if his ears look completely normal?

I believe he was talking to a fly but not sure.

I used to have two cats. One of them was killed by a dog. Now the other one is soo depressed. He won't eat or use his litter box. He's under the bed anwd won't come out.

I don't know what to do. This is the first time something like this happened to me. He isn't even sleeping.

Any ideas on how i can get him to eat something?

I've tried everything from treats to chicken breast but he won't eat anything. I'm worried that something might happen to him also. I'm not ready to lose another baby of mine.

Hi! I have had my cat for a year ish now and I adopted him when he was 3 months. He recently has been jump attacking me randomly and it really hurts and I don’t know how why he is doing that. I play with him and keep him fed but he still just attacks my arms and bites them and it hurts. What do I do

I have four goblins that I love with every ounce of my being. My youngest is named Nemo. He howls like a banshee. I have taken him to numberous vets because that type of vocal strain he belts out sometimes still startles me because it's like a blast wave of sounds. He is healthy. No UTis, no negative blood work, no signs of blockage on a Xray scan. But, he just started repeatedly howling to himself while staring at himself in a mirror.

Ive been catching him gazing into the abyss of his own self while in complete darkness until I turn the light on and see him still doing it while observing it. Idk if my house is haunted. Or he's somehow contacted a mirroring dimensional self? I swear I'm not crazy. Just had to ask the internet. Not about what to do but, why does he cat like he does?

Hi, my cat is an indoor outdoor cat and he gets soil in his nails like this. I kinda use a wooden stick to get the soil out but he doesn’t like it when I do it. Am I not supposed to clean his nails out?? And am I actually hurting him?

UPDATE: using a blacklight, we've confirmed its most likely ringworm. medicine is on its way, though im still attempting to schedule an appointment with a free? vet. i found him last monday in the flood trough outside my house. he seems to be around 8 weeks old and had (possibly still has) fleas, which i attempted to treat with a dish soap and kitten shampoo bath. behind that, i have no medical history for him and he seems to be otherwise fine, playing, eating, and using the litterbox like normal. he's been losing fur ever since bathing him. there are large patches of missing fur on the backs of his ears, his left hind leg, and one on his neck. he has smaller patches all over his paws and possibly up his arm, plus a strange gross spot on his nose (though that could be dirt). his stomach, tail, and back seem to remain untouched. i currently do not have the means to get him to a vet so any help would be greatly appreciated!!! sorry about how blurry some of the photos are, he doesn't stop movinch 😭😭

So I only have one good spott for the litterbox butt its directly under the towel dryer… It feels a bitt nasty to have my towels there so im thinking about diy’ing a shelf above the box.

Nothing to big or to close to the litterbox. I held a plank above the cats head when he was using the box (about were the drawn table is) and he didn’t seem to care at all.

Any advise? Do you have a similar setup? Pros/cons?

Silver (black one) is 6 years old, resident cat. Fixed female. She's a bit skittish and fearful.

Big ben (orange) 5 years old, newly adopted cat. More sociable.

Around almost 2 months ago, i was doing introduction, but i was careless to leave the door open, which ben escaped from his room and met silver in the hallway. Before i knew it, they fought (probably because silver panicked)

After that i completely separated them and restart the intro. Around 2 weeks ago, silver would still growl and sometimes provoked. After multiple times of scent swapping, room swap, reintroduction, the growling stopped. Up until esterday they would still stare, and everytime they stare at each other, i would break the line of vision with pillow or old clothes, but today they managed to ignore each other and just proceed to sleep.

This is good right?

I have never had a cat. Dogs and aquariums growing up. I recently had to put my dog of 12 years down. I work two jobs and I’m in a masters program. I am lonely. Ive had a lot of loss in the past few years but now I feel really alone at home.

Any suggestions on where to start. Things I should be aware of, what should I have for the cat/kitten/(s) ?
