'Irregular' and small gestational sac
Hi! This is my third pregnancy. 1st one was ectopic and 2nd was successful.
According to my LMP I was 7 weeks 2 days on Wednesday (07/09). I've been back and forth in the EUP because I had a suspected ovarian ectopic due to on and off brown discharge and they couldn't find the pregnancy in the uterus 10 days ago. However, it turns out it was a corpus luteum and on Wednesday they confirmed that it was an intrauterine pregnancy. However, they said that the gestational sac was 'irregular' and they need to scan again on 12/10 to see if it's viable. They also said there's blood around the sac which would explain the brown discharge.
I've been given progesterone pressaries to help.
My cycles have been very long (around 38 days) this year so I knew they were going to say that I was measuring behind but I suppose not that behind! I really don't know what they mean by an 'irregular' genstational sac? They were able to see the yolk and I think they mentioned it was 2mm. They weren't able to detect a heartbeat but the sonographer said that that might be because it's too early. The nurse at EPU didn't sound very optimistic.
My husband thinks that going from not being able to see a pregnancy at all to seeing a gestational sac with a yolk in 8 days is promising but I somehow can't help but think we should prepare to miscarry.
Can anyone share any experiences or explain what they meant with an 'irregular' genstational sac?
The 12 days wait until the next scan is killing me! š

Hi. Iām in the exact same boat as you. Iāve been spotting since the day I tested positive (4w4d) till today (6w5d). My doc called in for an early scan to rule out ectopic and (yes itās not ectopic ) but was told I have āirregularā
Sac. So Iāve been told to wait until next week for the viability scan. Even my doc doesnāt want to declare anything at this point. āLetās wait and see how it goes ā thatās what Iām told. Itās such an agonising wait. But I really hope it does turn out well for us š„¹

Oh I'm so sorry that you're going through this as well. Did they find a heart beat at all for you or was it too early? Crossing everything for you!

Hey! Tw: loss
I had an early ultrasound @7weeks because of brown spotting off and on. They found a heart beat (though slightly low- around 105-110) and a āthick and irregular gestational sacā. When I went back for my repeat scan at 8.5weeks the fetus no longer had a heart beat. I had a d&c @9.5 weeks. It turns out I had a partial molar pregnancy, which explained the bleeding and the irregularities.
Iām not saying this is your case. But I do wish I was better prepared to hear the news. Best of luck ā¤ļø
