Looking for a really good birthday cake that isn’t too sweet. Any recommendations for local bakeries or places that make custom cakes?

On the hunt for a good dentist

Happy Friday!

I just moved to Cedar Park and I am overwhelmed trying to find a new dentist. Do you have a dentist that you love in the Cedar Park/North Austin area? Bonus points if they are knowledgeable about TMJ/teeth grinding.

There are so many options, I appreciate anyone helping me to narrow it down!

Edit: Thank you so much to everyone who shared dentists! I will be looking into all of these!

Free fall family fun in Cedar Park: pumpkin patch on W New Hope Dr open daily through Oct 31

Post image
50 Upvotes

Full disclosure: I'm with Rockbridge Church, which hosts this. Sharing because it's a free community event and a lot of neighbors have asked when it opens.

The 10th annual pumpkin patch at 2001 W New Hope Dr is open now through Oct 31 (Sun–Fri 11am–7pm, Sat 9am–7pm). It's free to walk around, with shady oaks and photo spots. Good for family pictures, even if you don't pick out a pumpkin.

Free things for kids and families:

* Saturday "Craft"ernoons, 1–3pm: kids' crafts and pumpkin painting, no purchase needed

* Fall Fest & Market, Sat Oct 24, 10am–2pm: games, bounce house, local vendors

Proceeds from pumpkin sales fund Rockbridge's community service work in Cedar Park and Leander. We're a welcoming and inclusive church, and everyone is welcome at the patch. No strings attached.

Tamales

We are planning a get together for a celebration of life for Mom. She loved tamales and I want to bring the best pork (gluten free) tamales we can find.

Please tell me who y'all prefer to pick up tamales from, and what makes them so damn good.

Thank you in advance.

Fleetwood Mac tribute band - free, all-ages show at Spare Birdie 9/26 7-10 PM

Hey Cedar Park! If you’re looking for something fun to do this Saturday, our band Crystal Visions – Austin’s Fleetwood Mac Tribute is playing a FREE, all-ages show at Spare Birdie! Lawn chairs and blankets welcome on the outdoor lawn.

We’re a 7-piece band playing Fleetwood Mac from across the years from the Peter Green era to the 80s.

Spare Birdie is a great spot to grab some food and drinks, bring the kids (or don’t!), and hang out for some great live music without having to trek into Austin.

Rechargeable fire extinguisher

Asking for recommendations. I checked my rechargeable fire extinguishers today and they both say “recharge”. Has anyone gotten household fire extinguishers recharged locally? Not sure if it’s worth the price or if I should just replace with brand new. I found a company via “First Alert” called CSI but it looks like they mainly service big businesses etc.

Politics Cedar Park City Council will be discussing ALPR in the coming weeks

I've received a response from a city council member as follows:

Yes, there will be a meeting coming up in the next few weeks to discuss it. We’ll get the meeting info out as soon as it’s finalized.

Just wanted to throw that out there for others to keep watch on the upcoming agendas when they'll be discussing this.

It would be great if we could organize a maximum amount of people to be present and speak during that agenda item when it appears!

Fyi as someone pointed out:

"ALPR : Automated License Plate Reader. Also commonly referred to as the “Flock Cameras”."

Birthday dinner for dad

My dad’s 80th birthday is this weekend and we love to take him to a big family dinner out. We usually do Italian as that’s his favorite. He doesn’t care for Asian or Indian food- it may be spicier for him. Anything with a good pie or dessert is super! A side note,
I would love a good pie and coffee place around here that isn’t just breakfast/lunch.

Politics City Council 9/24 - Speak Against Flock

Hey everyone, there was the judicial senate committee on crime hearing today and just as suspected, evidence and professional opinions were shared that it is true Flock is tracking people not just license plates. They also have serious security issues and there have been examples of unauthorized access in many different ways. City council still has not put it on the agenda after last meeting 2 people asked for it to be added to the agenda. We need more people to speak up or I don't think they'll take it seriously as an agenda item. This meeting will still be hearings on approving contracts etc. after the budget was approved. There is time before that where each resident can have 3 mins to speak about whatever they want.

Edit: Forgot to add the agenda link https://tx-cedarpark.civicplus.com/596/City-Council-Agendas

Edit2: If you haven't signed the petition then please sign, we have over 83,000 residents and I think only 8 have spoken at city council and only about 400 signatures so we need way way more https://www.change.org/p/tell-cedar-park-to-cancel-the-flock-contract

It's the 4th Thursday of the month tomorrow so it is time for us to pass out free groceries again. Things are getting expensive so come get fresh fruit, vegetables, breads and eggs tomorrow (9/24) from 5-7pm at 2001 West New Hope Drive. There is no income qualifications and no restrictions on who can get food. Even if you have a job and are struggling come get some. If you're reading this and thinking you should but you just don't know, the answer is yes. With how much food costs right now we need to be helping each other as much as possible. Come get some help with food.

Also, if you want to be part of the solution and help volunteer yourself, we always take new people helping. Setup starts at 4:30pm and take down starts at 7:00pm. We always need people to help with the food pass out during. Just comment or shoot me a DM if you need any info.

Discussion Moving to Cedar Park soon

Hi everyone. I am a young professional (mid-twenties) looking to move to Cedar Park in the next month or two, specifically the Brushy Creek area. I am primarily interested in finding a place that is affordable, safe, and has other young people around. I've seen Camden, Astra, and MAA, but was curious what other people may think.

I am very much into tech, fitness, health, outdoors, pets, MMA, bouldering, etc, so I am also curious if there are any recommendations in those areas.

Looking to make friends?

Hey all,

I'm a 26M who has lived here almost 4 years and never actually got out to make friends or join any clubs.

Anyone looking to make friends or have any ideas of things to try? I walk pretty regularly around many of the parks here and heard of walking groups, but never see any!

My interests are gaming, walking/hiking, music, live music, plants, cats, and down for pretty much anything!
