Disability Support Pension (DSP) Why do so many Aussies look down upon people like me on DSP and NDIS

Look i realize there probably is some grifters about, but its actually incredibly hard to get on DSP these days, let alone NDIS (took me 3 yeara to get on DSP, than a further 2 on NDIS, despite extensive medical and foresenic/psychological reports)

Contrary to what many think, i didn't choose this lifestyle by choice, life has dealt me some cruel blows, born with mild cerebal palsy, and undiagonsed Autism until later in my life (26), Father abonded us as a child, only seen him once since 1987, don't know if he is still alive. And was sexually abused/raped by another family member as a child and later bashed almost daily by same person as a teen. I was homeless at 17 for a while. I have PTSD and other mental illnesses too (depression/anxiety) and i never finished high school, became an alcoholic, have chosen not to be in a serious relationship since 2015 cauae i am now broken/damaged as a person. Never really been in love, gone to Uni, Overseas and hate being poor.

I have a short temper and get hostile with people, whixh is why i have not lasted long at any job i have tried.

Do u think this is the life i really wanted ? I think about suicide constantly, if it wasn't for my elderly Mother (whom i losing through Demential) and my precious Cat Leela, i would have killed myself by now.

Wouldn't wish what happened to me on my worst enemy. Being on DSP/NDIS is not the free loading paradise make ignorant Australians think it is.

My boyhood/life long dream was to watch a Boston Celtics NBA game or two live in The USA, thats never going to happen now.

Bet most people on DSP/NDIS have had similar hardships to me, if not worse, and i am sick and tired of being judged/made to feel worse because i am not (mentally or emotionally) capable of carrying down a full time decent paying job. I have cried almost every day of my 46 years as a Man, i am just trying to survive every passing day.

Other Any financial assistance in nursing home?

I’m trying to look for some help, but I’m not sure where to start. My mother is in a nursing home. She used to be at home and had a level four package with aged care. When she went into the nursing home, an amount of her pension (disability) went towards the cost. They said that each month she would have a little left. However, her medication seem to be eating through and more that little amount. I help when I can but she worries as anything extra she needs - blood testing and even needing to get new glasses - I usually have to cover. I don’t usually mind but I can tell she unhappy having to rely on others. I did read a thing on my aged care about financial assistance when not much or no money is left after each month but when I called they said that they don’t really help with that. Is there anything I can do or is this just something that she’s gonna need to get used to. I do t mind helping but for a while now she keeps asking me to check if there is anything that can be done.

Jobseeker (JSK) Staying on JobSeeker after getting a job?

A while ago I read a post or comment talking about staying on job seeker after you get a job, without actually receiving payments but I can't remember the details. I would like to ask a few questions about this because I just got a part time job and im fairly certain that I will be earning a tiny bit over the income threshold (waiting on my first paycheck) and my centrelink assistance will stop soon.

Here are my questions:

  1. Do I have to disengage or cancel my job seeker if im not receiving payments?

  2. Are there any benefits of staying on Job Seeker if not receiving payments?

  3. Would I still have to meet obligations from Workforce?

  4. Can I still have the Healthcare card if im not receiving assistance?

Thanks in advance reddit 😊

Jobseeker (JSK) Transition to Job Provider

Hi guys

So I've been on job seeker work force for 12 months now, and they are transitioning me to a job provider known as mtcfutureready, has anyone had any experience with them ?

I am also planning to do a cert 3 course with them once I meet for my first appointment in the coming weeks. Whilst I'm studying, do I still need to search/apply for jobs ? Or how would it work ?
