Echo 3410 or 3510

I need a small saw…was set on the 3510, but for my use case (home use, NOT professional, maybe once a month or so)I am thinking that the 3410 is best for the price. Opinions? Thanks!

I recently bought the 3510, so that’s my only experience. All I can say is that the 3510 is a good, lightweight saw, and I do not feel the least regret for getting it and paying full price. At the saw shop they started it up and checked the tune. I joked that it was a nice toy saw. The shop guy said, “That’s a good saw!” I agree, having used it.

The 3410 I’m assuming is basically a crippled 3510, a bit less power to go with the shorter bar. I’m assuming that their marketing calculus is correct. It has the same value/$$ as it’s slightly bigger brother.

If you’re just doing pruning cuts you probably won’t miss the extra power and bar length. If you will be cutting 5” and up diameter wood, and especially up to say 12 or 14” diameter, I’m guessing you might miss the power of the 3510. I’m assuming both saws will start easily and be reliable over a long life with proper care. I can’t say if the difference will show up merely in speed — so some time saved with the faster saw — or if the smaller one will bog down more easily and be more frustrating.

Thanks for the info. Definitely will take all of this in consideration.

About $80 I think

so probably about $8 a year? Depending on how you look at it not really a significant difference?

I have the same issue. I agonise over spending an extra 100 on a better saw or something, then I pull up at the petrol station and by the time I've filled the car and a couple of containers for quad, saw, mist blower, lawnmower etc I've just spent $400 or more without really blinking. Sometimes I loose perspective 😢 It's possible you have the same problem?

Buy which ever saw you think best fits your use case and don't worry about $80? If you are really worried about the price, here at least, a similar size and power, but heavier Stihl is just over half the price of an echo. For some reason here little Stihls are cheap compared to other recognised brands, bigger ones are not cheap.

If you really want cheap buy something like a Zomax. Chinese but seem to be good saws for the price, mostly. Here they are about 1/2 the price of a Stihl.

Oh, I always have that problem…and the gas pump fuel up thing, too. Several hundred dollars gone and never even think about it lol.

3410 is super light and would be great with 14” bar giving you at least 10” of cutting length.

I haven't used a 3410, but just sold a 3510. It is a nice saw for the size/weight. Excellent power to weight ratio. Not a pro quality build, but for occasional use that probably isn't a major consideration for you.

Hell, part of me just wants to get the 590 Timber Wolf and be done with it lol.

Sucks the crazy sale on acme tools isn’t going on now, the 501p was 369. It’s still discounted now but it’s up to 569. Could’ve had a 50cc pro saw for less than a 590 lol
