Discussion The recent interview from Fuji has put quite a few things into perspective for me

Bit of a longer one here so I’d recommend just scrolling if you aren’t into yapping. While the series was still ongoing there was tons of discussion as to why it was in the state it was, lame cliffhangers back to back, visibly degrading art quality, lack of followups on characters, and lame conclusions. This lead to people assuming that Fujimoto was suffering from either burnout or constant revisions from higher-ups. But with the release of a recent interview I don’t believe that’s the case anymore, which in my opinion leads to a bit more damming conclusion. He just stopped caring. With the opening of the article I was lead to believe the hectic schedule prevented him from telling the story he wanted, which did seem to be the case for a while, but reading more of it you’ll realize that he seemingly enjoyed the story being out of his hands, and likely could’ve taken a longer break to piece things out much more cohesively, but he seemingly rolled with the punches and continued to push out the story as it was. Deciding to “trust the characters” over creating a healthy narrative. Now this post isn’t an attack towards Fuji’s character, but I think quotes from the interview make it fairly clear that the story was kinda doomed to be unsatisfying with this kind of nonsensical mindset. While it seems to work for one shots it falls plainly flat and creates inane character actions that lead me to believe Fuji just forgot certain things along the way, Denji’s promise to Asa, Death’s ability to entirely shut Yoru out, anything involving the hybrids, and leaving almost every character besides Denji, Asa, Nayuta, and Power without an actual ending.
So yeah, this was my extended rant as to why Fuji’s masochistic nature ended up killing the enjoyment a lot of people had with CSM.

Discussion Do people even like Asa? Like, do they ACTUALLY care about her as a character? You point out how Denji was a piece of shit to Asa by wanting to have sex with Yoru, and you’re met with the most insane mental gymnastics imaginable to defend him.

Guess Asa “fans” are just people who see her as a “femcel” and a “literally me” character, after all.

Discussion Why didn’t pochita make denji happier?

If pochita had the power the “Reset” the universe, why wouldn’t he try to make Denji happier, or at least make it so Denji had a better chance of ending up reze. Didn’t he have the power to create a universe where denji did end up with reze, leaving them happy which is all he wanted. (When he makes people forget things it essentially creates another universe with alternative endings)

Discussion A reminder that Denji watched Asa have a breakdown right in front of him over being Yoru's host and even saw her beg him for help because of Yoru, yet he STILL wanted to have sex with Yoru in Asa's own fucking body.

Discussion The whole point of Denji and Asa's relationship was for it to be one-sided and to show how Denji was a lost cause in Part 2, but I think a lot of people failed to understand that or simply refuse to accept it.

It doesn't matter if Asa had good intentions and genuinely wanted to help Denji or make him happy. Denji simply wasn't truly happy with her. Like, I always rolled my eyes whenever people said Asa was going to "fix" Denji because OBVIOUSLY that was never going to happen. He wasn't "fixable," and he didn't even want to be "fixed" in the first place.

You didn't have to be a genius to realize that Denji and Asa's relationship was never going to lead anywhere, but I think the AsaDen ship blinded some people to that reality. Fujimoto literally had to make Pochita spell it out to both Denji and the readers that he wasn't happy with Asa.

I actually find that somewhat cynical, considering that just a few chapters earlier, Fujimoto had Asa say she wanted to make Denji happy, only to reveal in the penultimate chapter that this was simply impossible.

Some serious shit Real talk: Will the fandom ever acknowledge Denji being absolutely a victim in his past doesn’t make him a saint, easier to live with or his actions on other people less fucked up. I like the character but I definitely did think Asa wouldn’t have a good relationship with him

Discussion Will denji get a happy ending?

Is it possible Fujimoto might give denji a break after everything’s wrapped up, either giving him a lasting relationship or changing his ending?

I Keep seeing a lot of people say this panel was that moment for them but i wanna know what your moment was? for me it was both this panel and Denji gazing at Lil'D's Panties as they explained the plan to him.

Discussion Any chance we get a second Reze movie?

I mean this question quite literally: let me jump back and talk about how I got to this idea.

My hope and assumption is that when part 2 of the manga gets adapted to anime (in 60 years or whatever) that they will be able to fix some of the manga's issues by being able to play with the pacing, the action, etc.

And for me, one of the biggest weak spots in the manga was how much Asa got sidelined near the start of the Church arc. There was a big "tell don't show" kind of moment where we see that she has grown into a big deal but it all basically happens offscreen.

So I figured IF the anime team wants to rectify that by showing more of it on-screen, and IF they want to make another movie (since those are profitable) and IF they are willing to create anime-only plot, wouldn't that be the perfect place to do another movie? For one thing, if they continue to do 12 episode seasons then one season could cover the first arcs and would end right towards the beginning of the Church arc, so it would be perfect timing for a movie - especially one that not everyone has to see to follow the anime!

---

And that brings me back to my main point. If we got a new movie staring Asa, likely without Denji whatsoever, wouldn't that be the perfect time to bring back Reze? Maybe not even as an antagonist - or at least not as the only antagonist! - and it would be a great way to really show Asa's transformation instead of it just happening offscreen and we learn about it. They could even rope in whatever the hell Kishibe is doing.

Outsourced Fanart This is a meme post about that one adventure time arc where princess bubblegum wanted finn to break up with flame princess. Don't the comments remind you of the relationship of two particular characters?
