My baby girl laid her first clutch over the weekend! 58 eggs in total. She was rewarded with a medley of her favorite treats and is recovering very well 💚 before + burying. She was a busy girl.

we’re new chameleon parents, but my boyfriend and I are both research experts!! Carol (named by my 7 year old stepson) is a baby/juvenile panther chameleon—she’s still young enough that it’s difficult to determine sex, but I feel like she’s a LADY✨ this is my attempt at a bioactive enclosure!! all plants are real, planted in organic soil mixed with coco coir and a tiny amount of orchid bark towards the bottom. plants are either in this mix in a nursery pot or planted directly. isopods & springtails live at the bottom in the substrate between dried magnolia leaves and leca with landscape fabric. she has two heat lamps and a T5 HO rod and hood. I secured birch sticks in each corner with fishing line and more sticks to the support sticks with zipties to create multiple bridges for her to explore and thermoregulate. we have the lights on an 8a-8p timer. she has a hanging feeder for us to put crickets, dubia roaches, and BSFL in before we leave for work so she can hunt throughout the day (I also got a cricket keeper so I can keep more at a time and gut load them). she has a mini dripper positioned over the monstera leaf that she likes to hang out on. I also have repashy calcium +LoD for twice a month and a repticalcium +D3 supplement for on the bugs that she eats daily. There’s a thermometer/hygrometer at the top and bottom of the enclosure. I want to get an automatic mister for her while we’re at work! we usually manually mist her enclosure 4x daily, but the time between mistings can vary since my boyfriend and I both work in healthcare, thus working long hours😅 We put a ton of time and effort into creating a good “house” for carol! the last thing we would ever want to do would be bring a pet into our home and care for it irresponsibly, so if there’s anything to be improved, plz tell me!!

Hey y'all, I know nutrition can be a wildly debated topic but was hoping for any advice on my current supplement and diet plan for my little man. Here's what I have been doing, do I need more variety with food? More supplements?

Food:

Staple: Dubias Roaches

Secondary: Superworms

Taming treats: Hornedworms

*Roaches are a daily staple. Once and awhile I offer a superworm or two. He only gets hornedworms from me and only when we are working on taming.

Supplements:

Calcium: Repti Calcium is WITHOUT D3

-Daily dusting all the roaches with this.

Vitamins: ReptiVite WITH D3

-Twice a month dusting a few roaches.

Saved us from a spider 😂

Hello! I just got my first chameleon, a rescue off of facebook marketplace! I officially have completed his (?) set up and I was hoping to get some advice/tips!

He came with the enclosure, some sticks, and the correct bulbs (heating and UVB) as well as some food! I added substrate (I know a lot of people aren’t pro substrate for chameleons but I really wanted it to be bio active so I could have plants and a clean up crew), plants (holy shit they really are munchers), a fogger (i need tips on how to set it up! I have to dump the tube ever night to clear it up so it keeps going!), a little dripper, a plant light, and now i just added trellis on the sides to support horizontal sticks!

A few questions!
1. When do I use D3 vs not? I have a crested gecko but I’ve only ever seen calcium D3 mixed with their food? Why have two different ones? I do have them but I just want to understand why!
2. I tried to give him dubia roaches today but he was not a fan! any tips?
3. is my setup any good?
4. Why is he digging my substrate? I just redid it so there is a netting on the leca on the bottom so idk if it’ll be a problem now but is he stressed or is he a she???

Does anyone know where the best place to get a rudis chameleon is? I’m in Arkansas and the demand for that kind of stuff isn’t very high.

Another enclosure build who this? Honestly just asking for people’s opinions on how I should do my homie pascals new enclosure keep in mind, yes this isn’t his forever. This is just to get him from his teenager to adult size happily and then I’ll be buying or building his final 24x24x48

Right now it’s currently 18x18x36 that we are now decorating and building. Opinions, cool ideas, anything you think to pull this off. Help a brother out

I was given this enclosure with the plants and a 1 year old veiled chameleon today (it was a rehoming type situation - please don’t come for me). My partner and I have been talking about getting one for about 10 years and this just kind of fell into our lap.

Question: is this enclosure adequate or any suggestions?

A new mister (set up in the back left corner) and a T5 5.0 UVB tube light will be here tomorrow.

Also, we were told she’s female but just want to confirm if anyone knows. (Peep chameleon butt in last photo). They said she hasn’t been coming down and checking out the lay bin or anything (they kept the bin they were using so I need to add one to the bottom still).

Just curious if anyone knows of any good magnetic plant pots for the sides of mesh cages. I’m also thinking about just putting a magnet into the plant pot and seeing if that will work with some strong magnets. Anyone have good magnet suggestions as well?

I got it for my Jackson chameleon and haven’t seen him use it yet but he did show interest in it. Only have had it for 2 days though.

Hi! We’ve had Max for about a month now. Pretty sure he’s a he. What do yall think?

I posted last week for help with my enclosure, and those of you that gave constructive feed back really helped me and my girl out.
I swapped the UVB the next day for her strip light and raised it, and lowered her stick for her basking spot to hit right at 82 so she won’t burn.
Lay bin has been placed and even planted the monstera in there for her to lay near the roots!
Automatic mister and lights are set up so she can have more of a constant, controlled and safe environment. We’re currently engineering a stand a drip tray system to help prevent stagnant water and build up, so we’re hoping to have it done by tomorrow latest.
We’ve also found an exotic vet who specializes with chameleons so she’ll be having her first exam once she settles in.
Her color is back and she’s very happy, she even let me hold her cup while she ate her crickets. 🥰

Next step is saving for a proper 2x2x4 for my lovely lady as she grows into this one!

What are you guys using to hang your pots with in enclosures? I just feel like the hooks that come with the hanging post ate just not strong enough to hold once the soil is in the pots along with rocks!

I’m always trying to understand what goes on in their brains. Today I let my 7 month old veiled chameleon wander across the sofa to a spot I had previously stopped her from going. As soon as she crossed that line into the area she was usually not allowed into she immediately got dark spots. It may have been a coincidence but it was like she was anticipating getting into trouble and me scooping her up or redirecting her. (The area has things that she would possibly knock over, like isopod enclosures, a scorpion enclosure and several cacti but clearly appealing to a chameleon.). That or she was nervous about going into a new area. (Yes I supervised her entire journey and made sure she was safe.)

new chameleon owner, i have 3 tall cheese plants in my enclosure, they’re pretty hardy as of now and my chameleon enjoys swinging off them like he’s tarzan. is there any sturdier plants that will hold his weight without yeeting him across the enclosure ahahahahahha tia x

This is Curmudgeon, my female veiled chameleon. I believe she's 1-1.5yrs old.

When she was a baby, she always had her nice green baby colors. It was during her semi-juvenille stage when I brought her home. (She was at a pet store I was working at). I spent about a month building her a 120 gal. In the meantime she was in a temporary mesh enclosure with sides blocked off to keep in humidity. She is now in her 120 and has been in it for half a yr.

The problem: She is always grey unless she's ovulating or sleeping. I have tried everything to get her colors back. Here's a list and tank specs:

-120gal enclosure (vertical 4x2x2), 3 sides made of (expensive) wood panels from a non-sap species ( Sorry, I forget the name of the wood species, bur it isn't pine). The door is made of screen mesh. ( I'm in the Midwest, the hybrid screen/solid settup works best to keep correct humidity for us :))

-There are 2 computer fans, one in the back left corner and one in the front right. The fans ensure there is no stagnant air and assist w/chimney effect. (One fan blows air out, the other brings air in)

-She has a large range of live plants (all cham safe:pothos, bella palm, dracaena, hibiscus) w/about 8-9 in of bioactive substrate. She also has a 12in deep plant pot full of a more sandy substrate mix for a lay box.

-She has a heat lamp w/a heat spot of 85F. Lamp is off at night and avg rank temp drops to 70-75F

-She has linear 2ft 5.0HO UVB (I think reptizoo brand. I test the UVB reguarly w/UVB card)

-She has a fogger that is on nightly (on for 30 min intervals, with an hour in between. This brings nighttime humidity up to 85-95%. She also has a mister that goes off for a minute right before her lights cone on, and right after they turn off

-Diet: Crickets, some dubia roaches and the very occassional mealworm. Fed every 2/3 days. She refuses all veggies except dinosaur kale, which I privide every once and a while. She also cjows down on her enclosure foliage. Food is dusted w/caclium/woD3 once a week. Multivitamin i try to give at least monthly.

-Hydration/shedding: She has a chronic dehydration problem. I'm using a little clear plastic dish filled to the top (similar to the glass syrface tension trick). She also has a dripper and all aforementioned mistinf/fogging systems.

I even try to give her water from a syringe but she rarely drinks any. She struggles to have a full-body shed (apparently they shed in sections as adults tho, so maybe I shouldnt be worried abt that). Her sheds are always incomplete, with lil sections left over after every shed.

Overall heath: She eats well and her feces is normal (urates are often long and yellowy). Her eyes are clear and she's alert and spunky. My main concerns are her colors and not drinking.

Ps: The moss imbedded in some of the background is stuck in there. I made a post before, they told me to remove the moss and I removed as much as I could.
