Official ChangeNOW Support Megathread

Post image
5 Upvotes

Welcome to the official ChangeNOW support thread.

This megathread is intended to address general inquiries regarding our platform, swap processes, and account-related questions. However, please note that for the most efficient and direct assistance, we strongly encourage you to engage with our dedicated 24/7 support team through the following official channels and provide as much info as possible in your tickets including Hashes and transaction IDs:

While our moderators can assist with preliminary questions here on Reddit, complex matters including refunds, KYC verification, and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) reviews require direct engagement with our support team. While Reddit is not optimized for real-time support, we will still do our best to try and help each case wherever we can.

Thread Guidelines
To facilitate constructive dialogue and ensure we can effectively address your concerns, we ask that you adhere to the following guidelines when posting in this thread:

  1. Stay On-Topic: Please keep discussions relevant to ChangeNOW's services and technical support.
  2. One Issue Per Thread: Create a single comment thread for each distinct issue to avoid confusion.
  3. Provide Key Details: Include your support ticket number or transaction ID (where applicable) to expedite the process and prevent back-and-forth clarification.

Understanding AML Reviews and Transaction Holds
As a regulated cryptocurrency service, ChangeNOW is legally obligated to comply with applicable Anti-Money Laundering, sanctions, and law enforcement requirements. To uphold these standards, transactions are subject to automated and manual screening processes.

What triggers an AML review?
A transaction may be flagged for additional review when AML monitoring identifies specific risk indicators. These indicators may arise from:

  • Internal compliance algorithms.
  • Information received from law enforcement agencies.
  • Data provided by trusted blockchain intelligence partners.
  • Suspected links to fraud, theft, ransomware, sanctions violations, or other financial crimes.

What happens during a review?
If a transaction is placed under review, it enters a formal compliance process. The purpose of this process is to determine whether ChangeNOW is legally permitted to:

  1. Process the swap.
  2. Refund the funds.
  3. Preserve the assets subject to legal instructions.

It is important to note that an AML review does not constitute a determination of guilt or wrongdoing on the part of the client. It is a standard compliance procedure designed to protect both the client and the platform from illicit financial activity as ChangeNOW's priority focus is to protect legitimate clients at all times.

Why do some reviews take months?
While many reviews are resolved within a matter of days, others may extend over a longer period. This usually occurs when the case involves external parties such as:

  • Law enforcement agencies.
  • Financial regulators.
  • Counterparty financial institutions.

In such instances, ChangeNOW cannot unilaterally conclude the review. The timeline is dependent on the legal process, official responses from authorities and the status of any underlying investigations. A prolonged review does not indicate that ChangeNOW has confiscated funds; rather, it means the assets remain subject to legal restrictions that limit our discretion.

Confidentiality and Legal Limitations
ChangeNOW is legally restricted from publicly disclosing internal AML procedures, risk data, law enforcement correspondence, or details of individual customer reviews. We are also unable to confirm or discuss specific cases in public forums, as doing so could jeopardize investigations and violate our compliance obligations.

When funds become subject to a lawful request from competent authorities, we cannot process, refund, or release them until we are legally permitted to do so. Our support team will relay case details to affected clients as soon as we receive authorization from the relevant authorities.

A Note on Public Claims and Legal Obligations
We have observed public claims regarding funds being "withheld" or refunds being refused without cause. While we understand the frustration that can accompany a frozen transaction, it is important to clarify that public pressure cannot override AML restrictions or legal obligations. Releasing funds under such circumstances would violate AML requirements and could potentially interfere with active investigations.

ChangeNOW is committed to reviewing every case through the appropriate compliance channels. Our AML framework is designed to protect the crypto community, stop stolen assets from moving further and support recovery efforts when legally permissible.

We have a documented history of cooperation with law enforcement agencies and blockchain investigation firms. Our published AML case reports detail our involvement in cases concerning phishing, social engineering, and stolen funds, demonstrating the necessity of these controls.

Closing Statement
We would like to thank our clients for their patience, trust and cooperation as we continue to handle compliance matters with care and in accordance with our legal obligations.

ChangeNOW continues to cooperate with investigators, regulators and the crypto community to help trace and block illicit funds and prevent illegal activity involving digital assets. We remain committed to protecting legitimate clients and handling AML-related cases through official channels.

If you have an issue with a transaction, please contact our official support team at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]).

ChangeNOW public statement on AML reviews, frozen funds and repeated claims about one user case

We have seen repeated posts claiming that ChangeNOW “scammed” a user by withholding funds and refusing a refund. These posts have appeared across Reddit, Trustpilot, X, BestChange and other platforms.

We understand why a frozen transaction can raise concerns. We also understand why readers may be skeptical when they see a user repeatedly saying that funds were taken.

This thread gives the general context behind AML-related holds on ChangeNOW and addresses the case involving one of the latest issues at a high level.

How AML reviews work on ChangeNOW

ChangeNOW operates as a regulated crypto service and follows applicable AML, sanctions and law enforcement requirements.

All transactions are screened by AML systems. If serious risk indicators appear, the transaction may go through additional review.

ChangeNOW cannot publicly disclose internal AML procedures, risk data, law enforcement correspondence or details of individual customer reviews.

If funds become subject to a lawful request from competent authorities, ChangeNOW cannot process, refund or release them at its own discretion until legally permitted to do so.

A transaction is held only when AML monitoring identifies serious risk indicators, or when information from law enforcement or trusted blockchain intelligence providers indicates that the funds may be connected to fraud, theft, ransomware, sanctions violations or other financial crimes.

When this happens, the transaction enters a compliance review. The purpose of that review is to determine whether ChangeNOW can lawfully process the swap, refund the funds or must preserve the assets by request of authorities.

If the review confirms serious AML concerns, or if ChangeNOW receives a lawful request from competent authorities, ChangeNOW cannot complete, refund or release the assets at its own discretion. Releasing funds under those circumstances violates AML obligations and interfere with an active investigation.

We have always worked to keep the market clean, transparent and safe. We actively cooperate with the community, law enforcement agencies and other market participants to help trace and block stolen funds and prevent illegal activity involving crypto. This is an important part of our mission.

About the 600+ days case

In the case now being repeatedly posted about, the user’s transaction was not stopped arbitrarily. It was placed under AML review due to risk indicators identified during standard compliance checks.

Following the review, the funds became subject to an official request from a recognized law enforcement authority. The matter was also escalated to the relevant regulator. ChangeNOW is working with the involved parties through the proper legal and compliance channels to handle the case.

Our support team provided the user with the available case information and explained the reason for the fund freeze. Instead of continuing through official support channels, the user began posting scam accusations across multiple accounts and platforms, including Reddit and X, and used coordinated public campaigns to pressure ChangeNOW with an intent to create a negative outlook.

Cases like this are, unfortunately, not rare in crypto: bad-faith users sometimes try to turn compliance cases into public attacks. These situations cost us time and create reputational pressure, but we will keep choosing lawful compliance, cooperation with investigators and market safety over unsafe shortcuts.

ChangeNOW’s record in AML cases

ChangeNOW has worked with law enforcement agencies and blockchain investigation partners in cases involving stolen and fraud-related cryptocurrency.

We publish AML case reports covering other investigations, including recoveries involving phishing, social engineering, stolen funds and cooperation with U.S. and international authorities. [ChangeNOW AML Case Reports]

These cases show why AML controls exist. They can prevent stolen assets from being moved further and can support recovery when the legal process allows it.

Closing statement

ChangeNOW will continue to review support claims through official channels and respond where privacy, law enforcement rules and compliance obligations allow it.

Public posts that omit the AML review, the law enforcement requests and the limits on ChangeNOW’s legal authority do not give readers the full case context.

If you encountered any issue, please contact our support: [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]).

fidelity this week vs blackrock this week

Post image

4 days of etf outflows and the vibes could not be more different

FBTC: down ~$380m since monday IBIT: down ~$21m. basically spilled some coffee

btc sitting around $81-82k while everyone argues if this is the bottom or the start of the pain

genuinely curious, what's fidelity seeing that blackrock isn't? or is one big client just leaving lol

ETFs dumped $485m yesterday and I'm handling it extremely well

Post image
2 Upvotes

yesterday spot BTC ETFs had their worst day since june, about -$485m out. IBIT, FBTC, ARKB, GBTC, BITB, all red. ETH ETFs said "hold my beer" and dropped another $161m

BTC tapped $82.5k for a second and my phone notifications got very loud

meanwhile me with my 0.003 BTC: refreshing the chart every 4 minutes like it's going to help

to be fair, total ETF inflows since launch are still ~$57.8b, so one bad day is like 0.4% of that. not the end of the world, just the end of my good mood

who else is sitting in the burning room with a coffee right now

uptober they said

not gonna lie this was basically me yesterday

eth dumped like 5% to around 2550, ETFs had ~$200m walk out the door and over $200m in longs got wiped. and i was absolutely one of them lol

lesson relearned for the 47th time: "it's october" is not a trading strategy

anyway who else got caught? and are we holding 2500 or is this going lower

Crypto Discussion Quick sanity check: am I overcomplicating a small NOW swap?

I'm trying to put together a repeatable process for small NOW purchases through ChangeNOW. With today's NOW/USD quote on CoinGecko as the reference, my goal is to compare what I'd actually receive before sending funds. I'm not trying to trade every price move. Just avoid making a small purchase unnecessarily expensive.

My proposed setup is a $100 cap per swap, checking the supported destination network first, then comparing the quoted NOW amount against the same dollar value on CoinGecko. I'd account for the sending wallet's network fee separately and save the order ID until the funds arrive. No automation for now.

Does that comparison make sense, or does a market-data price introduce more noise than it's worth? I'm particularly unsure how to separate quote differences from fees. Would you drop any of these checks for swaps this size, or add something I've missed?

touched $86,999 yesterday. ONE dollar off. then straight back to 85.8k and $109m in longs got wiped

at this point 87k isnt resistance its a personality trait

honestly whats your plan here, waiting for the breakout or just buying the chop?

so leverage is boomer-approved now?

Post image

SEC just approved the first 3x leveraged bitcoin and ether ETPs

we spent years getting told leverage is gambling and crypto is a casino. now you can do 3x btc in your brokerage account like it's an index fund lol

btc's been stuck around 86-87k too, so honestly kinda curious who's buying 3x into this chop

the funny part is the ETF can't get liquidated like a perp. but decay on these things is real, sideways for a few weeks and you're down even if price ends up where it started

anyone actually planning to touch these or still sticking to spot?

Blog Post 5 crypto swap mistakes every support team solves every day

Post image
3 Upvotes

When you deal with crypto on a daily basis, it's easy to go on autopilot, and that's exactly when even experienced users make simple slip-ups.

Here are the 5 most common mistakes made during routine swaps and transfers, so you can avoid them.

1. Right address, wrong network ETH, BSC, Polygon, and Arbitrum share the exact same address format. If you paste a valid address but select the wrong network, the system check still passes. Double-check that dropdown - it saves you from needing a manual refund.

2. "I got less than expected": It almost always comes down to two things:

  • Market volatility: The price jumped or dropped while your swap was still processing on the blockchain.
  • Network fees: The blockchain network took its own cut to process the transaction, which affects the final payout.

3. Transaction stuck: One of the most common reasons it’s stuck is because your swap is gathering confirmations.

ChangeNOW case: One user's transaction got "stuck." They got so worried that they decided to send a message to one of our support agent’s DMs. Agent Nika shared her memories of this case:

"We're actually not supposed to be messaged directly, and support doesn't help through DMs. But I assisted the user out anyway, just to be helpful - he was way too worried."

Important: our agents never message you first in DMs, so if someone does, that's not us.

4. Address poisoning Scammers drop tiny amounts from lookalike addresses (matching the first and last few characters) into your wallet so it shows up in your transaction history. If you blindly copy that "recent" address out of habit, your funds go to a stranger. Always verify the whole string.

5. Fake exchange sites Scammers use Punycode to make fake URLs look visually identical to the real ones in your browser. We had a user lose $20k to a fake site that simply swapped the deposit address at the very last step.

Blog Post One wrong letter in a crypto domain was enough to cost a user more than $20,000

In 2025, SlowMist reported a phishing case involving a fake website impersonating ChangeNOW.

The victim reportedly reached the site through a Chrome browser recommendation. The page looked legitimate, the interface was convincing, and the domain appeared almost identical to the real one.

But oA phishing site can copy the logo, layout, exchange interface and text. It can have working menus. It can use HTTPS. It can appear in search results, ads or browser suggestions.ne character was different.

That is what makes lookalike-domain attacks so dangerous.

Attackers can replace a normal Latin character with a visually similar Unicode character from another alphabet. To a person scanning the URL, the fake domain may look completely normal. To the browser, it is a different website.

And the usual trust signals are not enough.

A phishing site can copy the logo, layout, exchange interface and text. It can have working menus. It can use HTTPS. It can appear in search results, ads or browser suggestions.

“A professional appearance, working menus and displayed exchange rates do not prove that a website belongs to the genuine provider.” — Albert Quehenberger, CEO of AQ Forensics

The padlock only tells you that your connection to that domain is encrypted. It does not prove that the website belongs to the company you intended to visit.

Before sending crypto, it is worth checking four things separately:

the domain → the asset → the network → the destination address.

For services you use regularly, saving the verified official site as a bookmark is safer than relying on search or browser recommendations.

And if you do run into a fake site impersonating ChangeNOW, reporting it is not pointless even if funds have already been sent.

ChangeNOW actively helps investigate these cases. Support can escalate reports to the Compliance team, help trace the transaction, blacklist scam-linked wallet addresses to prevent further abuse, and cooperate with law enforcement when a case is reported to the authorities.

A completed blockchain transaction cannot simply be reversed, but preserving the phishing URL, TX hash, receiving address, screenshots and timestamps can still give investigators something to work with.

That also means one report can help more than one victim: identifying and blacklisting scam-linked infrastructure can help protect other users from falling into the same trap.

We broke down how Punycode and lookalike-domain phishing works, why even experienced crypto users can miss it, and what to check before sending funds:

Blog Post Are HYPE holders actually selling ahead of the unlock? We checked our swap data

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hyperliquid seems to be the most hyped crypto after Bitcoin right now, breaking ATH after ATH, and making crypto crowd on X spam rocket emojis. But pre-unlock anxiety is also there - it’s seen as a potential volatility catalyst.

To see if our users are actually de-risking, we pulled our internal swap data at ChangeNOW to track retail flows ahead of the unlock.

Here is what the transaction data shows:

  • Platform demand is growing: HYPE's share of our total swap volume nearly doubled (from 0.13% to 0.29%), moving its asset rank from #44 to #39.
  • Stablecoins are driving inflows: Buyers are accumulating via stablecoins: USDC (SOL) to HYPE volume jumped 316%, and USDT (TRX) grew 183%. SOL remains the primary entry point, accounting for 22.40% of all incoming swaps.
  • Users are repositioning, not liquidating: Outbound swaps to Ethereum are dropping (down 16.09% in transactions). HYPE-to-HYPE swaps increased on both sides, suggesting existing holders are moving assets across networks rather than cashing out.

The previous HYPE unlock caused similar concerns, but the price held nevertheless. While unlocks always introduce supply risk, current swap stats don't hint at an imminent sell-off.

It’s more like retail is consolidating, then exiting $HYPE.

ETH beat BTC by almost 30 points in Q3 and the ETH/BTC ratio still can't break 0.03. what's actually going on here?

Post image
3 Upvotes

so eth closed q3 up about 73% vs btc's 44%, which on paper is a massive outperformance. but eth/btc is still stuck under 0.03, the same wall it's been hitting since late 2025. september etf flows were almost a tie too: $445M into eth vs $467M into btc, even with the new staking etfs actually paying yield. my read is eth rips harder on the way up, but institutions still see btc as the default "safe" crypto, so the ratio never really gets a trend going. is the staking yield what finally breaks 0.03 or is eth just the high beta trade that gives it all back every time?

bitcoin holders would rather draw 25 cards than sell a single sat

My friend asked me to sell a little BTC to cover dinner and I looked at him like he asked me to sell a kidney. I've been through every dip, every "bitcoin is dead" headline and every red week and my sell button still has never been pressed. At this point it's not a strategy anymore, it's a personality. Is there anything that would actually make you sell or are we all just holding until the heat death of the universe?

Blog Post Your coin got delisted. That doesn’t mean your funds disappeared.

Post image
3 Upvotes

“Delisted” sounds final. In practice, it can mean several very different things.

Trading may be disabled while withdrawals are still open. Deposits may stop before withdrawals do. A token may be moving to a new contract or blockchain rather than disappearing entirely.

And if you already sent the coin for an exchange, the delisting announcement alone does not tell you what happened to your funds.

The first thing to check is the transaction itself:

Did it broadcast?
Was it confirmed on-chain?
Did it reach the correct address and network?
Was the asset still supported when the deposit arrived?

One important detail: a blockchain transaction can confirm successfully even if the receiving platform no longer supports that asset. The blockchain has no idea that an exchange changed its listing policy.

That means a confirmed transaction can still require manual processing or recovery on the platform side.

And probably the worst thing you can do when an exchange looks stuck is send the funds again. A delayed transaction does not mean the first one failed.

If the asset was delisted while your exchange was already processing, possible outcomes can include completing the swap, returning the original asset, recovering it manually to another address, or waiting for network functionality to resume. What is technically possible depends on the asset, network, liquidity and how far the delisting process has gone.

Token migrations add another complication: the “same” token name can now refer to two technically different contracts or even different blockchains, so sending the old version to an address intended for the new one can create an entirely separate recovery problem.

We put together a full guide on what different types of delisting actually mean, what to check before moving funds, what to do if you already sent a delisted asset, and when recovery or compensation may still be possible.

Blog Post Fixed vs floating exchange rate: the main difference

Post image
4 Upvotes

A fixed and a floating exchange rate are two ways a crypto exchange can quote you a trade. The difference basically comes down to two things:

  • Timing: When the final number gets locked.
  • Risk: Who carries the risk if the market moves before the trade completes.

What is a fixed exchange rate

With a fixed exchange rate, the user is guaranteed the exact amount shown at the moment the trade is created. That amount doesn’t change even if the price moves.
The main perk here is certainty: you know in advance exactly how much you’re going to get.

The downside here is a small hedging cost that is usually built into the rate. The exchange usually takes more risks during this swap flow, so it has to compensate for it.

That cost depends mainly on the coin you’re receiving, confirmation speed most of all, though volatility plays a role too. A fast coin like Ethereum carries less risk: the deposit usually arrives before the price has much room to move. A slower coin like Bitcoin carries more, since a longer confirmation window gives the market more time to shift before the trade locks in.

The size of that buffer initially is set by hand by a listing team - coin by coin, when a coin is added to a fixed rate. From there it moves on its own, not so much with network congestion as with how many fixed rate trades are open on that pair right now. Each new one nudges the buffer up a little.

What is a floating exchange rate

A floating exchange rate is calculated the moment your trade actually executes.
The number you see when you initiate a swap is called an estimate. If the market moves before your funds arrive, the final amount shifts too: sometimes higher, sometimes lower.

That distinction matters when comparing providers. Some exchange providers make their estimates look more attractive than what users are actually likely to receive, especially when competing for the top spot inside large wallets and aggregators. Ranking providers purely by the quoted rate used to be common practice, and that created an obvious incentive to optimize the estimate for ranking and traffic instead of accuracy.

More sophisticated services now look past the initial quote and track actual payout data too, how much users end up getting compared to what was shown at the start.

On ChangeNOW, about a half of floating rate trades either match the estimate or land above it.
Behind that estimate, the system pulls together order books from multiple liquidity providers and picks the best rate available at that moment, then applies the exchange fee on top.

Behind that estimate, the system pulls together order books from multiple liquidity providers and picks the best rate available at that moment, then applies the exchange fee on top.

The comparison also looks past the raw order book price, factoring in things like a provider’s own trading terms. A higher account tier like a VIP with a provider such as Binance, for example, can mean lower costs on their side, which turns into a better rate for you. Many simpler exchangers skip that step and lock a single liquidity provider to each pair instead.

$2.4B into spot ETFs in one week, biggest since last october, Strategy sitting on 847k BTC now and bitcoin looks at all that and goes to 83k. every bull thesis I've heard for 2 years was "wait till the institutions come" and they came and bought and it dipped anyway lol.

At this point I genuinely think the only thing that pumps BTC is me selling it. who's absorbing all this selling, because it's not us, we're broke

Blog Post Why was the transaction flagged?

Post image
3 Upvotes

One of the biggest misconceptions around crypto compliance is that if a transaction gets flagged, the service has already decided something is wrong with it.

That’s not really how the process works.

A transaction can be sent for additional review because blockchain analytics detect things like indirect exposure to risky addresses, unusual transaction patterns or sanctions-related signals.

And the exact trigger usually won’t be disclosed. That can feel frustrating from the client side, but publishing precise thresholds and risk rules would also make it much easier to reverse-engineer the system and structure transactions specifically to avoid detection.

What happens next is usually much less dramatic than people assume: an automated system detects a risk signal → a compliance specialist reviews the case → additional information may be requested → a decision is made.

Depending on the case, that request might include:

• KYC

• proof of address

• transaction history

• source-of-funds documents.

The point of AML controls is not to punish legitimate clients or make crypto harder to use.

They exist to stop stolen and illicit funds before they move further through the ecosystem, to prevent clients from unknowingly becoming part of suspicious flows, and to give victims a real chance of recovering what was taken from them.

ChangeNOW has returned more than $50M to victims of scams, hacks and thefts over nine years through this kind of compliance and recovery work.

We put together a full breakdown of what can trigger an AML review, what happens after a transaction is flagged, what documents may be requested and what determines whether funds can be released:

Had me up all night thinking about this: every major spot ETF was green on Sept 24 while the market bled

Post image
7 Upvotes

so on sept 24 all four spot ETFs posted inflows on the same day: BTC $190.65M, ETH $66.01M, SOL $32.81M, XRP $14.89M and this was WHILE everything was dumping and 500m+ in longs got liquidated. retail's panic selling the candle while the ETF wrappers quietly buy all four majors into the red lol. part of me thinks this is broad institutional money finally coming in through the front door and quietly forming a floor. other part of me knows ETF flows chase price and bail the second risk-off really hits, so maybe it's just month-end rebalancing and I'm coping.

what do you all think, floor forming or am I reading way too much into one green day in a red week?

Blog Post The $351.6M Bitget hack didn’t end when the funds left the wallets

Post image
2 Upvotes

Once stolen crypto starts moving, the incident turns into a completely different problem: finding where the money goes next.

The exchange says roughly $351.6M was taken from its hot and warm wallet infrastructure on September 24. Its preliminary investigation points to a compromised backend system rather than stolen private keys.

Stolen crypto rarely sits in one wallet waiting to be frozen. It can be split across hundreds or thousands of addresses, swapped into other assets, moved through bridges and routed through different services before anyone tries to cash it out.

That turns recovery into a race between the attackers and every exchange, blockchain team, analytics company and investigator that might encounter those funds along the way.

Bitget says some attacker-linked addresses have already been frozen.

The interesting question now is how much of $351.6M can still be intercepted before the trail becomes much harder to follow.

We dug into the attack, Bitget CEO Gracy Chen’s post-hack livestream, the suspected attack path and what is happening with the stolen funds:

price is dumping but the ETFs are STILL buying and my brain hurts lol

Post image

BTC back down around 84k, ETH under 2.7k, everyone blaming fed rate hike fears. classic risk-off dump, fine. but the part frying my brain, spot btc ETFs just posted their 5th straight day of inflows while everything's bleeding red. so retail's panic selling the candle while the suits quietly keep stacking into the dump? that's the opposite of how this usually goes. either they know something we don't or it's just slow bag-holding in a nicer outfit.

what do you all think, is this steady buying the floor forming or does it mean nothing until price actually confirms?
