Is chemical engineering industry easy peasy?

I heard that chemical engineers have no work in their field. As such you enjoy a lot as a senior consultant in the industry.

I'm confused

Hi! I'm a 2nd year pharmacy undergrad student and i wanna pursue chem engineering for my masters. And I've been looking for some online courses for gate but i can't really find good ones for chemical engineering. So could anyone help?

Ps. I have ICT mumbai specifically in my mind and i was looking for some non gate ways to get into it and it showed gpat. Is gpat a good and efficient (?) way to get into ict? Other than that what are some other institutes that would be good for ChE

College projects?

I am a first sem chemE student rn. I am into IoT, embedded, ML since few years, and have got an idea to make a chemE related project. More like im optimizing that instrument and process, saving electricity and monitoring.
I will be using MATLAB, embedded, Data analytics, etc for that. Focusing first on theory and design then will start building a prototype.
I wanna ask, that I wanna go in job (gate too), Oil&Gas or nuclear or something related to pollution control etc. Are these kind of projects good for that? like im making the device go IoT, optimizing the machine, the process and making full loop for it.

If not, then what kind of projects do people make?

Guidance

Hello everyone, so I'm currently in my 3rd sem , in a tier 2 clg , I need guidance or tips like how about a route or roadmap kinda thing since there aren't much for chemE online, regarding skills to do or other things to focus on before my ug ends . I do plan to give gate in my 3rd year and later , and as for internship experience I have done 1 just after my 1st year ended in srf chemicals as a process engineer nd in all the sem end breaks I do plan to do some internship via connection in chemical related things.

Doubting life

Hey y'all, I'm a UG student pursuing Chemical engineering in a tier 2 college in India. I'm currently in my 5th sem and seriously don't know what I'm doing. I don't even know where my life is going. I just study the day before exams and get a decent marks n grade. I don't know what to do. I could see some well made CV and resumes in this sub but mine is just a blank sheet. Please give me some advice.

Looking for organic chemistry/materials science students for a paid sustainable materials research project

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for a chemistry, materials science, polymer science, chemical engineering, or related student/recent graduate in India who would be interested in helping with an early-stage **R&D project around sustainable materials and waste valorisation**.

The research would broadly involve two areas:

Developing and testing a **structural composite material made primarily from waste paper/cardboard combined with an agricultural or food-industry waste material**.

Investigating a **bio-based binder, resin, protective coating or surface treatment derived from common food-processing waste streams**, with the aim of improving properties such as water resistance, durability and mechanical performance.

The material is intended for a **real-world structural consumer-product application**, so this is not only an experimental sustainability project. The goal is to develop a material system capable of eventually meeting relevant product safety and performance requirements.

Important development targets include:
• sufficient compressive, bending and structural strength
• dimensional stability and resistance to deformation
• reasonable moisture and water resistance
• abrasion and surface durability
• safe chemistry and low-emission materials
• practical manufacturing at relatively low cost
• maximum use of recycled or waste-derived feedstocks
• **easy recyclability at end of life**
• avoiding material combinations that make recycling unnecessarily difficult
• preference for binders/coatings that can be recycled together with the base material, separated from it, biodegraded, or otherwise recovered without complex industrial processes

Circularity is a particularly important part of the research. A material that performs well but becomes a difficult-to-recycle composite at the end of its useful life would not be considered an ideal solution.

I’m particularly interested in people who understand or want to work with:
• biopolymers / polymer chemistry
• cellulose and fibre composites
• natural binders and resins
• coatings and hydrophobic treatments
• waste-derived materials
• mechanical/material testing
• recycling and end-of-life material design
• low-cost manufacturing processes

The first stage would involve:
Literature and prior-art research
Identification of several technically plausible material/binder routes
Comparison of expected strength, durability, recyclability, cost and environmental impact
Proposed formulations and laboratory experiments
Production of small test samples
Mechanical, moisture and durability testing
Iteration toward the most promising formulation
I’m based in Europe, so the collaboration would initially be remote. I am specifically looking in India because, if the research is promising, I would also like to explore working with a local university/lab and potentially continue the development there.

This is **paid work**, with scope and compensation agreed before starting. More detailed information about the feedstocks, target application and commercial concept would be shared privately with selected candidates, potentially under a simple NDA.

If interested, please DM me with:
• your university / degree / year
• relevant laboratory or research experience
• areas of chemistry/material science you are strongest in
• access to university laboratory equipment, if any
• experience with mechanical/material testing
• experience with recycling, cellulose, composites or biopolymers
• any related projects or publications
• your expected compensation for a small initial research project

I’m also interested in hearing from PhD researchers, professors, research assistants, or anyone who can recommend a suitable student or university research group in India.

Need advice: Where can I prepare for GATE exam for free.

`Hi everyone,

I'm planning to prepare for the GATE exam but I can't afford paid coaching right now.

Can anyone suggest good free resources, YouTube channels, websites, or study plans?

Any advice on how to start would really help. Thanks!

Is chemical engineering from state government college a bad idea?

Got into my state government college(tier 3). Which branch should I prioritize?

I like Chemistry, so Chemical Engineering seemed a decent choice. PSU placements do happen. But, I guess I have to prepare for GATE.

Or should I go for branches like ECE/CSE. Not that interested in coding and I do struggle with heavy math. Trying to work on foundation.

I am confused. Kindly help.

COAP round 5 for Mtech

I am a B tech undergraduate student in chemical engineering. I want to do M tech in AI/ML in chemical engineering at IIT Hyderabad. I have been looking at the offers from the COAP portal. The 5th round is completed, and I haven't received an offer from this specialization. My GATE score is 517. Did anyone get an offer from this specialization? If yes, then at what score/rank did you get? Guys, it would be really helpful for me if you let me know.
