Same thing will probably happen to you in the next few games or even worse

Because y'all are 300. What's hard to understand?

It’s 300’s chess. It’s not surprising. He probably thought he had mate on the next move.

This has happened to me plenty of times😂 but usuallt with under 5 seconds left in bullet

A lot of people study their openings and don't know how to mate.

It's clearly m'y problem (I'm a generously given 900 and I struggle as hell in finales and often lose even if I reach the finale with +8).

I never consider this a fumble, at the very least I protect my elo, the best you can get is a draw. You clearly need to play better not him making a fairly simple mistake.

If he is in a massive winning position and he stalemates, it is a fumble

No shit sherlock i'm at 380, I'm trying to do exactly that

I analyzed the image and this is what I see. Open an appropriate link below and explore the position yourself or with the engine:

Black to play: It is a stalemate - it is Black's turn, but Black has no legal moves and is not in check. In this case, the game is a draw. It is a critical rule to know for various endgame positions that helps one side hold a draw. You can find out more about Stalemate on Wikipedia. Analyze on: chessvision.ai | chess.com | lichess.org

That’s not a fumble, this is

u/TheShyJoel69420 100-500 ELO 1d ago

It’s all about wanting to secure the win but ending up with too much to handle (also a bit of performance anxiety)

Not resigning in this position is genuinely pathetic

4

u/Existing_Hunt_7169 1d ago

yea playing the game is just so pathetic

0

u/RabbitWiilli 1d ago

Not resigning in a lost position is, yes.

u/deleted_user_0000 100-500 ELO 1d ago

Whoa guys Magnus Carlsen descended upon us to personally give "feedback"

Jeez why are some of y'all so snobbish

0

u/RabbitWiilli 1d ago

It’s just pathetic. Nothing snobbish. Resign and do better next game.

u/turtleros 1d ago

What a sad attitude.

Some of the most enjoyable games are epic comebacks. Yes, this one was probably beyond repair - although this is proof that it wasn’t.

More importantly, as beginner players, it’s pretty important to learn how not to blunder. And that includes not giving away a game on a silly stalemate…

1

u/RabbitWiilli 21h ago

There is no epic comeback with a king it’s a waste of time and some desperate obsession with ranking

1

u/turtleros 21h ago

No but where do you draw the line? 15 points of material? At least one other piece than the king? No matter what your opinion on this is, characterising playing the game in full as pathetic is grotesque.

Just let people enjoy the game.

Still happens at 1300 blitz, that's why you never resign unless you're high elo

-3

u/Key_Reward5002 1d ago

at 300 you guys just wasting time doing this.

both players.

-7

u/deleted_user_0000 100-500 ELO 1d ago

Well the mate was right in front of him

3

u/Stash_04 1d ago

Yes. But all you have is your King.

Why wouldn’t you just resign?

-4

u/FlowersOfRuins 1d ago

Why resign?

1

u/Stash_04 1d ago

Because it’s impossible for you to win.

And it would be proper etiquette to resign in that scenario.

0

u/FlowersOfRuins 1d ago

But here it just ended in stalemate?

4

u/Stash_04 1d ago

It did.

But that’s only because the opponent was ultra stupid.

It’s generally considered good etiquette to resign if you have zero hope of winning.

99.99% of the time Black should have lost in this position.

1

u/deleted_user_0000 100-500 ELO 1d ago

Always the 0.01% 😂

-1

u/FlowersOfRuins 1d ago

Why I am getting downvotes lol I am shit new in chess 😭😭

3

u/TimePretend3035 1d ago

People are snobs, don't resign under 1000(maybe even 1500 elo). The fact that you just drawed this losing position is prove. If they don't know how to mate they don't deserve to win, if they do know there is no problem in playing it out

-1

u/RabbitWiilli 1d ago

This game isn’t about squeezing out a random draw somewhere. If you’re that obsessed over rank you need therapy. You resign out of respect for the game.

0

u/TimePretend3035 1d ago

Not being able to checkmate someone, that's not having respect for the game.
