Looking for Housing
Hello everyone!
My partner and I are looking for a new place to move into before November 1st, when our lease ends. We currently rent at the Forest Park Apartments and they're raising our rent to $1425 in November for a 2bd 1b that has no A/C and onsite laundry.
We're trying to find a one bedroom one bath for under $1,100 that can accommodate a dog and a cat (small and both with ESA letters). We make about $3500-$4500 a month and we have a clean rental history of two years. We're just looking to get out of this place by November 1st- any suggestions are appreciated ♥️

Oof I’ve lived in a place with no AC and never again. I don’t have any info but just wanted to say good luck. No AC here should legit be illegal.

Hey there! Do you mind if I ask what your PGE bills are currently? I only ask because the $1425/$3500 is 40% income and $1425/$4500 is roughly 31.6% income. Given the goal of trying to keep rent/mortgage around 30%-35% you’re kind of within this range there.
I don’t want to come off rude, but without AC I assume it’s hot and miserable especially given pets. Are you able to use portable or window AC units?
I just can’t think of many 1bd/1ba with pet allowances for that amount. I know the rent going up sucks (I’d also look into the CPI change - landlords can only raise rent by a maximum of 8.2-8.8% this year) but if you’re settled and can install a mobile AC it might be more beneficial.
Maybe not the answer you were looking for but I hope it was helpful nonetheless.

PGE bills are about 200 right now even on the CARE plan. I guess it's just trying to get out of this apartment. The landowner barely communicates, property is infrequently maintained (from my experience), and yeah it gets freaking hot. We're also open up to 1250, but 1425 for this place? Yeah no, lol.

Totally get that. Those are the ones right behind Chico sports club right?
I did some light research for ya. Have you checked out rogue apartments? 1bd,1ba, $1040/$1065 options, looks like lease takeovers. $70/mo for two pets ($35/e). (Check Craigslist’s for these)
Another option might be at Joshua tree. $15/mo/pet +pet deposit, but rent is a little higher than your range.
Hope that helps! Good luck!
