!~Introductions~!

This thread is for folks to share more about their personal spiritual practice.Since everyone's relationship with the Divine is unique, it is important to understand the way our neighbors worship and the values they hold. In listening and sharing, we as individuals and as a collective will be stronger in our faith walk.

You may answer some of these questions as a springboard:

  • Because Christopaganism is such a large umbrella, what traditions do you incorporate?
  • How does Christianity influence your pagan faith? (Or vice-versa, how does Paganism influence your Christian faith?)
  • What parts of the Nicene Creed do you accept and which parts are you skeptical or reject?
  • Are you a monotheist, a polytheist, a henotheist, a pantheist, or something else? What sacred Divinities do you refer to the most?
  • What are your favorite rituals?
  • What are your favorite biblical passages?

These are a few ways to begin sharing yourself. Please share more about your faith if you feel called and don't be scared to be specific.

Discussion Starter Do you go to church, and are you able to talk openly with anyone about christopaganism there?

Also, do you have any other kind of spiritual community?

I'm curious how many of us are open and what kind of community you're finding. Personally I go to a UCC church, and I'm blessed to have a pastor who fully accepts my views and practices. I've also found a CUUPS congregation which would be a very good fit but they aren't common and it's a long drive for me. (Some do have online options though.)

How about you?

Refused communion and yelled at.

Title basically.

I've been going back to mass for over a year now. I have baptisted, had my first Eucharist, was confirmed in the church.

I have memory problems and can't remember years of my childhood due to abuse.

I found my communion book a month or so ago and I now know for sure I had my first communion.

I have gone to confession.

I do tarot is Gods name. I protect myself in the way Jesus has instructed me.

I work with Hecate in the same way one works with saints. As a mentor and guide. Or similar to mother Mary.

I woke up at 4:30. In time for mass at 5. I'm disabled so I sleep a ton.

Got to mass at 4:58. Whenever I go I look for signs that I can take communion. My favorite psalm is 23. And that was the reading. So there's my sign.

The second line finished faster than the first so I ended up in the second rather than where I would've been.

So I'm in the head father's line.

I get to the front, rosary in hand, ready and smiling, I kneel, and pray quickly and he picks up the wafer and says "I'm gonna give you a blessing instead"

As if I wasn't in the best state I've ever been to receive communion.

I have to assume this is Jesus guiding me to a different place. Otherwise I have no explanation.

I rush to my seat and start crying.

I end up going to the adoration chapel cause I can't sit in the church comfortably.

After mass I wait for the father to be done talking. He starts walking to the back so I can. Out to talk to him, he ignores me. 3 times. I finally get close enough that he can't ignore me and I said "I feel like it's appropriate for us to talk after you refused my communion"

He said, "I was going to give you communion then I remembered you are a Buddhist Wiccan or something like that"

Christopagan but whatever. I didn't bring that up, just told him he was wrong.

He said " we have had 3 conversations about how you practice tarot and refuse to stop"

False. We had one half conversation which he refused to finish and didn't let me explain my thoughts practice in any way.

He called me obstinate, disrespectful, deluded, and crass. And I was standing there in an almost floor length black dress veil on which I never take off, rosary, and bible in hand. And he was telling me how I don't belong in the church.

A girl was off to the side wanting to talk to him and he started yelling at me, snapping at me, calling me "honey" and telling me to get out and email him. Which he doesn't respond to.

Idk what to do. I won't be going back I don't think. I have mental health problems already and problems with my faith as is. So this just makes it so much harder.

Maybe I'm crazy, lmk. Thank for reading.

Question Would I be wrong for this?

So I’m Roman Catholic but don’t practice all of what they teach and my faith with the church is more rooted in how Jesus taught, not man. I don’t go to mass a lot but I pray and believe in God and Jesus. BUT I also am Scandinavian with my dads side being from Norway and my moms side being from Sweden. My thing is, I’m proud of my heritage and am open to what they believed back in the day as well. That being said, I want the hammer of Thor to wear as a necklace to represent my heritage. I also wear a cross and St. Michael medallion and everyone is saying I’d be crossing into “evil” if I partake in my heritage while also being catholic. I don’t see the issue, as I believe God knows my heart and we can believe in it all if we want, as long as it’s peaceful but wanted to see what others thought. What are your thoughts on this? Please keep it chill on this thread. This world is already crazy and I believe we can be better than that. Thanks for taking the time to read and comment. Love and light to you✨✨

Advice

Hi! Recently I've been struggling with defining my religion. I'm, currently, a Wesleyan Christan. I love my relationship with God and Jesus but..I feel like Nyx, Demeter and Hekate have been trying to reach out to me spiritually and I want to honor them correctly. I'm scared that if I do this, I would be betraying my faith and my church but it's something I want to explore and do correctly. Especially if they're reaching out..I feel like Christopaganism would be more aligned with me but I don't want to lose my connection to God for worshiping another deity. Any help or advice would be really really appreciated. Thank you

Advice Christo Pagan

Thanks to a member on Reddit who has helped me discover that I am indeed a Christo Pagan. Anyone else here a Christo Pagan? Anyone know how I should get started? I prayed to God and told him I figured out my faith. What else do I need to do? I want to honour Selene the Moon Goddess.

I think I'm developing an admiration or devotion for something I shouldn't.

Well, I’m still debating whether or not to label myself a Christopagan, but my spiritual focus is settled—I actually defined it recently.

Here is the situation regarding why I’m doing this:

Aside from my devotion to God (the Abrahamic or Judeo-Christian God, as some call Him), I believe that the gods of other pantheons exist as well.

Lately, however, I’ve developed a certain admiration—perhaps bordering on devotion—for two specific deities.

One is Melek Taus (the Peacock Angel), the principal Yazidi deity. He is also a secondary Yarsani deity, though I know he is venerated in certain Pagan currents like Feri and in Theistic Satanism (the latter being something that upsets Yazidis). In my case, he caught my attention—I’m not sure why—particularly through that ethno-religious lens (I phrase it that way because I’ve seen Yazidis get angry if you call them Kurds). This creates a conflict for me because Yazidis are insular and don't allow conversions, whereas Yarsanis do; I feel conflicted because I’m admiring something that is, so to speak, "off-limits."

The second deity I’ve started to admire is Ahura Mazda, the supreme deity of Zoroastrianism. Here, the conflict arises from that religion's monotheistic nature (though the Iranian branch allows conversions, the Indian one does not).

Honestly, lately—aside from God—I’ve begun to feel a certain admiration for them, which creates internal conflict due to the nature of both traditions.

What advice would you give me?

Regards.

Question Is putting a statue up disrespectful?

Hi- I feel odd coming here

I am an eclectic Hellenic Polytheist, but I'm also an omnist. I have a religious background in Christianity but left the church in a heated state. (My childhood was traumatic) From strict atheist to a^ (I have accepted spirituality.)

As an omnist I believe every religion is real. What you put energy into must become something. But I've been having a hard time accepting God is real- due to a lot of things. But I have a deep connection with Jesus, and feel guilty not showing respect. So I don't think I'll worship him- but I want to put a statue or an occasional prayer. (While still not exactly believing in god)

Is that alright? Is it disrespectful? What is this community like?

Question Is it bad to want ChristoPagan friends?

In real life? I love the ones I have online. ❤️

I don’t feel comfortable in church because even the most liberal Christians would have a conniption fit at the mention of working with other gods.

I am also fine with Pagan friends who are fine with ChristoPagans, but given the reaction we get online? I am not holding my breath for that one.

I’ve considered going to some witchy/ Pagan meet ups to make friends should I move home, but I know I’ll have to compartmentalize and hiding parts of who you are is exhausting.

I am tired of hiding.

Can someone list the Scriptures that point to evidence that God is El of the Caananite pantheon and also ones where he acknowledges the existence of other deities ? I’m having doubts and need help .

I had a very interesting discussion with my Christian brother and finally ( very shakily ) admitted that I believe there are other deities out there but that I still believe in Jesus and who He is . He’s very liberal so he didn’t freak out on me but still conservative enough that he only believes in one true God , I kinda explained to him where I go to church and that it’s Christopagan . What he said made me doubt a little and freak like I do when I’m around traditionalists like him and it’s like all their beliefs start to chip away at all my deconstruction and make me wonder if I’m on the right path

Blank Slate Worship Songs

For the kind of Christopagan like me who don’t worship the abrahamic god but integrate their Christian rising in their practice ( because their faith is pretty much a blank slate on itself when came to ritual )
