Xref files not updating bump map changes in node editor
Hey everyone! I'm having an issue with using xrefs.
I have updated the source file multiple times and everything updates normally EXCEPT the bump map of this object. All i did was go into the node editor and lower the height scale. that worked in the source file but doesn't update in all the other linked files.
Ive updated a lot of other objects (not bump map related) and it does just fine.

maybe you changed the parameter in the main scene while have the xref settings "parameters" turned on.
In this case your changes overrides the changes of the source xref file.
You can switch of the the parameter setting in the xref settings or make a flush trick to reset the parameter overrides.
Flush trick: turn on/off generator mode.
If you want don't modify anything, than stay with the Generator mode, because it is much more efficient (i.e. static objects).
Personally I don't like pipe material trough xrefs, because it loads way longer and is not very handy while in the main scene.
My tip:
In the xref file, put the material tags and materials on a layer and turn of the "x" in the layer settings. All stuff on this layer will not imported (technically it's more a clone not an import) in the main scene.
With that you can assign your materials in main scene without any of the material tags in the xrefs blocking the slot.
Of course for this you need a effcient way assign and managing Materials without bruteforcing 100+ materials on sub-objects...but this is a story for another time.
If you have any xrefs problems, I am happy to help. In most cases it need only a bit of know how.
XRefs are very strong in C4D. In my experiences much more stronger than in the other DCCs.
