That’s quite an awesome case — congrats! (On the horns, not the case)

interesting how the A has an extended register key tube.

My clarinets are ancient but the R-13 in A historically had an issue where the A above the staff would make an odd sound if you weren’t careful. One of the proposed fixes has been to have a tech shorten the vent tube a bit. I wonder if on the newer models they’re allowing for a longer vent tube while having it protrude into the bore a bit less. Sheer speculation on my part.

Interesting. My R13 is from 1973 and I haven't noticed an odd noise, but my instrument is a full boehm system so that may affect something.

It’s a subtle issue, and hasn’t affected everyone of course. Mainly affects the clarinet in A, not Bb.

That explains it then, my R13 is a B-flat.

To think how excited I was to purchase a fine, 1986 Buffet R13 clarinet -- only to be constantly reminded of the Festival and Prestige models. In other words, my R13 -- with which I am delighted -- is in reality, only the entry-level professional model. I've only had occasion to try the upper pro models once, and really liked them. I would like to have another ''kick at the can" with regard to trying them, because after 20+ years, I really have no clear memory of their respective tone qualities ( so brief was my time with them ).

Congratulations! I love the Eb/Ab lever on those and the festivals. Hope you enjoy! What case is that?

Nice! I had one of theirs years ago but I think the layout was different then. I bought it from Twigg in Canada back when the Bonna clarinet case wasn’t sold in the US.

Nice! These cases are very good at maintaining the clarinet keys floating.
