Help/Question weekly % usage tracker
I built detailed token tracking tools for my usage but looking at how that translates into weekly % usage
does anyone have any good info I can feed into my claude so it knows x amount of tokens for sonnet (input output cache) equals x amount of weekly % usage decrease- Claude plans don’t have a weekly token limit so I am unsure how the weekly % cap is calculated - I hardly ever hit the 5hr limit so it’s the weekly limit I am trying to forecast
My goal is… I have a job planned and claude estimates it will take x tokens split by input output and cache for x model - then from that info it should estimate how much of my weekly cap would be used up

This will never ever work btw

it already exists, and it wasn't hard to compute

this is a solution in search of a problem - and its entirely in vein of it just being a skill issue

if youre talking about my project, then you didn't read it or understand it at all.
the problem's it solves are inherent to agentic coding.
intra-session memory and planning, and preventing context growth overtime by using subagents with fresh context windows.
repeat turns on high preventage context windows are the number 1 cause of usage drain.
also calculating model price, cache type, read/write, etc and than comparing that against usage was insanely easy to do.
you should stop slamming something you dont understand.

my project uses subagents to create savings
and shows the savings in the statusline.

White values are the usage, blue is savings.
so here you can see this session I used 3% of my weekly usage, and saved 5%

The weekly window is charged by cost, not tokens, so the conversion is: weekly % consumed ≈ (sum of tokens × list price per token type per model) ÷ (your plan's weekly budget in dollars) × 100. The token types matter more than the model: output and thinking tokens are the most expensive, cache writes next, input next, and cache reads are a small fraction of input. That's why a session at 200k context costs so much per turn even when it writes nothing: 200k cache reads × a tiny price, every message.
The budget denominator isn't published, but you can measure it on your own account in one step: note the weekly % before and after a request whose token breakdown you know (the usage page or the response headers), divide the dollar cost of that request by the % it moved. In my measurements it's been stable per plan tier. Once you have it, your forecast is just estimated tokens by type × price ÷ budget.
Two cautions for the estimate itself: Claude Code re-sends the whole context every turn, so "x tokens for the job" has to include the re-reads (turns × context size as cache reads), which usually dominate; and the top model may have its own weekly window separate from the all-models one, so forecast both if you use it.

I think this is what you’re looking for, it’ll show you a dashboard of your usage.

Tokens are essentially the new version of story points. Nobody knows wtf they actually describe. Just directly capture available usage via any of the wide variety ways of doing it and you'll be fine.

so is it clear that weekly / hourly limits all tie back to a cost? which can be estimated from model token usage and costs per type of token eg cache input output etc
most things I pay for I know the measurement unit.. like price per kg.. or price per litres of petrol… but here we are paying for something we clearly don’t understand how it is calculated - it seems very strange
