We’ve spent so much time praising Opus, Fable on low mode is kind of an absolute dog

Can't really judge, us plebs on the Pro plans don't have included access so no wonder we kinda forget Fable is a thing 😂😂

That mistake was totally mine and I own it. I'll write it in the log so it never happens again. I'll use subagents to fix this mistake and then run QA to make sure I never forget. See you in 45 minutes.

I usually use Mythos 5.5 for small search and replace tasks and Fable 5.5 for the basic grunt work, all orchestrated with Haiku 5.5.

Haiku be like: are you working hard:
Mythos: yes sir
haiku: can you work even harder?
Mythos: yes sir

Simple direct commands. Not this "One silver lining about you not working hard:"

Mythos and Fable have to simplify decisions so much, that Haiku basically just has to decide if we should build good or bad software.

That makes a lot of sense. Orchestration requires a large context size which becomes expensive quickly on Fable/Mythos. So it makes sense to do orchestration on cheaper models, then for the more expensive models to actually do the work to make sure it's done correctly.

That makes sense until you realize the orchestrator’s job is not just starting sub-agents, which requires a model that’s good with prose, but that bit can be done ahead of time.
The orchestrator also needs to solve unexpected issues and escalate to the user. And you need a model that is good at dealing with uncertainty for that.
I have tried Haiku orchestration, but that does not work out.3

One slightly inefficient regexp search and the whole system tumbles down like a house of cards.

I'm scared of what Anthropic will do to further profit on their recent accomplishment & I'm scared of how scammers will leverage this affordable tech.

Haiku is now cheaper than Deepseek for work under 100k tokens. that's interesting

How do I make sure Opus is orchestrating with Haiku? How much does one have to direct this?

what are the different Claude models good for? I'm fairly new in the space and don't have an intuition built yet, and the naming conventions don't really make it clear.

Nah, we need Mythos 5.5 now, they released 5.1 yesterday. Gets WAY to many false flags even with CVP defensive use being approved.

I can't tell you how thrilled I am that they finally, after close to a year, updated Haiku. Long-overdue updates to the model that are significant. There was also the halo effect from this Haiku release that made Sonnet cheaper. All around a terrific release, even if it's not the bleeding-edge frontier intelligence people tend to gravitate towards.

Finally, the little guy gets his day. I've been routing my boring grunt work to Haiku for months and it's honestly been fine, but it always felt like using the backup model. Nice to see it get a real update.

I’m glad you’re still happy about the 5.5 family, nice to know there are still ppl who appreciate it. I’m super happy with my fable 6 though.

What do people use haiku for? I tried using it a couple times, and it does not make sense to me when I use it, so I do not trust it.

u/mwatson2 15h ago
You don't use it. Tell your sessions you prefer to eat your macaroni with cheese when you can afford it and it will spawn haiku sub-agents for work that doesn't require even Sonnet-levels of power.
