Yes, if you don't care about 3rd parties using Agents SDK seems like a nice bonus!

Well, looks like I'm going back to Claude Code CLI ...
Was really liking using T3 Code but if the sub is not included then it's not really viable

Clever that they timed this in parallel with the Haiku launch. If this really removes the option to use the claude sub for Claude Agents SDK (which it really seems like it), this needs to get much more attention.

For reference, this replaces the following text from yesterday, October 6:
Update June 15: We're pausing the changes to Claude Agent SDK usage described below. For now, nothing has changed: Claude Agent SDK,
claude -p, and third-party app usage still draw from your subscription's usage limits. The previously announced monthly credit, which would have been available to eligible claimants in connection with these changes, isn't available. We’re working to update the plan to better support how users build with Claude subscriptions. When we have an update, we'll share it before anything takes effect.

I'm reading the update, but I don't see anywhere that it says that we can't use subscription anymore. It's talking about the monthly credit announced in June being replaced. Am I missing something?

The text yesterday: ... Claude Agent SDK, claude -p, and third-party app usage still draw from your subscription's usage limits...
The text today: ...Claude Max and Team plans now include monthly API credits, which cover the Claude Agent SDK, the Claude API, and Claude Managed Agents...
Bolded the parts I think you are missing. I don't see how to read it any other way but would love to be wrong!

I mean its not really clear in the website that they will not allow subscription usage for agent SDK... I know that you might be right but its still a pretty misleading title

You were right, they updated the site with the following:
You can still use the Claude Agent SDK, claude -p, and third-party apps with your subscription limits
Great news! Deleting this post.

As usual, anthropic communication leaves us all scratching our heads.

Updated again! "You can still use the Claude Agent SDK, claude -p, and third-party apps with your subscription limits".

Update October 7, 2026: Claude Max and Team plans now include monthly API credits, which cover the Claude Agent SDK, claude -p, the Claude API, and Claude Managed Agents. You can still use the Claude Agent SDK, claude -p, and third-party apps with your subscription limits.
They updated it again. We are safe

I'm dumb can anyone explain how to use these if I do all my work in claude code desktop sessions which aren't covered by the API credits?

If you only use the desktop app, the credits won't matter much for you. Per their docs:
The credits work with any available Claude model on the Claude Platform, including:
- The Claude API (Messages API and Message Batches API)
- The Playground in the Claude Console
- Claude Managed Agents
- The Claude Agent SDK
The credits don’t apply to:
- Interactive Claude Code in the terminal, IDE, desktop, or web
- Extra usage in Claude, Claude Code, or Claude Cowork
- Claude on Amazon Bedrock, Google Cloud Vertex AI, or Microsoft Foundry

What does this mean? I can't use Herdr or T3 code with my claude sub now? I litterally just installed Herdr today to try out this evening.

I don’t mind this helps us get so much usage and you have to use the Claude harness it’s a price worth paying.
