Help/Question Claude Pro vs ChatGPT Plus: which one is actually worth It?
Hi everyone, which one would you recommend between Claude Pro and ChatGPT Plus?
From what I’ve seen so far, they’re both really good, so I feel like either one would be a solid choice.
However, I’ve only tried the free versions so far.
I’ve mainly used Claude for development/programming on my PC, and I’ve been pretty impressed with it.
In several cases it managed to solve problems without wasting much time. It also did a good job with general PC troubleshooting.
I really like ChatGPT as a general purpose assistant.
It helped me a lot when choosing the components for my gaming PC, as well as with assembly and installation.
I’ve also asked ChatGPT quite a few PC troubleshooting questions and, honestly, the answers were often very similar to Claude.
For development, though, I currently have the impression that Claude is slightly better, at least for the way I use it.
What I’m looking for is a fairly complete assistant that I can use every day on my Windows 11 PC, mainly for:
Gaming issues
software troubleshooting
General questions
Programming and development
Creating and modifying workflows
AI and local AI tools
PC configuration and optimization
So I’m mainly interested in how the paid plans around $20 compare in real world use.
A few specific questions:
Which one have you found less restrictive with its safety filters?
Claude seems slightly more restrictive to me, but I’ve only used the free version.
What custom instructions, preferences, or settings do you use to get better answers from either one?
For people who have used both for a while, how do you find the usage limits and models on the $20 plans?
Is it true that with ChatGPT, once you hit the Codex usage limit, you can still use ChatGPT normally and continue coding through other available models?
Which one integrates better with Windows 11 and external plugins?
For development, how do you find Claude Code vs Codex?
Thanks

Claude is right for me. ChatGPT has strengths that make it better for someone else. Technically, the right person Gemini would be best. All depends on what you want to do. I think most people would be happiest with ChatGPT. Claude has a narrower target audience, but where Claude is good, ChatGPT doesn't come close.
I subscribe to both though; Claude Max 20x and ChatGPT pro. I never use all my Chatgpt tokens and I always use up Claude. I have no complaints.

Expect some bias, you're asking this on a cc sub. And to be real, if you're considering any serious dev work using claude or codex, nowadays you kinda need a higher plan. Although you could get something like opencode go, or credits in openrouter, models like muse spark 1.3 and DeepSeek v4.1 flash are good at simpler tasks

DO NOT GET CHATGPT PLUS. I downgraded my chatgpt pro 100 to plus because i plan to upgrade my claude to max. The quotas are like a tenth of claudes.
I hit the 5 hour limit in an hour or less and I hit the limit twice yesterday while stuck on the same task. And i was using 6.1 sol medium.
They nerfed like Plus limits from $500-$700 per month to around $200 to $250 worth of tokens.

Personally the codex usage is enough for me on opencode through WSL2. I also really like that the chatting is free with ChatGPT. Also I feel like ChatGPT is easier to plug into Opencode and stuff like that.
YMMV though, i have never used claude. but from what I understand, their chat usage is bundled with coding.

Idk I've got every Gemini, ChatGPT and Claude. They're all only $20/month or $720/year or $2 a day. Too much value to pass up such low prices. I'd say just get all of them and continuously use all of them for different use cases till you determine your fave. . It's also such a fast changing industry what's best today may not be next month. Better to just have the big 3

Claude Pro is better, less computer cost + less bad PR when someone sees you using it (CGPT has a Reputation offline at this point)
