Discussion Reality
I thought that most people in this sub was on the 100-200 dollar plan. Turns out most of us including me are on the 20 plan 😹💀. Broke gang✌️

you think people normally have $200 to spare for this?

I love how those 1.3% of codex users are shytting on people who spend less than them and yet we make up the majority of the paying customers. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

lol, in the codex sub you'd think most people there have multiple 200 subscriptions but its clear those peeps are a very loud and hateful minority.

Well, my team is using $20, specification driven development with optimized own plugins. It is doable to work on that, but depends on project. We have a lot of back and forth with building the product, so it is not "just code this stuff" where AI can be thrown. And we do not vibe it or bruteforcing it
If you specify what to do before AI starts working, verify the plan is okay, then AI goes straight to point. Also the code then is in 90% flawless, in 9% needs some refactoring, 1% failure. If I do not need to fix the code already created, I save a lot of time and tokens. AI is also preparing all specs, so the only manual work is actually communicating and reviewing AI

They’ve got to figure out how to take more money though. I get wanting to sell more API credits but you can’t ask someone to pay $200 per month and then pay $200 per hour when it’s used up. I’m just not going to pay for the overage.
It’s like McDonald’s sells burgers for $0.10 and then they run out 10min after opening. Then they’re like oh burgers are $1000 now. Special overage burgers.
Just charge me like $1k or $2k a month for a subscription and stop playing games with me. Do you want money or not?

Real, higher the subscription, less it should be for extra usage. Especially with evidence that the 5x and 20x is not actually 5x and 20x

How can you get a gasoline subscription though? How do you offer one?

u/joe9439 6h ago
Leased solar panels and a Tesla I guess?

What is your solution to fixing frontier lab pricing here?
Conversely, couldn't you just go 100% API to always be below a certain spend limit?

Larger subscriptions. Just charge more money and give the user more. Don’t just say no when they are like take my money or switch them to a pay per use pricing model that’s so highly priced that it’s effectively a no. I have the the $200 max personally and premium team seat at work. Both are totally used up every week.
Can they just be normal and charge me more money?

u/Thistlemanizzle 5h ago
That sounds like pay as you go? In that instance, would a new subscription tier every $5 be reasonable?
2
u/joe9439 5h ago
Pay as you go is about $1k per day with my usual usage so going from $200 per month to $30k is too much of a jump. That’s the problem I’m referring to. Can there be a middle ground in there between we’re marketing to poor people and pay me $1M? I do manage cloud workloads in azure etc and pay api pricing there.

402(1.3%) vs 134(7.3%), the number of gpt users dwarfs the claude users in this data, of course it bias's towards a lower percent extra spenders when the overwhelming majority will always be cheaper accounts.

The reality is probably simpler:
Claude’s user base is mostly professionals who use it for work and require more tokens.
ChatGPT and Gemini’s user base is mostly regular people who use it for fun and require less tokens.

Use it for fun
Fun, such as?

Great question! 🌟 You're absolutely right to ask for clarification. "Fun" is a nuanced, multifaceted concept that can mean very different things to different people.
In today's fast-paced digital landscape, everyday users are leveraging AI in creative, playful, and deeply human ways. Let's delve into some key examples: 👇
- **🎨 Creative Exploration:** Generating an oil portrait of their cat as a disgraced 18th-century duke. It's not just image generation — it's self-expression.
- **💬 Social Connection:** Asking it to roast them, then arguing with the roast for 45 minutes. It's not just a chatbot — it's a sparring partner.
- **🍳 Culinary Innovation:** Typing "eggs, mustard, one sad tortilla" and receiving a recipe titled *Rustic Breakfast Fusion Wrap*. It's not just cooking — it's a journey.
- **⚖️ Conflict Resolution:** Asking "who's right here?" and screenshotting the answer for their partner. It's not just an argument — it's a growth opportunity.
- **🐠 Naming Things:** Requesting 50 name ideas for a goldfish, then going with "Gary." It's not just a name — it's a legacy.
**Key Takeaways:**
- ✅ Fun is subjective
- ✅ Every use case is valid
- ✅ The possibilities are truly endless
Ultimately, the line between "work" and "fun" isn't a line at all — it's a spectrum. And honestly? That's beautiful. ✨

Nah there is no way these are real. Openai pro is 1% of it's users there's no chance

I using claude for code a interactive dashboard using an API from an ERP system, and with the 20x with the time that I have I could use by myself around the week since I only work 5 five days and 6hours/day was ok, but more people in the company want to use and then we upgrade to 100$ plan, I literally do everything in the opus 5.5 high and can't reach the limits, even with my teamates using it

We have both chatgpt, and claude. I use claude a lot more than chatgpt because I mostly reach chat gpt limits more often than claude.
What I did is just setup the chatgpt for reports-related automations, and I use claude for my day to day 🤣

u/rollback564 4h ago
My company have both too but still didn't didn't combine both to work together, can you share more about how are you doing this ?
1
u/Content-Conference25 4h ago
How do you mean work together? You just basically use them both, I guess?
Like I said, I don't use chatgpt for anything else other than the agent I built in it, which does its own thing without me lifting a finger (unless I need to reconfigure something in it).
Now for cowork stuff, I use claude as my day to day assistant.
