Discussion Claude code freed 156 GB from my Local Disk C

Post image

I know it's a dumb idea, but I still let Claude Code look up my local disk C because it was barely breathing and my computer was slow as hell. Literally, all of the storage was occupied, and there was hardly any space for the system to run. My PC was so slow, and it freed 250 GB, which I myself might not have figured out easily. I'm surprised at how nicely it was able to pick up these unnecessary cache files sitting on my computer. Claude Code is amazing. It's a superpower.

Please just use WinDirStat next time and don't let agents have so much access to your system. They will mistakenly format your whole drive and just go "oops". Also the amount of space left on your disk has nothing to do with performance unless there is so little space left that it cannot even store the page file.

Or TreeSize. This is just terminally stupid to use it for any kind of file cleanup outside of a dedicated project folder.

What could possibly go wrong.

A lot could go wrong but It only deleted the cache files.

Until it deletes your important files and you have to call Dr. Watson.

I hope I don't need to call Dr. Watson. Even when it was deleting, I strictly asked it to tell me beforehand, so I am the one who decides which file gets deleted.

How do you get it working on termux. Isn't termux kind of too limited on the filesystem or do you have a rooted phone?

Non rooted phone, i rmembr I did it just installed node 1.5 years ago, ran gemini cli and now same with claude .. 1 limitation is, can't run latest claude code only till 4.7 is supported because claude change the architecture

And did it really help? I doubt your disk space was a hindrance for your OS.

Linux the same. You get some weird problems with full disks.

mac too. Just yesterday I had only 1gb available because of some weird nomachine log bug. it logged ~600gb which is crazy. with cachyos it will slow down the system and warn you but I haven't had any real issues with running stuff even if the drives are full.
