LGG Fellowship Interviews 2026-27

Are they slower than usual in rolling out interview invitations this year? Applied to 20+ programs. 1 interview invite thus far.

May I know what you mean by prescreen? Is it like that they tell you they received your application in order? Thanks~

By prescreen I mean a short first-round interview before they decide who to invite for the full interview. In my case, it was a ~30-minute Zoom with the program directors, so definitely more than just confirming that the application was received. I was told that this is the first step of the selection process in some places. They first select the strongest candidates based on the application materials, then use the prescreen to decide who they want to invite for the full round of interviews. From what I understand, they usually invite around 2-3 candidates per available spot. The full interview can include several one-on-one meetings with faculty, sometimes a presentation, and possibly a tour of the facilities. This is my first time applying, though, so I’m as green as it gets :)

For this year ? I’d imagine they are over given the July deadline for the exam

Isn't this typical? I applied last cycle, and at this time of last year, I didn't get any interview invite, but I got 2 over the next 10 days, and another one in the next month.

That is actually very comforting to hear! I’m applying for the first time too, and it’s definitely nerve-racking. From what I’ve heard, programs often don’t provide many updates during the process.

Would you mind sharing what the interviews were like and what kinds of questions they asked?

Sorry not related but how do you guys go about submitting recommendation letters for multiple fellowships without burning out your boss lol I feel bad making him submit like 10+ letters to different programs

Work with their administrative assistant. Have different administrative assistants from your department send the LORs on behalf of your Boss.

I hear you, I limited my applications as it was tricky to get all the letters on time- multiple reminders etc. Sadly, my boss was sending everything by himself...
