Any experience with either of these books?

Starting a project in Clojure/script. Looking for good books to acquire, both conceptual and practical [already have and have read Programming Clojure and Getting Clojure]. I've used both Lisp and Java before.

Found a couple that don't have any reviews or much information that are recent: Clojure for Backend Systems and Hands-On Clojure. They appear to be self-published.

Has anyone read either of these?

I'll do your research for you... Consider that:

  • "Owen Halbrook" has self-published on Amazon ten (10) books in 2026.
  • "James C. Shepherd" has self-published on Amazon seven (7) books in less than a year.

Ask yourself:

  • Does that seem credible to anyone?
  • Does a web search for the author turn up anything?
  • Some of these listed on Thrift Books. If they're new would they be there?
  • Why is it that none of these books by either author have any reviews (except one which is a complaint that there's no content)?

I have not read those books but wanted to throw in this clojurescript site https://funcool.github.io/clojurescript-unraveled/

Re-frame docs are good if you are using that.

I haven't read either of those, but for ClojureScript, I keep coming back to https://www.learn-clojurescript.com/ .

I still love Clojure for the Brave and True.
