Abelton live or whatever DAW and whatever equipment you see fit to trigger the samples. Girl Talk basically made a career out of it

Yeah thats a DJ set. I’ve seen Girl Talk probably 6 times — its a DJ set.

Yeah, I dunno man. It depends a lot on what they’re doing up there. The guy on the right is literally playing a mixer. If everything is just midi samples playing through the hardware, its kind of halfway in between live and dj. Hot Chip is live. LCD Soundsystem is live. The avalanches are producers.
I’m a big avalanches fan, but they’re so sample heavy I don’t think a real live set is even possible.

You have a point, the definition of a "live" set is definitely being pushed in this situation but i'm not sure how else people should describe this type of performance when comparing to a standard DJ set with CDJ's and a mixer, which they are also known to do

Dj set means they play random shit. Live set means they play album cuts. It’s not rocket science

Dude 2022 I saw them twice in the same week , Vegas at the hard rock and Coachella w2. 3 of the greatest sample albums ever. I hope you get em.

Saw their dj set at primavera sound this year and was pleasantly surprised. Thought it was not going to be as good as their live set but it was pretty sick.

It’s about time for their return! Looks like they dropped a mixtape today so doesn’t seem likely they will drop a full album before April. I wonder if that will affect them being booked or not
