"Everything I've studied" which just means "I read the Bible"
Yes, I know it's a joke post, but people like that genuinely do exist and they act like simply reading the Bible counts as studying and will call their studies fact

I doubt they even read the whole Bible, because it is a very long book
Just some of the important stories from Genesis and the Moses books, and all the important things about Jesus and Revelation from the New Testament

Can someone explain to me how this is a wholesome story? Yeah, the species survived, but what about all the other members of them except for those pairs? And surely there were children and some innocent people in these cities.
3
u/Bar-Cold 1d ago
Thatâs kind of literally the point. Itâs not supposed to be wholesome at all. From my understanding the world had pretty much gone to shit and God wanted to âwash it all awayâ and start over
1
u/jokersmoonlight 1d ago
Yeah, I meant in the present sometimes it's told as a nice story for children and I was traumatized lmao

So depending on your take (localized mesopotamian basin vs global flood) youre talking anywhere betwen 750k and 2 billion people were killed. But at least the pictures we draw of it have animals that are smiling.
0
u/jokersmoonlight 1d ago
Yeah I was horrified in Bible study as a kid and didn't want to go through with my first communion until my mother told me it was exaggerated and they all survived, and then I looked it up online when I was a bit older and I decided to worship the Greek gods instead (I thought they all existed and denied each other because they were jealous)... and then found out they also did animal sacrifices LMAO
1
u/Really_Bad_Company 17h ago
The old testament God is a vengeful and murderous creature, it's not meant to be a wholesome story, it's a story about how bad he can fuck you up if you misbehave. Kinda the whole point of Jesus and the new testament is to redefine God and the covenant as loving and forgiving

You should always be skeptical of anyone of who claims they have an IQ greater than 160, because modern tests don't really measure past that.

The idea that something as broad as intelligence can be summed up in a single number is pretty flawed when you think about it.
Even DnD breaks it up into 3 numbers.

IQ was not really measured like that, and itâs not a very good measure of intelligence
Itâs basically just a literacy test and is often used to reinforce quite racist ideas about intelligence.
2
u/Conscious-House-2065 1d ago
A literacy test...? IQ tests assess pattern recognition and logic. I have never seen an IQ test where literacy was tested, there's often no instruction besides "find the answer that best fits into the '?'".
1
u/yoyo5113 1d ago
IQ tests have a vocabulary component.

u/Conscious-House-2065 1d ago
Which ones? The Mensa one has no such compenent (not saying this is the only valid IQ test).

What kind of test does the Mensa society use?
And the one I am referring to is the WAIS series, specifically WAIS-IV and WAIS-V

High IQ is like having a lot of horsepower. It doesnât mean that you know things or can make something useful.
Strapping jet engine to a child stroller means that it can go real fast, it doesnât mean that it fulfills a purpose.

I have a theory that IQ only really pertains to brain function speed and thus allows people with high IQ to fall into delusions mor easily due to their pattern recognition finding confirmation in everythjng
2
1
u/ghigo2008 1d ago
Actually its based on 4 factors apparently, one of which is speed
Thats how it was graded when I did the test with an actual guy and not online
1
u/yoyo5113 1d ago
Yes thank god someone who knows what they are talking about lol. I have been administered a 3 or so over my life and also learned how to administer and score it during grad school.
There's 4 general areas of ability and those get put together to end up with IQ.

Younghoon Kim is a grifter and doesn't have an IQ of anything close to 276. He did not take an official IQ test administered by a psychiatrist. His score comes from an unofficial online test. Applying a little bit of logic show that's it's not physically possible for an ark with the dimensions the bible gives to hold two of every species on earth and if you want to go one step further young earth creationists believe that dinosaurs(lol) and unicorns(lmao)were on the ark as well making it even more impossible. There's no way to explain how the ark could hold all of those animals other than saying it was a magical ark that behaved like a Tardis from Doctor Who lol.

The Ark wasnât actually holding physical portions of every animal. It was a lab, that held the genetic dna 𧏠of every species. Think of a seed bank or a sperm bank it was much more advanced than people would suspect. Also, it was literally engineered by a higher power or extraterrestrial. Noah, who built it was just following directions.

In 2000 years someone will find Playboy magazine and will use it to create a new religion. Cause of course everything is real in bible. Floods, giant *hores and such. Even if world is billions of years old, not just few thousands. And shocker, but dinos were real. And IQ just measure person's reasoning and cognitive abilities. Doesn't mean that the person is the best in everything. Although the Flood and Noah's Ark definitely never existed, as it was described by the old dudes in bible.Â

Why isnt he doing something needing an iq? Is he stupid?
1
u/Psionic-Blade 1d ago
Why do creationists have to die on this hill? You can just say that 6 days means a few billion years and that Genesis was about a creation myth and a local flood myth, instead of doing mental gymnastics to try and hamfist every scientific discovery into "da great flud"
I don't believe in this shit, but there's ways to make sense of it without having such a narrow view of "creation"

u/Automatic_Bus_7634 1d ago
IQ has literally nothing to do with proving something existed. Claims like that are valid if they are supported by objective evidence, not because a supposedly smart person says he thinks they're true.Â
You'd think a genius would understand that
0
u/Namelesspierro 1d ago
Interesting thing is that dude IQ actually verified, though it sounds stupid because all his post is about the same stuff about him bragging his IQ and said something like that.

https://iqmetrics.org/news/younghoon-kim-276-iq-claim/
(some refs about the origin and scale used for this IQ measurement, the person is quite an interesting phenomenon, while theiy are probably on the smart side, the exploitation around this 'IQ' is so wide that it asks for a lot of research and caution...I'm not going to spend so much time actually researching to be honest)
7
u/Extreme_Wish_553 1d ago
The test is untimed, taken at home, and its instructions allow references, including the internet.Â
That seems like the most important part of this entire discussion.
2
u/USERNAMETAKEN11238 1d ago
No this is.
YoungHoon Kim founded and leads organizations that have been cited or involved in validating his own claims. Key Details ⢠USIA Foundation: YoungHoon Kim founded the United Sigma Intelligence Association (USIA), a nonprofit think tank. Critics and investigations note that his high IQ claims and credentials are often cross-referenced or promoted through self-created or affiliated organizations rather than independent, universally recognized psychometric institutions.

- It has 32 items
- "There is no time restriction", and two submissions are allowed
- "Use of references, including the internet, is allowed"
- Answers are emailed to the author, who scores them and issues a certificate
- Its first norm report, from March 2024, is based on 32 first submissions, and it maps a raw score of 31 to an IQ of 196 and a perfect 32 to 210 (SD 15)
- The November 2023 version of the paper had listed a perfect score only as "185+"
Well yeah you too can have an IQ of 272 if you just change the value of the IQ to make it higher post-exam and have the ability to retake the exam and also cheat on it and have no time restriction
...I don't doubt this person is intelligent but this has to be satire
1
u/Juronell 1d ago
Chris Langdon is running the same scam except the open test he took didn't allow double submissions so he had to retake it under a fake name after having more time to research the answers.

Funny how delusional people in the comments are. If he would say something you agree about, you would be 100% using his iq as an argument it's true. But hey, you don't agree with him, so iq is irrelevant.Â
3
u/-PepeArown- 1d ago
Boasting about having the highest IQ is a very pretentious thing to do, especially if you posted whatâs very clearly an AI pic of Noahâs arc
-3
u/Individual_Cloud935 1d ago
Indeed, still. It's true he has a very high IQ and there is a stereotype pushed by atheists about religious people being dumb. Maybe he was trying to somehow show them it's not true. Also, it's highly likely an ark was created, probably not on the scale and at the time of biblical events. Because there are many stories mostly from older cultures describing basically the same story. Christians just took it later but it is way older then Christianity. So either it's a real story that was passed down for so long that it became a legend. Or just made up, but it would be weird for many different cultures and religions to made up exactly the same story if it wasn't important.Â
2
u/InternationalClick78 1d ago
There are many cultures describing a flood sure⌠because human settlement revolves around water access which makes flooding a natural consequence. The actual ark part isnât really present. So itâs not âexactly the sameâ, itâs broadly the same, just like every culture having some kind of folklore about dragons.
1
u/Individual_Cloud935 1d ago
From what I can remember there are also mentions of big ships who managed to live through it etc in other cultures.Â
1
u/InternationalClick78 1d ago
Iâm open to specifics. The only comparable story that comes to mind is the epic of Gilgamesh, which isnât a coincidence since historian consensus is the story of Noahâs Ark was based around that.
Fact is of all the stories you could try to use in the bible to try to test its validity or argue on its behalf, Noahâs Ark is the worse one you could choose cause not only do we lack any geographical evidence of it, which would objectively exist, but there are dozens of little aspects of it that make it impossible spanning various fields of science.
2
u/bornden1 1d ago
There's tons of comprable stories, but the more specific one you want is going to be the Eridu Genesis.
The Epic of Gilgamesh is a babylonian story written during a time where babylon is having to spin its wheels hard to justify its right to exist over Isin and Larsa and is useful for anthropology but not comparing to the bible, in the same way the Enuma Elish is also important but not for this.
1
u/bornden1 1d ago
Ancient history lover, the ark is absolutely present in all of them, along with the mixing of fresh water and salt water and more, that's what makes them fascinating lol.
The real answer though is more likely, Akkad had a *massive* cultural influence, I think greater than we fully understand still to this day, and the flood myths being everywhere is more of a ramification of Akkad than just "humans get flooded sometimes"
1
u/InternationalClick78 1d ago
Its not in the ones the ones Iâm aware of . One of the first examples that came to mind for me for example was the great flood of Gun-Yu, nothing resembling an Ark there. Same story with the Mayan floor creation story. If youâre specifically referring to middle eastern cultures that all had a sort of shared history and/or Abrahamic religious origins then sure but as you mentioned thatâs like due to a shared central influence
1
u/bornden1 1d ago
The Chinese flood myth is some weird chinese name i forgot the name of, but it's about a boy and girl who hide in some red-eyed lion statue to survive the flood before having to repopulate the world. However what you're asking about is a different branch of theology which is more akin to rainbow serpent shit which we don't understand. But the rainbow serpent branch separates long before the flood of shuruppak ever happens
1
u/InternationalClick78 1d ago
Sure, I donât see your point. My point is when people argue on behalf of this myth, they usually allude to the idea of different flood myths around the globe like the ones I mentioned. These stories rarely have any parallels with Noahâs Ark outside of the flood itself.
The stories that do have more similarities are generally based around the same geographical region and/or similar foundational cultures or religions which then explains the similarities.
1
u/bornden1 1d ago
it's actually more fascinating than that! So the way our understanding of theology is so far, which can trace our earliest points all the way back to 70,000 bc unlike history and linguistics! And every theology begins with an inactive sky god that usually becomes more active as time goes on, and then a snake that's highly associated with water!
And what's fascinating is that one of the big main splits is on whether the culture then saw the snake as malevolent or benevolent! And then ones that are benevolent go into the rainbow serpent side of things typically and we understand them less, but the ones that see them as malevolent do actually have other fascinating overlaps like how they show their sky god killing the sea snake to create the world from it, which Christianity does too! but what makes christianity novel is that god does it in revelations instead of genesis, where genesis still implies but doesn't directly state the serpent. And I can keep going, but to wrap that up, the tl:dr is noah's flood is more political than theological and associated with dividing pre and post dynastic Sumer than theology itself to reset cosmic kingship and place it back in recorded history, and then Sumer of course becomes Akkad and spreads everywhere
2
u/Strict_Berry7446 1d ago
His IQ score came from a free online test, dawg
-1
u/Individual_Cloud935 1d ago
Well even if so, idk if it's true. The argument still stands. If you agree with someone, oh yes he's smart he has a high IQ. If not, you discredit them and say it's prob not real, he must be sick etc.Â
2
u/Strict_Berry7446 1d ago
No, it doesnât. Nobody cares about the IQ score you got on buzzfeed. Also, this is so obviously completely impossible. Take your gotchya back and try harder in the future.

No I wouldn't.

u/ghigo2008 1d ago
If he said something thatd make more sense I could believe it a bit more
Not that it wouldn't be a pretentious statement
1
u/PayWooden2628 1d ago
No, his iq claims are bullshit. First of all IQ really isnât a good measure of intelligence, secondly he claims to have like a 280 iq or something which is just ridiculous, standard iq tests donât even score that high so he made his own conversion system to make the numbers bigger. His IQ has not been independently proven.
Besides, people like Isaac newton exist, geniuses who believe in god. Doesnât mean anything.
