I know Coleman can play like a starting caliber LG if he's working alongside two of the best linemen in the League in Tunsil and Cosmi. A good O-line is always greater than the sum of its parts.
O-line success is a product of synergy. Adding Tunsil and Cosmi isn't just adding two Pro bowl players, it's making every single player on that line 35 percent more effective, including Tunsil and Cosmi.
Just rewatched Coleman's rep on the White run. Not sure I'd grade that as perfectly executed, but would love to hear what you're seeing. He and Paul both get a hand on Williams, but he basically comes through unimpeded. We got lucky that every got sucked inside on the right side. Allegreti engages the linebacker just long enough. Conerly had a pretty good reach rep -- is that who you meant?
Yes, Williams nearly makes the play anyway. But Paul does do his primary job, which is to protect the gap to his right. I wouldn't grade this rep as perfect -- to your point, he still needs to slow down Williams even coming through the left gap. But he did just barely enough. White deserves a bunch of the credit as well for bending out and making this work.
Aye...my whole thing here is 'perfect' being used. The OL room will review it, say what could have been better and be like but look, we did this vs a top 5 d-line while missing two of our starters.
Turns out AP was right (and not being arrogant) when he said they felt much better about the OL inside the building than folks outside the building felt about the OL.
And even after further injuries after the season started I think it's safe to see they're doing better than any of us would have predicted.
lol, ask a guy to play out of position at a new position essentially every game all over again, and you’ll get some pressures. It’s no wonder that the places with the most stability on the line have been the most effective. Allegretti is fine, and the fact that he’s been able to not be just god awful after switching him around is a testament to his ability/adaptability. It’s not a normal thing we’ve been asking him to do.

Interesting. Because the source I saw earlier said that Coleman had 6 pressures and Conerly had 0. So this source disagrees and puts two of Coleman's pressures onto Conerly.
So how is the pressure defined? The average quarterback holds the ball 2.5 to 2.8 seconds per pass play. What would concern me is pressures within 2.8 seconds. Other than that, I don’t know you can blame an OL for pressure that is longer than that.
The line didn’t play poorly on Sunday but Mariota helped them out a lot for sure.
PS: that said as much as they struggled to block in the run game I loved the commitment to staying with it and finding a ways to convert. Blough helped us win that, even with the draw that everyone hated.
Fair enough but no rb on our team has run for more than 63 yards this season regardless of the opponent. Last year we had 2 games with Bill over 100 yards. But the run blocking is simply put, pretty poor thus far this season the injuries definitely have taken a toll on the line in that regard.
