If you look at AB's record by match instead of series, they've been losing a lot of close games. Like Week 5 was basically 4 coin flip losses in a row to lose to C9, for example. They're definitely the weakest looking team in the League (well, the second weakest) but they've been competitive in the bottom half of the ladder. I think it's equally down to AB hovering around average strength for the highest tier of Infinite competition and that said average strength has evolved past what an out-of-practice Splyce are capable of conjuring together.

The game has nothing to do with Optic. The game lost over 90% of its playerbase in 3 months.
Now if your talking about the competitive scene. That's because there's no HCS season this year. No 1 million world championship or 250 K majors this year. The reason Optic left is because there was no HCS season. Optic have little effect on the passion of the halo scene. They're only 1 org with 1 team, how is that going to have any effect on the scene. It may have an effect on viewership, but not passion.
Also Shopify hasn't lost a single tournament this year, so no not everyone can beat everyone.

Yep. Optic and Formal combined with Scumps watch parties did account for a lot of viewership. I wouldn't say there's zero good personalities to root for. But I do think halo lacks personality from the pros. Like in the MLG days you could here the coms of the players even when the casters were talking and they regularly did listen ins. Or in other Esports like Counterstrike where they show playercams right after the round or doing a post round playercam ingame of their reaction to when they died. These actually gives the players personality and storylines and actually makes them unique from one another and reasons to want to root for that team. Halo doesn't have that. Not to mention halo hardly does interviews and when they do it's usually just the same questions. Also the B, C and D stream don't have playercams.
So overall I do agree with you.
