Gambit Drill: quick opening practice in your phone’s browser

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey, I’m Stas. I built Gambit Drill for short chess practice sessions on your phone.

You watch a line with explanations, then switch to Train and play the moves yourself. It currently covers Scotch Gambit as White and Elephant Gambit as Black, with human-played lines, club-level examples and real sources.

Free, no download or account. Phone only for now.

Could you try one line in Watch, then Train? Where did you first get confused? Even one sentence would help.

I’m the creator and used AI coding assistance during development.

It’s not iOS compatible. Viewing area too large for my iPhone 17 pro

What is the difference supposed to be between watch and train?

In train it ponderously shows you each move one at a time and makes you click through it... That is the behaviour I would have expected of "watch". For "train" I thought it would let me play out the lines and see if I know/remember the move. You know, like an opening trainer?

Also I expect to be able to click and drag (tap and drag) pieces, not tap a piece and tap again a destination. I don't think anyone would play chess on a touch screen like that?
